I ended up getting a blueberry scone and an iced cafe latte. I think each one was like NZ$7. The scone itself was a big size with lots of berries inside. I like that it came with some butter on the side. They warmed it up and so I used some of the butter and it was delish. It had a slight crust and was chewy on the inside. My iced latte was okay as I wish it had a stronger coffee flavor. They do offer a bunch of baked goods that look scrumptious and wanted to try more.

I used to just love their steak 'n' cheese pies of old, but thought I'd try one today for old times sake. All in all, it was a good pie. I don't like flaky pastry in a pie...I'm more of a short crust fan. It doesn't fall apart when being gobbled at speed nor does it make a huge mess while driving. The pie I got was piping hot. There was a couple of steak which had been seasoned well. The rest of the filling was gravy and melted cheese. Very tasty but could have don with more steak. I mean, I paid for a steak 'n' cheese, not gravy 'n' cheese. I bought an afghan because they looked scrumptious. Unfortunately, it was not as good as it looked. Lastly, I happened to buy a banana and caramel tart. I'm more of a custard pie fan. This was no tart, it was too big. Plus it had no hallmarks of a tart. What it was though, was a banoffee pie. A miniature one. If you love banoffee, then this is the treat for you. Hell, I don't even like banoffee pie. I love this one from the Westside Bakehouse. And I'll make sure I pop in to buy the "BANANA CARAMEL TART."

Category winner, Steak and Cheese, is the pie I ordered, at $4.00 it is a little beauty. The pastry is delicately flakey and perfectly crisp, the filling is perfectly flavoured and balanced. Well deserving of its Gold accolade. There is a whole range of other pie flavours like bacon and egg, potato top, chicken, mince etc and you can bet they would also taste delicious. You can order main meals from the blackboard menu if you prefer non counter fare. Their range of sweet cakes and treats looked fabulous, in all a great place to grab a bite. If you are not on the run, then relax in the restaurant as they have plenty of seating and it is clean and modern.

My favourite is the Vietnamese filled roll & when you toast it .. It's yummy warm & crunchy. Their savoury & sweet muffins are a generous size. So they bake all their yummy breads. They have a great selection of special variety breads. They still make large toasties good old favourite. They also have lovely variety of cakes .. So for some of my past reviews I've even considered to deduct stars off. Now that is not to say I didn't enjoy my meal here, I've loved the food every single time, it's just that there are a few bits and pieces that made me reluctant to give a full 5 stars. I've always enjoyed their sandwiches. While they come in quite on the expensive side, I find them worth the price. My French toast this morning was $19.50 (or $19), probably not for the faint of heart. The raspberry/custard was gorgeous, which to me more than justifies the price, it is winter after all. Here's why there's no five stars. First off, please please please get your cutleries sorted!!! I think I can cut my French toast better if I used the handle of the knife. The first knife I got was super obviously bent at the tip, about 45 degrees bent! Service, just as others pointed out, needs some quality control. I can try to justify your price as much as I can but dining in just isn't that great, and while your food is great, everything else is, well, meh. So on the basis of "I value good food more than anything", it's a 4 stars UPDATE: Service has improved since my last visit. It was a busy lunch but we still got taken care of :)
