Breakfast plate

Totally low key place for a meal. It's right in the middle of a pedestrian thoroughfare. Sit on the side tables and people watch. We had breakfast here, and it was fairly good. Staff took our order and brought out the food quickly. Very very casual so don't expect attentive service.

It's located in Queen's street in the middle of the brand name shops. It is an open space restaurant and no wait list when we got in. Service was average. The attendant was very polite. We needed a refill of water instead she gave us a pitcher . Good job Ambiance was very casual. Food was good. Ordered : Angus beef salad - needed more veggies for me. It has a lot of juicy meats. The dressing was good . Fish and chips were ok. The fish has thick battered so it's not cooked inside but the fish was good. Steak was juicy and side salad was fresh. Fried calamari was tender. The kids loved it The chicken wings was spicy and tender It was a good stop after visiting Brisbane city. The city is clean and beautiful.

It's central and quick and has a menu with a lot of variety. As for the quality of the food, we gave it a generous 3 stars. Ginger beer 4% on tap by J Squire was a highlight.

Snapper & Tiger Prawn Spring Rolls: $19.00 AUD

More often than not when I see a restaurant that has an absolutely prime location I just sort of assume that the food is awful: it's simply so very rare to be paying such a hefty rent bill while also having the ability to invest in a quality kitchen. That was very much the case at Jimmy's on the Mall. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I will say that the atmosphere at Jimmy's is hard to beat right there on the mall, and while others have mentioned otherwise, our service was brilliant. Quick and conversational, they left an impression. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I wans't particularly hungry, so I decided to just nibble on an appetizer. What I didn't expect was that my appetizer for prawn and snapper spring rolls (4 total) would cost a whopping $19.00 AUD. Now, given this was snapper and prawn that wasn't as ridiculous as it might sound, but it was high. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Plain and simple, these were very poor spring rolls. While I can't refute that they were indeed filled with snapper and prawn, they tasted like generic seafood filler and salt, and I questioned whether I wanted to even finish the dish. Things didn't improve from there, and my co-worker gave up after a single slice of her apple and fig pizza. No Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Jimmy's is great for people watching and the service is strong if they're not packed, but the food is weak. No Star.

Who the hell serves muesli with milk? We ordered breakfast bowl, definitely what we had in mind! Mind you, muesli came out probably straight from the box. And they served us that in a bowl, with nothing underneath. Then they gave us a glass of milk and a small portion of plain greek yogurt. 1) You do not serve (plain) muesli with plain greek yogurt. 2) You don't serve muesli fresh from box in a bowl, without it being soaked in yogurt for at least a couple of hours. Or at least, don't call it a breakfast bowl, if what you're serving is just a plain muesli fresh from Coles box, with some berries on top, and charge me $17 for it! Avoid this at all cause!

Pretty good for a light lunch! Nice location right in the middle of the shopping street. Lunch starts at 11 upstairs, no table service. Came here around 10:30 (still serving breakfast) as a group of 4 walk-ins. We were seated quickly, and our server was friendly. We ordered some drinks (nice hot chocolate) while we waited for lunch time to come. My family and I ordered the calamari, mushroom & truffle arancini balls, and the haloumi & avocado sandwich. The calamari was pretty good, and the sandwich was okay (couldn't really taste anything). I thought the arancini balls were the best out of the three. All in all, would come again if I need something quick.

Officially, we were never there. This is just a photo we found on the web while trying to establish our innocence

So, a bum on the street said this was a good place to buy drugs, but when we asked the waiter for some pingaz, he made us buy a drink while we were waiting for the nurse to clean her needles. I had a James Squire Orchard Crush Apple Cider, which was a complete mixture of the harshest windshield cleaner fluid allowed outside of NASA, with some bits of apple jack cereal crushed to give it an authentic cloudy clarity, served in a pub glass 500ml cock grip mug. It took a while to drink this because the other patrons would constantly interrupt us, asking if we were there to buy drugs. My undercover monkey trainer had a Rekorderlig Pear Cider with strawberries and blackberries. It was delicious. TOO DELICIOUS. Like a liquid Jolly Roger. Something was up. Was this a sting operation to bust us for buying drugs? We decided to cut the risk and split the joint, but not before smoking the menus to get high off the soy ink. Better luck next time narco squad!

