I arrived at JM Salon for a hair cut with Luca and had the best experience not only professional but friendly and COVID free experience with cleanliness and attention. I recommend this salon to everyone and I'm definitely returning. Great experience here and happy!

Today Luka helped me transform my look. I wanted to go blonder and much shorter. Even though I read such wonderful reviews I was very nervous going in. It's always difficult finding a new hairstylist. She did an amazing job! I kind of knew what I wanted going in but Luka was extremely helpful going through the color choices with me. I will definitely be a returning customer.

Came here a couple of months back after my former barber/stylist unfortunately closed shop and turned out to be somewhat of a blessing in disguise as I have never been more satisfied getting a haircut anywhere else (with all due respect to my last barber/stylist). I scheduled my appointment with Erica and she took great care of me, quickly understanding exactly what I wanted. With stylists I have a general trust to let them go to town on a concept I want and add their spin to it and Erica was able to not only do that but go beyond it to make my hair look truly sharp and professional. She's also consistently a great conversation too which I haven't had much of in a long time :). If you're a dude and have reservations about getting your hair done with a stylist I say get over them and give Erica a shot here at JM Salon. Great spot for a great haircut.

Going to a stylist for the first time is like going to the dentist, painful. With that being said I can not say enough good things about Luka. I showed her two photos, one for a cut I liked and one for the color I was looking for. She took her time studying my hair, we talked about different options and when she was satisfied she knew what I was looking for she went to work. The color came out beautiful! A soft, icee blonde, no brassiness at all! And the cut is fantastic. She took her time, and did not stop until she thought it was perfect. All that attention to detail should cost a fortune but guess what, it doesn't! I highly recommend going to Luka, you will not be disappointed.

Sleek and stylish is exactly what this salon is. My hair dresser Tracie recently left her old salon and found a home that truly fits her here at JM Salon. JM has only been open since June so everything is new new new. Super inviting when you walk in the front doors with a cute mini waiting area with leopard princess chairs and a chaise lounge in the corner with plenty of magazines to peruse through while waiting. The walls are flanked by super loungy vibe stations with super comfy chocolate brown cushiony leather chairs. Their hair washing sinks have the same leather chairs but slanted so your neck rests comfortably on the sink. A little foot stool is at the end so you are in a comfortable position for the best part of getting your hair done aka the hair wash time. They use great products as I am in love with how my hair feels right now. And the smell of the shampoo made you go Ahhhh.... There is a large parking lot behind the salon and also a back door salon entrance so no need to fuss with the meters out front. Personal checks are accepted so that is always a plus. Tracie has been doing my hair for the past ten years so I highly recommend her. The other gals Melinda, Amber and Erica that also work at JM are great stylist and colorist as well. I will follow Tracie wherever she goes but so far this is my favorite salon she has been at yet! Give her a call and make your appointment now! 310-241-1099

After getting tired of going to an over priced salon in Redondo beach, I had gotten a recommendation to come to JM salon and have my hair done by Valarie. I can say it was an amazing decision. first off the salon in itself is very clean and professional, something that I look for. It is located in a very nice area with available parking in the back ( amazing). I got the pleasure of sitting down in Valaries chair and being so pleased! She is a very professional and talented hair stylist. I went from a kinda frumpy brown to a bright ombré look that she totally nailed. She was very quick and efficient which is hard to find. Not only was I happy with the color but my blow dry afterward kept my hair looking good for about 3 days, as if I just walked out of the salon. I would highly recommend Valarie to any and everyone. The price is affordable and you will be one happy camper ;)

My stylist moved out of state and not knowing who to go to, I yelped "color stylist San Pedro" and Valerie at JM Salon came up with amazing reviews. Those reviews were on point. I tried her today and she brought my ombre up, died my grey roots, minor trim and style. She did a terrific job, was very reasonable and personable. Parking is good in back of salon so you don't have to park at meters. I will definitely be back and will let my friends know!

My go to hairstylist is Valeri . She's the most sweet understandable person ever!! Just bring a pic of what you want and she will leave your hair exactly how you want it. I found her after Philly Styles in Torrance messed up my hair... And since then, she has done wonders to my hair, from color , to treatments to maintain my hair soft and healthy . I love that she's so knowledgeable and clean, I have never left her place unsatisfied. She makes sure you get the color and texture you asked her for, and she will take her time to fix whatever you don't like . She's the best hairstylist I've ever encountered, trust me ... I had the most amazing experience with Luca. I haven't died my hair in 8 years and honestly I was dreading bleach! She was so attentive and patient. Listened to what I incisiones and make it happen! They set up an appointment with Valerie. As I walked in the salon I was greeted by Valerie, she is awesome!! I was referred to Melinda and I am so happy I was. Melinda cut my hair exactly how I wanted. She is very sweet and has a great vibe. She asks a lot of questions and takes her time with the consultation. I went in for whispy layers and a softened v cut and she did it exactly like the picture I showed her. She has a lot of experience and is amazing at her craft. The salon is very upbeat and welcoming. read more

