What drew us to the dojo, and why it has been so beneficial for my sons, is the traditional and deep teaching which Sensei provides, given his vast experience. Further, Sensei and Lisa provide a structured and focused environment, which helps my sons practice discipline, stillness of mind, and control of body, which is what I was seeking for them, given the excitement and mayhem which surrounds so much our daily world. I am nearing 60 years old and work as a Captain with FDNY and many of the members that I work with are 20 years (some close to 30 years) younger than me. Through this training I have lost weight and gained flexibility and functional strength; and just move better. This helps me to keep up with the younger members. The Instructors are highly skilled in martial arts as well as teaching and there is never a lack of personal attention. You are not just getting a good workout but learning a traditional martial art and valuable self defense techniques. Overall the classes just make me feel good. I have continued trained in martial arts into adulthood, and it has been one of the most fulfilling pursuits of my life.
