I arrived before this coffee bar opened so I sat outside at one of the picnic tables. After a little while, cars started to pull up 5 minutes before this shop opened. That's a great sign! We had a line of about six people before the doors even opened! The service was super friendly and welcoming from the moment the doors opened! The coffee was really good. I haven't had coffee this good in a while. The shop has tons of baked goods. It all looked yummy. I didn't grab any, but man, it looked amazing. The vibe inside was nice. Great music streaming and people were in a great mood. I definitely recommend this spot. I wish this shop were in my town! I missed my morning shot of Joe so I was on the hunt for a nearby coffee shop. Yelp reviews led me straight here. The catchy name was also a deciding factor. Small stand alone building with about 5 parking spaces up front. Big windows at the front gave the patrons sitting there a sort of spectator quality as I approached the front door. As if they were all locals and I was the tourist invading their joint. But as soon as I walked in they lost interest and I was accepted into the community blend. Nice coffeehouse decor happening here. Lots of wood, cozy personal spots, and aromas wafting about. A local artist's oil painting smattered around it seemed. Four guys behind the counter busy with various duties. Taking it in, I noticed a large roasting oven being attended by an employee. They roast their own beans here and package them to sell in some attractive packaging. Short sleeve and long sleeved shirts with their brand emblazoned on the back for sale along with stickers and keychains. All this before I got to the counter. I am loving my choice about now. As some of you guys know, I am a suck-a for a mocha. I ordered the large. Pastries in the counter display looked delicious. I just had a bite or I would have definitely went for the "buckle", half cake half muffin (inset record scratch sound here). That looked delicious. Another time. In five minutes, I had my mocha. Smooth, rich, hot and delicious! I really wanted to sit and enjoy my delight but work called. I walked back to my car no longer feeling like an outsider. I found a new place to call my own and take friends to when I am in McAllen. If you want a great cup of coffee or tea, give this place a try. Location is central and the space is very nice and modern. Roomy for sitting down and even doing some work on your computer. The coffee is good (not great) and the service leaves something to be desired. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but my morning coffee (iced vanilla latte w/oat milk, actually) and the demeanor of the people serving it to me and that I interact with, does make a difference to me. Jitterz will always have a place in my heart. I use to go back when they had live bands. I would also go to study when I was in undergrad and I always had the Oreo Latte or the Chocolate Chip Shake with a side of an Oreo brownie. Jitterz was our hang out spot! Good initial impression, unfriendly staff, questionable coffee. My review: high expectations coming from reading other reviews. We tried red eye and expresso but they have good variety of options. The place is nice and clean. Good music in the background at the right volume. Staff not friendly and unclear when communicating. No coffee leads for plastic cups. My daughters review: I never usually write reviews, but I was unsatisfied I felt the moral obligation to warn all of you to keep away from this cafe. The coffee was not only watery; it also had an unexpected kick- not the good kind. The Red Eye coffee tasted overly acidic and had a tang of lemon that concerns me. After being pointed towards our drinks, I was surprised to find no lids available for my drink. Very disappointing but it doesn't stop there. To really soak in the vibe of this place, the staff was almost as bitter almost as my coffee. I was barely greeted and not really notified when my drink was ready. This is for the Bryan location. This place is top tier. What absolutely KILLS it for me is that they clean right in the morning when it's busy. There's dust particles flying all in the air from sweeping. It feels very intrusive when they're mopping around you as well. Some tables are clean or not but seriously. Pick a better time to clean. I seriously love this place. The coffee is great, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the place has an all around good vibe. I've been to Jitterz on a few separate occasions and everything I've had has been excellent. Normally I have one of the baristas recommend something to me. The best drink I've had thus far is the iced coffee brewed in a whiskey barrel. Amazing aroma and flavor. It was unlike anything else I've ever had. Plus, the prices here are very reasonable. I don't mind paying a premium price for coffee though when it's prepared with love and care. Jitterz also has an array of pastry options that all look great. I have yet to try any of their food options, but I'm sure I will on a future visit. Do yourself a favor and skip the corporate coffee chains and check out Jitterz instead. I decided to stop by Jitterz to try my very first latte instead of the typical Starbucks. I must say: I'm glad I did! The staff was very helpful in putting together my drink order and even explained what to expect in my drink. The place itself has an authentic coffee-shop feel. Not distracting (which was perfect since I had reading to do), and very warm. As far as the latte itself, not having tried any before stopping by Jitterz might make me a tad biased, but the coffee lover in me can guarantee it was great.