When I tell you my hair was a disaster before I made an appointment with Luka! She is truly an amazing hair stylist she's sweet, easy to talk to, & did I mention she worked WONDERS on my hair!! Lol She listened to exactly what I wanted & my hair came out PERFECT And for anyone who is scared due to COVID, safety precautions were in place the entire time I was there so that made me feel very safe! I've been meaning to leave a review for weeks! I had finally decided to bite the bullet and find a stylist that wasn't in Orange County and I happened to find Erica here at JM Salon, when I called and said I needed someone who could do curly hair. And lo and behold, I found an actual stylist who has curly hair herself! Erica is so nice and friendly and she was able to make magic with my hair. Her prices are definitely reasonable and I'm looking forward to seeing her again in the future! Yay. read more

Absolutely love Melinda! (Salon owner.) JM Salon is low key and totally down to earth. Melinda greets everyone like family and is really warm which is so refreshing. I should note I tend to handle my own color since my schedule is ridiculous & my roots grow super fast in under 3 weeks but...She never bugs me about it & does exactly the cuts I want - super pretty, feminine & subtle - and she is just so cool & great energy as well. As a gal getting close to 50, I still really love natural, long healthy hair that swings and moves without a lot of product or fuss and my hair has been super healthy, long and looking great the last 2 years in her hands! Somehow, being in her hands is just very healing. Very reasonable prices & scheduling too. She is a complete gem & I'm so glad I found her! Right now I'm in Orange County due to a recent move from the Southbay but I will absolutely drive back to see her. Thanks Melinda - I miss you - you're an absolute doll! read more

LOVE this salon! Everyone is always so friendly and nice. && Val is AMAZING...that's an understatement actually. She has been doing my hair for about 3 years & I got impatient and didn't want to wait so I tried someone else at a different salon...LET ME TELL YOU biggest mistake of my life! When I got home I was so unhappy with my hair I CRIED. Finally I sent Val a message and begged her to fix it. She fit me in the very next day and fixed my ruined hair and it looks perfect again. She works magic absolutely IN LOVE with my hair now! I got a caramel ombre. I'll never cheat on my hair stylist again! LESSON LEARNED. She is the best. read more

JM Salon has been the place I have been coming for years now. Val is my go to ! She does an amazing job at giving you what you want. In addition, unlike many other hairstylist she will tell you how many sessions you need to get to a color you want and to take a break in between them so you dont fry your hair! she has done my hair several times and I trust her with anything always leaves me so happy with my ending results! read more

This review is specifically for Valerie, who did my hair just two short days ago! Valerie is an excellent stylist because not only is she extremely professional, but she is PERSONABLE, which I find nowadays is a rare quality in people. I clicked with her instantly and was so excited. Firstly I must tell you I was dying to have bright pink and purple hair. I haven't been to any salons in San Pedro since I moved here, so choosing a salon I've never been to, to do something so drastic to my hair was nervewracking. I saw the reviews for JM Salon and thought I'd give it a try. I spoke to Valerie on the phone and told her what I wanted and asked her to ballpark a price for me (very affordable and inexpensive, I had a indigo and fuschia ombre that was quoted over the phone without her having ever seen my hair for about 120-160). She asked if I wanted a consultation and I said I'd just go ahead and book with her because I was excited to get it done. She made the time to accommodate me after work, knowing that it would keep her past the normal hours of the salon, and we corresponded via texts so that I could send her pictures of my hair and of what I wanted. When I arrived she was waiting for me. She offered me water and had me sit down and we got right to work. I found that we had a lot in common, so conversation was super easy and made my experience that much more fun. I will never let anyone else touch my hair. She was very gentle with my hair, which we had to bleach in order to get these bright colors put on. I am a licensed esthetician so I am very wary of making sure places I go to are sanitary and that whoever is touching me is doing what they should be doing and I was very pleased that Valerie was following sanitation procedures so well. I know that's a nerdy thing to say but it is important to me & I know I can't be the only one! All in all my hair came out looking beautiful and I felt like I had spent 3 hours with my best friend. I would recommend this adorable and welcoming salon to any and everyone, especially Valerie! PS I ended up spending $150... a total bargain and right within the range she had quoted to me on the phone! Perfect!! read more

First appointment in a new hairdressers is always nerve racking especially going for a cut. No need to worry at all here at JM Salon. From the initial welcome by the Manager Melinda. Erica Kapu! I can't thank her enough for the love and care she put into my hair. I have naturally curly brown hair (mixed) and so it is often hard to find a stylist that is comfortable with cutting and dying curls. Erica is that stylist! She was able to take my vision and make it reality. Erica made sure when cutting my hair to keep the length, knowing that curl shrinkage can be a major problem. I wanted to go drastically blonde with my hair and she advised that I take it one step at a time so that the bleach doesn't take away or loosen my curl. With Erica I felt like I was in the hands of an expert! She was sensitive to my unique needs and I walked out of the feeling like a million bucks! I love the feel of the salon as well. The other stylists are nice and it is a warm, welcoming, and hilarious place to spend some time getting pampered. I will be back in two months for a touch up and can't wait to see what my magician (I mean stylist!) does for me next! read more