Picture this. It's 2:30am, and you are in the city, wondering, "if only there's a decent restaurant that I can go to and kick back". Well, there is such a place. Meet Jimmy's on the Mall, version 2.0! As a Brisbane institution since 1982, it has undergone an awesome face-lift! But unlike Renee Zellweger's, it is definitely for the better. Now 2 levels, shining bright like a beacon in the night (& day), open 24 hours 7 days a week. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, boutique beers, an extensive wine list & live music, Jimmy's is a much needed boost to Brisbane's ever burgeoning night life. We'd never tried Jimmy's previously (prior to the renovations), but always noticed it as one of the "cafes" in the mall. However, now that it has transformed, it definitely stands out, and you can't help but be drawn by the bright lights. There's a bar upstairs and downstairs, with the main "restaurant" section upstairs. The atmosphere is just right, not too "pubby" with the accompanying noise, even when there's some great acoustic live music happening. Our Jimmy's on the Mall Upper Deck Restaurant selection was a little naughty & healthy. Prices maybe a little on the high-end for some (admittedly it's pricey, in my opinion), but why not share plates, entrees, & pizzas. Enjoy the atmosphere & chill. The food was all-round delicious & service great. We had the: 1) Piccante Pizza. Chicken, cacciatore, mushroom, mozzarella, chilli. $24. 2) Mushroom & Truffle Arancini Balls (vegetarian). Tarator sauce, parmesan, basil oil. $16. 3) Beef croquettes. Slow cooked Kimberley red beef, garlic & almond dip. $17. 4) White cut chicken & mango salad. Mango, cashew, watercress, picked leaves, tomatoes, chilli, sesame & ginger dressing. $26. We were too full, to try dessert, but its always a reason to come back. Jimmy's on the mall, do not take reservations, so if you're in a group like we were, it might be a bit harder to get a table, but we didn't wait very long at all. If you have a chance to check it out, the new Jimmy's is a great option for catching up with friends.

Uncooked and over cooked egg

I was looking for a nice breakfast and I came to this restaurant, I had been here before for the drinks and as usual they were on point, however when it came to my food I got avocado on toast and the one of the eggs was raw and the other over cooked the avacado was old and brown and there were weird brown food in it, the toast was soggy and most of the dish was the rocket. I DO NOT recommend this dish if yo hate looking for something delicious

If you are hungry or thirsty...and its a strange hour the likelihood is that somewhere along the line you will end up at Jimmy's on the mall. This is one of a few restaurants that are seated in the center of Queen street which is appealing in itself as you are right there in the middle of the busiest shopping strip in Queensland. The service, in spite of the fact its always packed is usually pretty good here but unfortunately you can't expect the same standard for the food. I have eaten here several times and have found the meals (regardless of the time of day) to be mediocre at best and overpriced for what they give you. I think this is a real pity considering most tourists are magnetized to these places due to their location. Nevertheless there are few places that can cater for a 3:00am steak and when your only other options are the likes of Hungry Jacks and Mcdonalds Im sure you, like I would find myself here as well.

Tess B.

I worked in the city, right across from Jimmy's for three years, and I've never known it to not be busy. That strikes me as a good recommendation for them though, because there is always a new crowd of people trying to bustle through its doors (even though it has no doors, just visualise with me). Jimmy's is open 24/7 with a great range of beers on tap and sandwich + chips meal that really knows how to hit the spot. It's a great venue whether you want a big hot breakfast, you're craving some chips after a big night out, or you want to enjoy the city atmosphere with a beer in hand. They offer everything from wraps, burgers, and fish and chips through to asian selections. There's essentially a menu option to please just about everyone. Their full menu is available online and whether you're a Brisbane resident or just passing though, Jimmy's is a Brisbane icon you should really try at least once.

Stephanie A.

I have only been to Jimmy's for afternoon drinks therefore can not comment on their food but what I can say is that it is situated in an excellent spot to meet up with friends and have a couple of drinks (I'm pretty sure the phrase "I'll meet you at Jimmy's" is one I here frequently). Situated right in the middle of Queen street and right behind Cafe East, Jimmy's could not have picked a better location to lure exhausted city-slickers in need of an after work drink. There are a few things that put me off this place though, because of its central location, you get a lot of the business-types and it is obvious that the staff are more interested in serving them rather than young 20-something casually dressed individuals like myself. If you do like going to busy places, then I would suggest you give this place a miss. All in all, Jimmy's is not a bad bar and I probably will end up visiting it again in the near the future.

