It was a two-person crew and communication was difficult due to a language barrier (mandarin speaking only), which made it hard to clarify details or ask questions during the process. We did use Google Translate but it only went so far. My biggest concern is the inconsistent quality of the roller shade and blind installations. Some blinds operate correctly, but others shift when adjusting them -- the headrail moves up and down whenever the tilt wand is used. Instead of correcting the mounting, a temporary workaround was used that leaves the headrail sticking out about an inch. There were also measurement and fit issues. One roller shade cassette appeared to be incorrectly sized and had to be forced into place. Several shades are not evenly aligned within the window frames, with varying inset depths that are visibly inconsistent. Additionally, one of the roller shades fails to fully close, which suggests quality or installation problems. Overall, I'm disappointed with the workmanship and finish.

We first worked with Rick 6+ years ago when we moved into our home. He installed shutters in our bedrooms and office, and they've held up beautifully. I remembered how professional and on top of everything he was, so I reached out again when we needed blinds for our bedroom. Jeremy and Parker came out for measurements and made the whole process incredibly easy. They walked us through options, gave thoughtful suggestions, and provided an estimate. All in about 10-15 minutes. About two weeks later, they returned for installation and were done in under 5 minutes. Everything was seamless. The best part is how it turned out. It's exactly what we envisioned, if not better. We now have automated blinds in our bay window that give us privacy while still letting in light, and they look so clean in person. I've been a loyal Hunter Douglas fan/customer for decades now and have had an overwhelmingly positive experience, but experienced a motor failure with one of my Luminette window treatments back in 8/2025. I contacted the HD retailer that I purchased the treatments from but learned that (1) it was out of warranty and (2) the Gen 1 motor/parts were discontinued as there was a "new generation" that was introduced in 2019. Supposedly, the only option was to order a new motor + track at $$ cost and attempt to reuse the existing fabric vanes. Based on that recommendation I placed the order for a new motor + track only to be told that due to a "parts shortage" the new motor + track would likely not be available until late 10/2025. This seemed suspect to me, so I reached out to CEMAC for a second opinion and connected with Gwen who informed me that she wasn't aware of any delays with orders and more importantly warned me that a new Gen 2 motor + track would NOT be compatible with my existing fabric vanes. Turns out that some Hunter Douglas rep may have provided inconsistent or incorrect information to my original dealer, but I obviously decided to cancel the replacement motor + track order immediately. I was then informed that my only option is a order a brand new system (motor + track + vanes) at a $$$$$ cost, which didn't make sense as it would end up looking.... exactly the same---such a complete waste of money and a huge disappointment that HD would not offer support for such expensive products. This is where Gwen stepped in to go above and beyond and the save the day. She was able to source a replacement Gen 1 motor directly from Hunter Douglas even when my original installer was unable to. Cost factor aside, it's also the practical and logical approach to attempt repair first as my fabric vanes were in perfect condition and it would be silly to unnecessarily replace. When the replacement motor arrived, we discovered that one of the components on the track was also damaged (likely due to the motor failure). Gwen proposed sending in the track to an authorized HD repair facility to see if it could be repaired, and only ordering a new system as a last resort. I SO appreciated this approach as it would literally save $$$$ (thousands!) if I could avoid having to order a new system. Happy to report that the repair approach worked and they were able to fix the track so that the replacement motor worked!! I had been living a fishbowl life for the past 3 months (every person/car that passed by could see clearly inside my kitchen/living area) but my exhibitionist Life of a Showgirl era is finally over! Endlessly grateful to CEMAC and Gwen in particular and will reach out to them first for any future window treatment (and it turns out flooring as well!) needs--highly recommend!!! ‍

This was all free to us, and we did not have to request anything - CEMAC suggested it to us because they stand by their products and workmanship. First, the installation team left without addressing the cracks/damage to my windowsill. They obviously saw the damage but did not mention it or let me know that someone would be scheduled to come back and fix it. I had to call the company myself and send pictures before they sent someone out. When they came back, all they did was sand down the damaged area and fill it in. I am also very disappointed with the fit of the shutters. I was told afterward that the shutters are not custom-sized and that the gap around them is "industry standard" because of the sizing of new-build windows. The gap is large enough that you can actually see the screws, which makes the shutters look like they were not properly sized for the window. What makes this even more disappointing is that their website advertises "custom shutters" and describes their shutters as having a "perfect fit." Someone came to my home to measure my windows before I purchased them, so I was under the impression that the shutters would be custom measured and ordered specifically for my windows. I was also told that I would have to wait weeks for the shutters because they needed to be ordered in the correct size. The final result does not look or feel like a custom, perfect-fit installation. When someone finally came out to address the damaged windowsill, I was also told that if I wanted to cover the large gap, I should purchase a weather stripping product from Amazon and install it myself. I was very surprised that after spending $1,500 on two windows, I was being directed to purchase something myself to make the shutters look properly finished. Had I known beforehand that there would be a noticeable gap, visible screws, and that I would essentially need to add my own weather stripping to make the installation look finished, I would have purchased from a different company. I spent approximately $1,500 on shutters for just two windows, so I expected a much better fit and finish. I understand that some clearance may be necessary for installation, but the large gap and visible screws are not what I expected from a company advertising custom shutters and a perfect fit. Overall, while the customer service was pleasant, I am extremely disappointed with the final product and the way the installation issues were handled. I wish the expectations regarding sizing, gaps, and installation had been made clear before I made the purchase.