Just had to tell everyone about this wonderful lady that listened to my request and gave me the exact cut I wanted. Ladies, I'm sure you've been in the situation I was in at least once. New to town and just left my hairdresser that had my haircut descriptions down. I like changing my style every year. I don't know the hairstyle lingo so i usually bring in a picture and describe the changes i want. (Can be confusing). Melinda got it Right-on the fist time. The second time I went to her, I made a change. Again, she got it right. Life is beautiful when you walk out of the salon struttin your new do that you just knew would look awesome on you. Moving to a new location and finding a great stylist is one of the most stressful parts of moving. I read the reviews on JM Salon and called for an appointment, they got me in the same day (unreal!)) and Luka was a gem. She is a pro - fixed the cut and color - and I walked out with a bunch of local recommendations for great restaurants! I highly recommend this location and the staff! read more

Made an appt earlier in the day, and was able to get in this afternoon. Check! Danielle was extremely friendly and super personable. Check! May hair is recovering from a mishap from another salon, so my hair needs some extreme TLC. Danielle gave me a cut, exactly what I was looking for from what I showed her. Check! My hair feels much more healthier. Check! And my experience was great! Check! I would highly recommend making the trek to San Pedro. Now to wait to be able to go back, and get a cut, and color! read more

I was highly recommended here and I was not disappointed. Melinda colored my hair and she's just simply the best! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she delivered! I scheduled an appointment for a hair cut and then inquired about coloring my hair, I was sent a text to come in for a consultation and made the appointment. When I came to the consultation and spoke with the stylist, everything was spoke about appropriately but then when I was leaving the receptionist advised that I had to pay $35 fee just for a consultation and did not disclose this until after the consultation. I even had text messages in writing that there was no fee mentioned for this consultation that I was asked to come in for. The owner was not responsive to speak with me directly and brushed me off. I cancelled my hair cut appointment and made another one with another salon. If you schedule a client for a consultation it should be disclosed that there is a fee up front. And for the amount you charge for a hair cut there should be better customer service provided to clients paying that amount you are asking for. I been in customer service for well over 30 years that no company should be disrespectful with their clientele. You're located in a small strip mall that is unrecognizable to the general public so do better at customer service to get more business transactions!

So I found Locket Extensions. During our consultation since super nice and sweet. The day of the install came and I loved the way my hair looked at the salon. Once I got home I noticed the top of my head was much fuller than the bottom and asked her if she could move some around. She said fine and scheduled an appt. She cancelled on my 3 times claiming she was having mental health issues. I told her I completely understood. I wanted to fix my hair before my trip to Hawaii. She finally fixed it. When it came time for my first MOVE UP I sat in her chair and as she started going THRU MY HAIR. After a couple of rows she began to complain that I wasn't take care of my extensions. She was like these are so bad that this isn't a MOVE UP this is a complete install. I was like what are you talking about. She then went to blame me for ruining my hair on my vacation. She said" I saw your photos you were all in the water wetting your hair". I was first of all I always avoid wetting my hair in pools or beaches as much as I can. And second of all if I wanted to wet my hair I could. Wetting your hair shouldn't affect the placement. I've been wearing extensions for many years longer than she had been installing extensions. So I know how to take care of them and how to take care of my investment because extensions are not cheap. Besides I go on a lot of vacations and never had a problem with my hair. The way Michelle went of on my that day was on called for. I was completely confused. She talked to my a child I front of the other stylist and their clients. As she did my move up she was doing hard and hurting my head because she was pulling on it. Like I said I have been extensions for years at TEN TEN salon on Wiltshire. So I know it should hurt this much. I asked her please be more gentle. She went on to blame like me. u didn't take care of your hair. She was being aggressive and just simply rude. I felt like I was I. high school. I wish maybe the owner would have stepped in and told her she was being out of line. I was embarrassed and humiliated. I paid for the move up and didn't stay for my root touch up. The whole time she was bitching at me I was already texting a friend to do my roots because there was no way I was allowing her do any more services on me. I paid for the move up and left About 8 hours later she begins sending messages like you only paid for a move up. What I did was a complete install. You either pay me or I'm reporting you to the Sheriffs. I found someone in Los Alamitos. Little did I know she was the founder of Locket Extension. She was so professional . She was appalled at my install. She called her hair stylist over to come and see my extensions. The pics I'm sharing are the ones she took. She told me this install was completely wrong. Click and zoom in on the pictures. About 2 months later I see Michelle at Target San Pedro. And of course causing some drama with poor lil young cashier. She made a whole scene in front of Target called his manger in front of everyone. She was so loud and arrogant. I guess that's just the way she is. Someone in line even told her to stop already and that she was I the wrong and not the cashier. If you love drama then I recommend Michelle Zabata

Had my hair done my Valerie and wouldn't go to anyone else again. This was the second time I've had my hair done my her and both times I felt like a new person after leaving the shop. The last time I gave her free range to cut my locks and could be happier with it. Totally love how my hair came out and she is such a sweetheart.
