Cup full of ice

I recently moved to La Crosse for work, and I work less than 1.5 miles from this location. In the 5 or so times I've ordered for delivery, only one time did it arrive in less than an hour. No idea how it takes so long. Be sure to order at least an hour before you actually want it. I've had JJ's from many other locations and never had it take as consistently long as this one takes. I don't usually order a drink from them, but I did today, and that was a huge mistake. My cup was literally packed so tight with ice that I couldn't take drink without sucking up ice. There was probably only 10 oz of soda in there, if that, for a 22oz drink that cost $1.75. My mistake for not spending that on an actual 22oz soda from the vending machine. Only reason I didn't give 1 star is because the sandwiches are thankfully always really well made and tasty.

Count on them getting your order wrong about 25% of the time. They frequently forget to add the Hot Peppers that you pay extra for.

Good vegetarian subs and they really do make them quick. Plus, it's usually open until bar time.

People's is a beacon of light in La Crosse, WI. It's a medium sized co-op off of King and 5th, with…read moreminimal parking to the side of the building, but extra parking behind the building near the bank. Be careful though, there are signs that designate certain parking spots for bank customers only. On the outside, it's not overly impressive but as always, it's what's on the inside that counts. When you walk in, the fresh produce (local if available, organic and conventional options all abound) is the first thing you see. Nestled inside of the produce department is a generous salad bar, where you can build your own salad from a serious array of veggies, proteins and toppings for about $6 a pound. Not a bad deal if you're on the run or at the store and don't feel like cooking tonight! There's also an aisle solely dedicated to bulk foods, and their selection is completely impressive. Take a stroll down that aisle before settling on anything pre-boxed or pre-bagged. Make sure you take one of their provided stickers and write the PLU (provided on the dispensing canisters) on the bag for the person at the check out! They've got your standard fare (cereals, canned items, household cleaning items), but with an eye to what's organic, local, environmentally friendly etc. Their meat and dairy department is amazing, and you can pick up farm fresh eggs that are locally grown and harvested for just under $4 a dozen. I purchased some ground beef that was locally raised and grass fed, and it was exceptional. There's a fantastic deli department with pre-made items, a bakery that can definitely get you in trouble, and a wine and beer aisle with a cold side if you're in a hurry. There's even a section for essential oils and charcoal soaps and things of that nature. The best part is, you don't need to be a member to shop here. Membership is encouraged at about $100 or so a year, and you get special savings that way. I recommend the co-op to everyone I come across!

Parking is pretty accessible as well and the food here was fairly priced. I did think it was a bit odd that the restrooms were a bit of a long walk. The lines do move really slow and they tend to keep only one cash registered line open. Overall, it was a general grocery store with checking out.

M and I tried Jersey Mike's for the first time ever in Onalaska, WI new location. When we first got…read morethere, we noticed that it was FREEZING inside of the restaurant! The temperature inside was about that same as it was outside. When noticed that the prices seemed pretty steep on the menu, but in reality I guess it is reasonable when you can get a giant sandwich for about 15 bucks and is 16 inches or a regular for about 8-9 bucks depending on what kind of sandwich you get. I ordered the Super Italian and my partner got the Chicken Bacon Ranch. The girl that asked me what I wanted on the sandwich must have been new, because she repeatedly kept asking me what I wanted, even after we sat down at the table. My advice would be to right down the toppings if you don't feel you will remember what I said. I will slow down the order time if you have to keep asking. Not being mean, but just trying to be helpful. She still didn't get my order right, and my sandwich was pretty messy, but had a good flavor. I did not want to Red Wine Vinegar on it, but she put it on there anyways, and I'm sure it was because she didn't remember. It was hard for us to enjoy our sandwiches because it was so cold in the restaurant. The outside temp was about 36 degrees, and the inside temp was about the same it seemed. Also, I noticed the blower to the air system was still on. If your heat isn't working, why are you blowing constant cold air through the vents? I know it wasn't anything they could help as far as heat was concerned, but don't keep the blowers going. Other than the messed up order on the sandwich and the cold air, we will still try this place again.

That was a mistake lol his sandwich was so much better than mine. Even though he gets onions and extra mayo and plenty of things I don't like, I still made him switch sandwiches with me halfway through. Happy wife, happy life, right? I'm glad they offered it and I will be getting my sandwiches made with it every time from here on out!
