This car wash was amazing. 3 guys handwashed our car which was filthy. They rinsed it first, soaped it up, then rinsed it again. Finally they hand dried it. The car looks new! I would have had them clean the inside but I didn't have time today. I thought the price was extremely reasonable. The staff were polite and the owner especially was friendly. Overpriced for what I received! He tried to charge me 55$ for a rushed car wash and a half lazy job. He literally threw some water on the car and tried to charge me extra to take off the dirt! Moreover, with the inside rubber mats all he tried to Do was vacuum them and run some Water over them, not blaming them at all. I told him No way I'm paying $55 for this half azz lazy job'! He began to ask "what's wrong what can I fix "? First of all you can do the job I paid for and clean the maps properly! And also clean the doors and paneling' which they did not do! Thank you Yelp, once again, for directing me to another great local business that was entirely off my radar. In general, I'm not one of those people who likes my car to be clean. If my car gets dirty on the outside, the next time it rains everything should be fine. I have no need for a fresh from the factory shine. But in this case, it was Mother's Day, and all my better half wanted as a gift was for her car to be cleaned on the inside and out. Part of me wanted to do this myself with the kids. You know, a labor of love. She drives a Mazda 5 with three rows of seats, long floor mats, and lots of nooks and crannies in the cabin. I thought there was no way that any car wash could get the inside as meticulously clean as my spouse would like. A detailing shop maybe. A car wash, no. But still, I also thought that if I brought the car for a wash first, it might make it easier for me to fully clean the car to my wife's demanding specifications. This is what drove me to JJ's in the first place. It's hard to find. At first, I thought the self-serve car wash stalls in the parking lot were part of the operation. But then I drove around and found what I thought might be the entrance to JJ's proper. Turns out, that was the exit. But still, a friendly employee directed me around to the back, where I could enter one of the bays. I told the fellow there that I wanted an inside and outside cleaning. "You want a spray wax too?" he enquired. Sure. Why the heck not. Yes, it took quite a while for the car to be done. I was quoted around 45 minutes and they were pretty close to that. The kids and I hung out on one of the park benches and we made some Mother's Day calls. However, when the car was done, it was immaculate! I was told that the floor mats could really benefit from a shampoo, and was also invited to inspect the car. "If anything doesn't look great, please let me know and we'll take care of it." I appreciated the opportunity for feedback and their earnest efforts to make sure I was pleased with the work. $50 seemed like more than a fair price. Especially because when I brought the car back home to present it as a Mother's Day gift, it was almost perfect as is. My wife's eagle eyes picked up on two very small things she wanted done, but within a few moments I was the hero who got this very dirty, dusty, and dingy car looking great! Thank you JJs! I had a good experience at JJ'S Car Wash. The payment process was straightforward, The computer screen was a decent size, I could see the fonts clearly and there was a simple list of menu options. The whole payment process took about 2 minutes. Within 5 mins, my car was being prepped for the carwash. Within 3 minutes, my car was washed , dried and I was out the door. Overall it was a great experience, I kinda wish that there were more stations to vacuum your car. I waited about 45 minutes for one. Another concern is the entrance/exit , it's too close to the vacuuming station. Be careful if you go, it's an accident waiting to happen. read more

DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE STOLEN FROM. They did a great hand wash for cheap ($15 for exterior only) but it's not worth it. After I left, I noticed my phone wasn't charging in the car charger. I looked at the cord and it had been swapped out. I only use apple original/direct products so I knew this wasn't my cord. It's not that expensive of an item but it's the principle. I feel ashamed that I even tipped them generously. I noticed that other patrons opted to stay in their car. Best car wash in Ypsilanti, don't sleep on this place; I usually receive a very high quality result. My wife has a newer luxury car, and every wash has produced a sparkling exterior. There are a few drawbacks. The first is time: be prepared to spend 30-45 minutes on a normal day (exterior wash only - I haven't tried interior yet). The second is common to most hand car washes: your results can depend on the crew. Every now and then there will be a spot missed, or strands of a towel caught on the lettering, but the crew-leads do a great job of doing a final walk-around and keeping the crew in check. That being