This restaurant is really worth going to I've eaten wagyu…read morebeef before, this is the first time I've eaten aussie beef, it's really too tender and delicious really highly recommended ‼ Signature Aussie Beef 79/person We ordered the store's signature Aussie Beef , it was really super super tasty, we ordered it medium rare and it tasted like it melted in your mouth. The meat is different on both sides, one side is filet and the other side I don't remember. Personally, I prefer the filet, the meat on the other side is a little fattier, 79 for one, two to start. The portion and juice is super juicy, and when eating other appetizers you'll feel like this place is middle of the road. Oysters natural 36/half dozen. The oysters are super fresh and the sauce is very special It doesn't taste fishy at all and retains the flavor of the oyster itself, I didn't get much sand which is a plus . Beef Bone Marrow 30. This beef bone marrow is not greasy at all, the heat mastered very well, not only to retain the bone marrow its own fat, but not too oily, with the sauce is a little bit like mustard sauce, very tasty, and with beef bone marrow texture balance is very good. The only downside might be that I'm not a big fan of toasted baguettes They felt too tough. Beef tartare 32. my friend is the ultimate lover of tartare , went to a lot of places to eat, personal feeling is more moderate, the beef is tasty and fresh, but there is no special taste, compared to the beef is inferior. You can skip it if you want to order STEAK. Roasted cabbage . Point to what time to see the wrong thought is bamboo shoots, but in fact quite tasty, I myself is not very like to eat meat all the time, interspersed with a mouthful of vegetables feel more flavorful meat. Cabbage is baked, the outside is more burnt, the inside is still tender, I feel useful tomatoes cooking, eat sour, very unctuous. Butter mashed potatoes 16. personal feeling general, butter flavor and creamy did not imagine so heavy, eat up a kind of KFC mashed potatoes feeling, but also may be because we point too much, and finally eat has been satiated, would like to go to the friends can make a reservation in advance, we went to more than nine o'clock is still a lot of people! The store has fewer waiters. The service will be slower, you can let the waiter ‍ recommend red wine can drink alcohol can try Red wine with beef really eat more and more flavorful

Sorry Australia, but you suck at cooking steaks…read more After a few tries at a few places, I'm now convinced that you export all your good beef and force the leftovers upon your unknowing citizens. My last attempt of an Australian steak was at Cha Cha Char. The waitress assured me that the Wagyu rump had the best marbling of any of their steaks and it would be the fattiest. My cohorts ordered a couple of the other steaks, so we had a fair assessment of the spread. Opening up the dinner was an auto-amuse of beef wrapped around some stuff. Meh, nothing too fancy here; http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qKhgQa4HSqeYJyN26QqPIQ?select=7hdJuLedzLIvyT9Lm73gjA#7hdJuLedzLIvyT9Lm73gjA Then came my steak with a side of very well executed fried gnocchi. The side was the best part of the meal, each ingredient was there with a purpose and had my plate been full of just this, it would have been a much nicer dinner. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qKhgQa4HSqeYJyN26QqPIQ?select=FXH2o8O0XYecvAXIsTmrRQ#FXH2o8O0XYecvAXIsTmrRQ The steak itself had an okay crust and was seasoned well enough. But looking inside you can sympathize with my disappointment. Zero marbling. I've had "Australian Wagyu" all over the states and even the worst of that lot easily trumps what was on my plate. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qKhgQa4HSqeYJyN26QqPIQ?select=d-M97RYS3NpQ8_3mpNp0Tw#d-M97RYS3NpQ8_3mpNp0Tw It was chewy, not that juicy, and really lean. Lean should not exist in a highly marbled steak. Neither of the other two steaks order fared much better. Overall, a miss and the nail in the coffin of my ever trying to enjoy steak down under again. I have on good knowledge that every year these restaurants bid on the prize cows that come from around the country. Basically they try and get the cow that will give them the best steak in a cow auction. It's very prestigious and the top cows have been known to have been bought for over $15000... back in the day, could be more now. To have won this cow, is to have claimed the title The Best Steak In Brisbane pretty much. MSA certified etc etc etc it is the cow to have ticked all the boxes, and now it was up to the chefs. Having said that, these guys know how to cook up the best steak. The prices are on the pricey side being in the fancy pants Eagle Street Pier and the waiters are very particular about the sides and side sauces you put next to your piece of beef. On a Friday night, it gets a bit loud with the business men of Brisbane crowding into their regular tables, opening up their expensive wines and sitting down for the 9:30pm service... the Saturday NIght crowd seems a little better in my opinion. Don't expect there to be many sides with your steak, and expect the steaks to be over $40. Yes, you can get steaks somewhere else for cheaper, but no you won't have had the Cha Cha Char experience that I need everyone to have. So check it out just because.

