I had a great experience with Burke Painting from start to finish. The team was professional,…read moredetail-oriented, and clearly takes pride in their work. They didn't just rush through the job--they put real effort into prep, making sure everything was properly sanded, patched, and ready before any paint went on. That alone made a noticeable difference in the final result. Communication was solid throughout the process, and I appreciated how transparent they were about materials and pricing. You can tell they care about doing things the right way, not just the fastest way. The finished work looks clean, even, and high quality, and it's clear they use products that are built to last. If you're looking for painters who actually treat your property like it matters, Burke Painting is a solid choice. Would definitely recommend.

I called him again today and he answered and I let him know that we wanted to cancel the contract as we were getting other bids. He told me the $1,000 was non refundable regardless of whether he does the work or not. I'm pretty sure in California a homeowner has a minimum of 3 days cooling off, for seniors 65+ they have 5 days and a contractor must return the monies held on deposit which is usually the right thing to do. In either case, I can't imagine someone would take advantage of seniors like this- but Dan Burke is a master at elder abuse. We won't let this go and he will make it right. hire this guy at risk- no integrity and no sense of respect and decency.

Was referred to Greenlight Building Services by Angi. Received a call from their representative…read morewho identified himself as Joel. He was very pushy and so into himself that I had a difficult time getting him to listen so I could ask questions. He finally hung up on me. I'm looking for a licensed contractor to correct the shoddy work of another licensed contractor. Consequently I'm working from the basis of an expensive hard earned lesson. So I wanted it clear I have my requirements and want assurance they will be met. Joel refused to listen, wanted to argue, tell me what to think, told me I should instead hire a handyman (and that my previous licensed contractor was just a handyman). Then he hung up on me. Oh, I did finally get out of him in answer to my question, that Greenlight Building Services has a $500 minimum. My conclusion from this phone call is this company is pushy, will not listen, and therefore cannot be trusted.

I hesitate to even write this because I feel bad leaving a bad review, but my overall experience…read morewas really bad and yelp was what helped move me forward in choosing them to paint my home. Customer service-wise they were great. Communicative, showed up, etc. The painting? Not so much. I chose them after a recommendation from someone in a facebook group, seeing all 5 stars on yelp, and during the initial walk-through for the quote he seemed very focused on being meticulous. We are also very meticulous, so we were happy to find someone on the same wavelength. The quote was very expensive (about 9k for 2 story 2000 sqft) but he said he'd throw in painting the cabinets (and the baseboard stuff I will mention more below) but that it wouldn't be cheaper without the cabinets. I figured since cabinets are usually pretty expensive to get done well that it would be worth it to have them done. Much stuff happens without event. We weren't yet moved into the home at the time, so the house was empty. We paid him and went for the walk-through to check everything out (by ourselves). He told us if we see spots that need touch up we can stick some painters tape and they will come back for touch ups. So we are looking through our house and there is so much overspray on things like doorknobs, wood stairs, cabinet hardware, etc. Lines on things like baseboards and at windows were rarely clean. Many areas had painters tape still stuck on that was painted over so if you pulled it off you'd pull off tape. Drops of paint on the floor. Hardware painted over rather than removed (like in apartments where they just keep piling on the paint!). Etc. The house was also left a mess. Paint dust everywhere. My husband was concerned he wouldn't even come back because we already paid him. He did come back. Unfortunately, even after coming back the issues were not addressed. This time, we asked him to do a walk through with us so we could point things out. Again, he came back. He did try to do things like clean overspray, but he started using paint thinner we asked him not to use (our young children were in the house) and asked me to look at spots he did and they still had spray on them. At that point, we just cut our losses and asked him to leave and decided we'd take care of whatever rather than asking them to do stuff that wasn't going to happen. The reason I chose not to paint my house myself is because I expected a professional would do a better job. This was not hitting the mark at all. I suspect during prep they didn't really clean anything prior to painting. For example, there was hair painted into the wall. They wanted to cut time and costs and also sprayed places they shouldn't or less carefully than they should (I don't know anything about paint spraying, other than overspray shouldn't be everywhere, so something was done incorrectly). Currently, 6-7 months later, in many places in the home there are cracks developing in the paint either due to poor prep or too thick of an application. It's just sad because we paid so much for a paint job we thought would be super professional and ended up with something that doesn't look great and will probably cost a lot more to make look nice by painters next time. If it ever even can. He seemed more focused on the "extras" he wanted to do. Did we appreciate he randomly put baseboards in our closets that didn't have any? Sure (although he ran out of baseboard and left some undone and we were like "well, we'd rather just not have any than half done." he did add more after we mentioned it). Did we appreciate he re did the corners of baseboards on rounded doorways where they were very off? Yes. Did we appreciate he changed a section of hallways that had a different type of baseboard to the same? Yes. But was it worth have a horrible paint job? No. Photos are just a small sampling for examples. Am i ridiculously meticulous? Absolutely. But I do believe this goes beyond what an average person would feel satisfied with, especially paying on the higher end.

In addition to the sloppy work as evident in the pictures and using the wrong paint color and finish for touch ups where it was so bad they had to repaint the whole ceiling, Matt and his team were unprofessional. They would show up hours after they said with no communication and then stay until 10pm with no regard to my kids. His workers also blasted their music while I worked from home. We tried giving Matt and his team grace (hence the 2 months) due to unforeseen circumstances Matt was dealing with but eventually it was enough. Now, when we thought we were done with this nightmare we were informed he's coming after us for payment after he's already been paid by our contractor. Bottom line is that Matt is extremely unethical, unprofessional and sloppy. Stay away.

My search for a good & fair priced handyman started in September. My mom rents out her condo in San…read moreMarcos and I live nearby so I help manage it. So whenever there's a problem (ie broken AC, leaks, anything broken) I have to find a solution to fix it. Well, problems started happening in September. My tenant texted me saying there were water bubbles forming in the ceiling, they were on the 3RD floor, and eventually traveled to the 2nd floor (it's a 3 story townhouse). Turns out, the AC line was clogged and the condensation was not draining properly causing it to flood the attic. At this point, I called an emergency plumber to fix it. That plumber came in, put 4 holes in the ceiling drywall, vacuumed the water out, and advised to let it all dry out before drywall can be patched up. After I paid the plumber, the plumber never followed back up with fixing the drywall. So the 4 holes in the ceiling drywall stayed like that till yesterday December 16, 2015.... 3 months. I had plans for my father-in-law to patch it, but he broke his hand so those plans fell through. Then I went to Home Depot in San Marcos one day looking at kitchen appliances and I asked them if they had handymen I could hire and that is how I found Sergio's Construction. Home Depot said that the handyman will contact me, and within 30 minutes, Sergio called. I went an unconventional way of getting an estimate but Sergio was still able to give me a quote. I had pictures of the drywall holes that needed to be fixed, I sent him pictures of it and he came back with a quote of around $1k. I think this was end of October beginning of November. Well, I kept putting fixing it off, then I called and sent another company to give me a quote (they quoted me $2k!!), then I contemplated some more, and finally came around and gave Sergio the ok to do work. I did drag my feet a lot to fix the drywall, but that's a lot of money for me! Sergio was professional. He emailed me a breakdown of the cost of everything, plus he said he could install 2 bathroom vanity lights for me as well. He said he could finish it all in a day as well and he did! I went by yesterday when they were painting the drywall, and everything looked great! I was really impressed with how fast he was and the tenants were happy with the results as well. I will definitely be using him again for any future projects (which is probably very soon, since I need an oven installed and he said they do that as well).