said, one gentleman shared a horror story - a younger crew member wasn't paying attention to what he was doing and was literally hosing down the inside of the car as he cleaned the door sills. The last is a little discomforting: each time I've been, they've briefly lost track of someone's car keys. They're eventually located, but it can still make things tense for a minute. I think I saw a key-hook on a post, but they don't seem to use it consistently. One visit I actually found someone's keys for them - they were on the ground in the car wash bay next to the lounge door. If you have the time, give them a shot; Dunkin Donuts and Walmart are across the street if they're really busy. I read another reviewer say that they stay in their car, which could alleviate a couple of the things I mentioned above. Despite those things, I definitely recommend them, the wash itself is very good. read more

I told him I had never been here before, so I wasn't familiar with the formality of a car wash being inside a closed area? One of the workers said "that's the price for a truck." I have a 2016 subaru crosstrek? Last time I checked it was a small SUV? Back home in LA, baseline price is $15-$19.99 TOTAL for the whole car (inside and outside), but here they charged $20 for outside and $15 for inside. Cringing by the ridiculous price, I agreed to proceed with the car wash. Then before they started washing the car one of the workers was being rude saying I needed to pay with cash, but in the end the female worker said I can pay with card or cash??? I was annoyed by this point but got them the cash. I gave her two $20 and asked for my change back. She said you sure you want your change? YES I WANT MY CHANGE. Despite the awkward, uncomfortable and inhospitable environment, the car wash was TRASH. There were watermarks and streaks on the outside and dirt all over the carpet. I took my mother's car to JJ's after using this place for my entire adult life. I have encountered a few minor issues with them in the past, but they made them right without costimg me too much time. Most recently, I too my mother's Ford Eco Sport in for a cleaning and wax job (spray wax) - $50. I was surprised that the car was done in less than 45 minutes.................until the next day when it was light enough to see the results. The interior was lightly vaccumed at best, leafs, dog hair and light trash still remaing. There was zero way applied and just a poor job overall. I have known JJ for year (not friends), but we know one another. I gave him the opportunity to fix it the next day, but he chose to sit in his truck and drink beer with his boy and argue. Coming from California, I am not use to washing my own car~ there are places that will clean the outside, vacuum and wipe down interior for $10-$15. In MI, there are sooo many do-it-yourself places and honestly if I wanted to do it myself, I would do it in my yard with a hose. Those do it yourself places are confusing and timed and more trouble than it is worth to me. Anyhow, you know what that means ... my poor car never getting a wash ... if anything she gets the drive thru wash but never the interior especially in this awful michigan weather. LUCKILY, I found this place, I got the VIP ($20) which I am not sure what exactly it entails but they hand washed, hand dry, air freshened, took the mats out and vacuumed ... they could have wipe down the inside handles for me but ehhh ... I'm sure they would if i asked. They spent almost an hour on my car. As the other reviews, this place is intimidating as there are a bunch of people in the front. They were busy and it was my first time so I had to wait in the back (YES enter from the back). The man was trying to direct me but this car was on back of me and I wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to get pass me as I was blocking the back lot. And the car wash guy was yelling (probably due to the noise) at me, ahhhh stop yelling ... i don't know wth is going on! That was such a fiasco. I waited in the lobby which is not very fancy similar to a car garage lobby but they have a vending machine if you are thirsty. Love this hand wash car wash. So very inexpensive (they really should raise their rates), and they do an amazing job, both inside and outside. No appointments, just drive up. Wow! I agree with another review that you can't judge a book by its cover. This is not a flashy establishment, but the owner and all the employees take their job seriously. I couldn't have asked for a better wash and wax than this place. I rotated through all four of our cars on a Saturday for a complete inside and outside wash and cleanup. I also had them hand wax all the cars. They did a great job and couldn't have asked for better. This was as close to a detail without paying an arm and a leg. I paid about $50 per car for all that I mentioned. Above all, everyone there was so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend this place for a wash or a more in depth cleaning. read more