As the malt and milo shakes of course contain gluten. The malt version even has biscuit chunks in it. Going by the decor, chirpy staff and funky location it was everything I could have wanted.. apart from the food situation. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice marinated mushroom. Very moist.. and mushroomy.. and herby. I also had rocket and pumpkin on my lettuce cup. So all in all, it was very green and crunchy and healthy. In a sad way. Prices were on the steep side especially as it looked like everything was standard McDonalds burger size (thankfully the patties were medium rare, however). The shakes were huge and by all reports AMAZING but super filling. I can't say I will go here again. It's just too much watching people eat delicious, fatty, flavoursome burgers. If you walk straight through Morrison's Pub and out the back, you'll enter into Fiasco's…read moreSteakhouse. Please wait to be seated as Fiasco's does get booked out quite regularly, especially towards the weekend. The restaurant manager is no nonsense about service and treats you as though you should be too. I have to admit, I skipped to the back of the menu where they had their steak list. All of the cuts had the weight, location, diet and back story listed. Each listing said "Grain Fed". Now, I for one, think it's horribly odd where we live in a world where grain fed beef is celebrated. Traditionally, cows eat grass. Cows can eat grain, but they aren't meant to: it's not nearly as healthy for them, but people who sell steak often don't care about the welfare of the cow, they care about how fast they can 'grow' meat, so as to sell enough steak to meet ever increasing demand. I chose the 400g black angus rump (180 days) for $31.00 (all meals come with salad and chips/potato). The knife just sank in and exposed that perfect medium rare flesh so easily that I damn near forgot my moral apprehension about eating this steak. It was delicious, I have to admit. My friends who choose the porterhouse were also impressed. One steak is a whole lot of food and you may have trouble getting through it alone. Make sure you're really hungry before you come. You can get a steak from $30. If you're a bit like me and care about eating ethical meats, you might have issues with Fiasco's. If you don't care so much, you'll be glad to know the steak is delicious and that it's worth the moula you put down for it.

Had a 7:30 booking, a long time in advance. Called up at 7pm to ask if they had free parking spaces. They assured us they did and that it wouldn't be a problem. Arrived at 7:25pm. They did not have a free park. Managed to snag one at around 7:43pm. Waited in line until 7:50 just to be acknowledged to be given literally the worst seat in the entire restaurant. While the couple in front of us with no booking got a relatively cosy table out the front. (I assume they gave away our table, realised their mistake and gave us a makeshift one, it certainly wasn't set for two) We were sat down and told we'd have a specific waitress managing our table. This turned out to be false. We waited 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged by a waitress. We waved. Stared. Called out. No response. I wound up resorting to attempting to call the restaurant as I thought it might be the only thing that could illicit a response without having everyone in the room stare at me. Thankfully she arrived at this point. We ordered our food, some drinks and asked for water in the meantime. 5-10 minutes later the drinks arrive. (water was forgotten). And that's the story so far at 8:25pm. 8:50 and no food has arrived. I decided to flag down a waitress more forcibly and get a different seat away from under the kitchen heatlamps. Hopefully the right side of my head doesn't develop cancer. If it does it might make this one hour wait more enjoyable though. Silver linings. 8:52 I summon another waitress. My invisibility seems to have worn off. I ask where the food is. She says they're plating it up now. 8:57pm food arrives. In an amount of time that suspiciously feels like it would have taken them to fry a steak and gather some chips and salad. Chips are soggy and I'd honestly prefer hungry jacks chips. Salad was pleasant. Steak was great. The two star review stands. It might have been a better use of my time to find a cow, kill it and then fry it rather than wait this long again. I believe we were able to exit the venue at 9:15pm. At this point I had some time in the car to reflect on the prior events with my partner. At first we mused that perhaps we were overlooked as the only interracial couple in the venue. This led us to believe that the owner is perhaps an expatriated confederate. This would certainly be corroborated by the faux cowskin seating. I think the real beautiful part of this evening is that after a relatively turbulent week with a lot of relationship stress we came out a stronger couple. Many cultures bond over having a common enemy. Our combined hatred of the abhorrent service made us leave feeling more happy with each other than ever. I still remember our combined sigh of relief as we were able to leave the venue. It's going to be etched into my brain for a while. Edit: Originally this review was 2 stars. The server we complained to told us management would be in contact with us to resolve the situation. It has been 4 days since then and no one has contacted me.
