I towed my car to Jim's after it wouldn't start during some below freezing days in December. They called me stating that the spark plugs were good, the fuel pump was good, but there was no oil in the car. They asked if I wanted to pay additional diagnostic fees to check the compression. A few hours later they called to tell me there was no compression and that the engine needed to be replaced. I asked if it could be started just to drive it a block home and they told me there was no compression and it wasn't possible to get it started. When I told them I would have it towed they offered me $200 for it if I didn't want to deal with towing it. We took it to another shop for a 2nd opinion and they called me within 2 minutes of leaving to let me know that the car started, but the oil was dangerously low. They completed an oil change and checked it over, said it runs great for a car with 200,000 miles on it and we haven't had any issues since. I don't know if they are not very good at their job, or if it was something deeper, but always get a 2nd opinion! read more