Ok, so if I hadn't read the Yelp reviews, I would have driven here, then turned around! One cannot go by first impressions! After pulling out back, honking my horn, the garage door opened and I as instructed to pull in. A truck was inside being washed and another car ahead of me. Several workers were smoking. I was asks if I wanted the inside and out cleaned and was told it would be &20. After emptying the contents of the car into the trunk, I was directed to a lobby. There were two employees in the waiting room & left when I entered. Most likely to go clean my car. They did a fantastic job, very thorough & the young man who dealt with me was very respectful. I went there to get my car a good cleaning inside and out. I just moved to a2 for work and wanted my new company car to feel like new. (It's only a 2013 w 15,000 miles, so is practically new). It was clean as is, but wanted to get the previous users feel out of it. I went with the VIP package for 5$ extra (25$). And I must say, this was the WORST cleaning of a car I've ever seen. I figured since I had to wait 45 minutes, that they were doing a decent job. False. -There was still junk into center console (e-brake, cup holders, etc. -didn't pick up my sweatshirt on passenger seat to vacuum the seat. When I got home And grabbed my sweatshirt, I was surprised to see crumbs and an old receipt underneath. -the previous owner had spilled some sort of red liquid on the steering wheel. It was still there. -there was still dust on the dash. Didn't even wipe the dash down. -they didn't even vacuum the back (SUV) or the sides of the driver/passenger doors that you see when you open the door. I could go on... I was not expecting an actual detailing. I know I only paid 25$. All I really wanted was a thorough vacuuming and somebody with a spray bottle wiping down all feasible places. This is the best "car wash" (it's actually car cleaning) deal in the area. Hands down. No competition. The bill for cleaning your car thoroughly--more thoroughly than I've ever found at any other car wash anywhere--inside and out is $15, but if you are female and go on Wednesday, it costs ten bucks. TEN. BUCKS. Which is just astounding. (Tip generously!) Where else do the guys have you get in the driver's seat toward the end of the process and roll your car forward in tiny increments so that they can be sure they've got your tires polished ALL the way around? (When I mentioned how amazing I thought this was to the manager, he just laughed and said, "You should look good the whole time you roll." ) They also clean your mud flaps. They don't miss a thing. The guys who work there are friendly and--obviously!--hard working. I absolutely love this place and, aside from running through the quickie wash that sprays the undercarriage when there's snow/salt on the ground, I would not think of going anywhere else. I went to J&J's today because my brother got motion sickness and puked all over the passenger seat. For $25 they completely shampooed the spots that had puked on them, cleaned the mat and sprayed air freshener in the car. There was no sign that anybody had thrown up! All in 15 minutes! Don't be put off by the people hanging out in the front or the simple design of their sign. they are legit! I had no idea they didn't take debit though until I read another yelp review. Seriously the BEST place in Ann Arbor/Ypsi to get your car washed and detailed. The guys who work here will wash the exterior, detail/shine the tires, vacuum and spot- shampoo the interior, and make your car look like new. They are fast, professional, and the BEST part is it's only $20! Seriously awesome service. Beware! Thieves! I took my brand new Pathfinder there and I noticed the next day that the front passenger side carpeted floor mat was missing. I went back and they told me to buy a new mat at Nissan and bring them the receipt and that they would pay for it. Well, I went back with the invoice and they said to write my name and number on the back of it and the owner would get back to me. He never did and after two weeks and multiple trips there I could see that they were just snowballing me. The following week I lodged a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they contacted them with (30 days later) no response. Plus, it only costs me $20 for my 4-door hatchback, including the trunk. My car was so clean, smelling really good. Employees were very nice. I feel bad I haven't returned, not too long after I got rear ended and my trunk will soak in all the water. J & J is a stellar car wash experience. I'm a fan of full service car washes. I don't always get them. But when I do, I know what I want, and what I expect. This is an all hand-wash job. That's right, no machines. Exactly what I was looking for. These guys are great, polite, and my car looks fantastic. I got the inside and outside cleaning, I think they called it the VIP. I paid $25, and I also tipped because it was well deserved. Takes about 45 minutes, give or take, depending on how busy they are. I walked to the Dunkin donuts across the street and relaxed.
