This time I decided to go in right around 1 am and I was only planning on staying for about 15 min because I was waiting for a friend to pick me up at the train station across the street so I wanted to kill time i know that they were open bc I saw the manager (shorter guy black hair )come out with a beer in his hand and drink it in front of the business while talking on the phone loudly. When I walked up to the door it was locked and the bartender looked confused .. so I tried to call them on their phone and they both. Looked at me as if I'm committing some type of crime because I was asking them why I couldn't come inside . They both told me to fuck off and kept the door locked . Extremely unprofessional . The manager could have Atleast came up to me and made up something to not be rude but he didn't even bother doing that . The bartender looked confused but I only put 5 stars so they could see this . You guys are ridiculous.... Idk about ever coming back again and I'll be letting everyone know about this . Mary is a lovely lady and runs a tight ship when it comes to making sure her bar is a welcoming place where people can mingle without a crap-load of drama. Act up and you're out the door. Most of us are up there in years and appreciate we have a place to tip a few without having to scream over rap or metal music but instead can dance a few to our favorite oldies. It's pretty convenient to get to by public transportation though because it's close to the Metra station. This is also close to Jefferson Inn, another local place for cheap drinks and good times. Lots of beers on draft and plenty more in bottles and cans. There's usually some kind of specials on drinks or whatever. Last time it was $5 Jack cocktails. I found my self at this hyper local community focused neighborhood pub. This place was bustling with friendly regulars who all seemed to live in the area, a live band performing old school hits (Beatles, Springfield, Buffet, etc). The drinks were cheap and the staff was friendly. The owner was a really nice guy, former military, no-nonsense type. A number of the patrons also seemed to be former military. While not overbearing or anything I should note this place does have a bit of that old school military/police/fire meets Harley-Davidson type-feel, often found in these neighborhood bars in the suburbs. I personally don't mind this but felt it worth mentioning as I know some people can find this intimidating - in Landmarks case they definitely shouldn't! It seemed clear to me that everyone knew we were not regulars and really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable (staff and patrons alike)! We had a great night and I look forward to visiting again soon.
