Formally a cinema or 'picture palace', this branch of the Wetherspoon chain still retains the…read morebeautiful high ceilings and original plasterwork with a sweeping staircase, gilt trim and art deco touches. Quite large, as you would expect, so plenty of tables and chairs upstairs near the bar or downstairs at street level. It's spaciously laid out so avoids the cramped atmosphere of so many places these days, and the lighting is soft and pleasant. The menu is extensive with plenty of choices for everyone, including vegetarians, and very good value. There are many 'special offers' to look out for too (burger with free beer every day, or excellent curries with free drinks on Thursdays, for example). I was there today and enjoyed my lunch enormously; the house wine was been a delicious Merlot and my husband was perfectly happy with the draught Guinness. The friendly barman Jamie was an added bonus. TV flat screens on the walls and free WiFi too so a definite thumbs up all round!

When i went to 'whetherspoons' I decided to have an ultimate burger (which I recommend to try) and the meal was out standing ; It had a juice burger covered with creamy cheese along with some fresh lettuce and tomato with its iconic burger sauce, Also I had deep-fat fried chips that were lovely with a side of mayonnaise. That's why I gave whetherspoons 5 stars and I hope you keep on working at this standard.

In terms of history the Cambrian Inn was one of many early 19th century inns and taverns that…read moreserved the sailors, dockworkers and ship's masters who frequented the busy docklands area of Seaside in Llanelli. The original building would have been of traditional style with a thatched roof and small rooms. In 1872 Marine Street could boast 12 licensed premises with the Cambrian Hotel, Pilot Arms, and Trafalgar Inn next door to each other. Other premises in Marine Street included the Sailors Arms, Friends Inn, Albion Hotel, Mariners Inn, Liverpool Arms, Glanmor Arms, Ship & Pilot Inn, Cardigan Arms, and the Royal Exchange. By the 21st century the Cambrian was the only public house in Marine Street, once the main street of Seaside. The past aside, you look at the pub at present and it resembles a typical back street pub on the surface which looks quite small in dimension from the outside. All is not as it seems, as the inside is much bigger. It is decorated in traditional fashion and is very cosy. The lounge is very comfortable & clean whilst the bar room is quite spacious. The lounge boasts a jukebox and football memrobilia on the wall as befits the Headquarters of Seaside AFC. The trophies are out on display in the bar area of the inn. The Cambrian has Sky TV Live Matches shown on a big screen TV too. There is also further entertaiment on offer with live music showcasing periodically. There are also pool tables & darts to be had for further amusement. The pub serves Felinfoel Ales & brand beers. The service is both friendly & prompt whilst the cilentele are locals to the area by and large. Well worth a visit.
