Went for lunch here today - the first time we'd even been inside despite living only 5 miles away…read more We were amazed at how nice it was as most of the other pubs in the area are very poor and I certainly wouldn't recommend them (like The Colliers for instance which has disappointed us in several ways each time we've been there). However the Rolling Mill was very pleasant and welcoming, clean and comfortable. The landlord was friendly, as was the young woman who served at the tables in the dining room. Beers on offer include John Smith's, Brains Dark, Stella Artois, Strongbow and Carlsburg. There's a small area with a wide-screen television beside the bar, with windows over the front of the pub, and a dining room at the back overlooking a beer garden with nice views. (Another room contained a pool table, but we didn't go in there) The dining room was very comfortable, with photos of celebrities who've eaten there. The real surprise was the food; I can honestly say you get more for your money here as the meals are huge - but the prices are no more than in other pubs, indeed less expensive than many. There's a great choice, including several vegetarian dishes. We can personally recommend the veggie curry (£6.25) which comes with rice, or chips, jacket potato, or rice and chips. The evening menu is slightly different, and the Sunday menu varies as well. All in all, a great pub, and one we will be visiting again soon!

Lots of seating (of all kinds) and wooden tables in this large pub so it's usually easy to find somewhere to sit and have lunch. It's such a great and varied menu for everyone (including vegetarians - even a choice for vegans!) and incredibly good value, especially on one of the 'special' days. Our favourite is Thursdays when it's the 'Curry Club'. You can have two starters, two main courses and two drinks (including a pint of beer and glass of wine) for £10! We used to seek out specialist vegetarian restaurants and cafes when visiting different towns but now we look for a branch of Wetherspoon instead. We can be sure of a great choice and only spend about a third of the price. Big fans!

They are very clean, service orientated and do good food & drink promotions. Like all the the other pubs in the chain, the name is derived from local history and decorating the interior walls are old photos showing the High Street & Station Road going back to the beginning of last century. Plus a brief history of the namesake of the pub name. Like I said JD Wetherspoons have different promotions on at differing times. This usually involves wine festivals and meal deals. On my particular visit the Real Ale Festival (£1.50/£1.60 on selected local real ales) was ongoing plus it was their Thursday curry night (Curry & drink for £4.99 which is a £1 cheaper than the Smith & Jones chain of pubs who also have curry nights on Thursday.) The pubs was quite spacious incl. a room for private parties upstairs. he bar was also tastefully furnished too. Would recommend it for a good meal & drink, plus it is central to Port Talbot in terms of location.

There are dining areas at either end at tables of various sizes. Although there were several people dining we still found a quiet and comfortable place to sit. The landlady and her daughter were very pleasant and the younger girl who was serving the meals at the tables was really delightful, so friendly and helpful. My only criticisms are that the landlady forgot to make my coffee (funny that's happened to me in two pubs within a week!) and there was only one vegetarian meal on the menu/specials board, despite a huge choice for the meat eaters. There is a small car park out the front and the toilets are clean and well looked after.

It's a large place, but it's still advisable to book - they have a good reputation now, and often it's difficult to get a table on a Saturday night. The menu offers a good range of food, with something for everyone. They offer good steaks, lamb shanks (lush!), chicken in a range of sauces etc, and there's always something tempting on their specials board. There's a nice atmosphere in the pub, and they don't hurry you away from your table, if you want to sit around and chat over a drink. Families of all ages are welcome as well.

I…read moredon't think you could find a better-value place anywhere in the area for good quality meals. Not only is the menu extremely varied (with several imaginative choices for vegetarians and vegans) but excellent value too. For example, a burger and salad in a large roll with chips and a pint of beer for under £5 - or how about two delicious curries with poppadoms and nan breads with a glass of wine and a pint of Guinness, all for under £10!! There are many carpeted areas with dining tables and comfortable chairs and everything is clean and well looked after. Service has been fast each time we've been there - three times in the last month (I doubt it will be long before we go there again either!) The bar staff are friendly and pleasant, especially Lloyd who is great (he was very helpful when we lost our keys recently)! There is also a disabled toilet at ground level for anyone who can't manage the stairs; useful for mums with young children too.

The food and drink are relatively cheap, with lots of choice on the menu. I've eaten here a few times. I would highly recommend their breakfasts - they are excellent value, with lots of food on your plate. Whenever I've been there in the morning, there's a real mix of people - from middle aged men having their first (of many) pints of the day, to older ladies with blue or purple rinses meeting for a coffee and a chat. I've also had Sunday lunch there, which was a bit of a disappointment. The pub was really busy and they'd run out of many of the items on the menu. Roast beef without a yorkshire pudding??? Finally, the toilets are upstairs, something to bear in mind if your legs can't manage the stairs.
