I have two reasons for leaving a two star review. First, our experience purchasing the vehicle was nice. Mel is a new salesman and he was very kind and attentive. We purchased a vehicle the first week of November and the check engine light came on Thanksgiving weekend. We took the vehicle to be diagnosed so we would have an understanding of why the check engine light was on and the diagnosis stated we needed a crank case replaced on the engine (I have no idea what that is or if that's a large or small repair). read more

I have contacted this dealer on several occasions. Every time they promise me phone calls, texts, pics, info and not once have they ever followed up with me. Went to the dealer in person and looked at vehicles since the staff had no interest in helping me. Sticker prices way over market. Talked to a mechanic there, they have a huge backlog of vehicles waiting to be serviced, many more than they have for sale. I called the sales manager several times and never got anything but voicemail. I then called his cell phone and he never answered. Absolutely, disgustingly horrible. I didn't realize that I have not previously written a review on just how horrible this dealer is. I purchased a vehicle here in 2015, based on the promise they would be able to do about $3k worth of upgrades. They have me an extremely dirty, nasty 200 for 3+ weeks they told me it would take to get the work done. After 3 weeks, I called to get an estimated timing of completion. They told me a few weeks longer. After almost a month, I received a call saying THEY COULD NOT DO ANY OF THE UPGRADES THEY PROMISED. They never followed up after my complaints. Clearly, no sense of customer service. Fast forward, I purchased an oil change plan for 4 oil changes in 2 years right before covid shutdown. They never honored the oil change that was pre-purchased. Overall, just a disgrace of the vehicle brands they represent. I will drive 45 minutes to work with another dealer bc they are terrible!!! read more

Two years ago I bought a used car (lease turn in) from this dealership. I was told by the salesman (Keith) the car had no prior damage or accidents per the alleged carfax report. I later found out the car had been repaired and repainted. I was also told by Keith I was approved through Capital One finance with an interest rate over 10.00%. They told me if I purchased dealership backed coverage for certain items (wheels, engine, electrical etc) they could reduce my interest rate to 7.88%. I later contacted Capital One (too late) and they said they only approved me for 7.88% and advised me I was scammed by the dealership. Even though this was partially my fault, Jim Riehls in Lapeer Michigan completely lied and scammed me and who knows how many documents they forged. My advice is not only to get preapproved before going to a dealership and take all cars to a body shop and looked at by a TRUSTED professional, DO NOT EVER buy a car from Jim Riehls Lapeer!! read more

Do not use this dealer. They will be all nice to you to get you to buy a vehicle. But after you buy it they are done with you. We bought a 2020 ram 5500 with a flat bed installed. It did not come with a spare tire. We ordered one through them and it was there when we pick up the truck. It looked just like what was on the truck. After a few weeks we contacted the salesman to see about getting a few things done or added to the truck. He said he would get back to us. We waited a while (a week) and no reply. So we contacted him again. And we got the same reply and same result. So we gave up on using this dealer. Then I was moving the spare tire that we bought from them. And after looking it over. I realized it was not balanced. So they sold us a spare tire and rim for $800.00 but did not balance it. So now I am going to have to take it some where and pay for it to be balanced. The after service care from this dealer is just bad. I gave them 1 star only because I couldn't give them ZERO. read more

We have used this dealer for a number of leases and never had a problem with sales, service is another thing. I have had intermittent problems with the radio in my 2016 Ram starting a week or two after picking it up. Took it in for service and since the radio was working at that moment they told me they couldn't diagnose it and to bring it back when it wasn't working. So after almost a year I was able to get it to the dealer when it wasn't working. I have now waited almost a month for them to get the part. When they do get it in I am going to tell them to keep it. I'll wait until it goes out again and take it to another dealer. I guess since they don't make as much $$ on warranty repairs as they do other service they aren't too interested in warranty work. I leased a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country here for my wife. The buying experience was good but the service department is horrible. This winter, the right tire was stuck in snow on the shoulder of the road and the van made a loud bang which caused the van to become immobile. The van with 19, xxxx miles was towed by Chrysler roadside to "Friendly" for being immobile and a blind spot sensor which failed (for the second time). Two days later I was told by the service manager Tom Miller that the van would need an axle and possibly has transmission damage which wasn't going to be covered under the factory warranty even though it specifically lists the axleshafts, transmission, ect as a covered components. He told me that this was an insurance claim and he wasn't going to commit warranty fraud. I had to hold back my laughter as I explained to him that I was not in an accident (there was no other damage, I just had one wheel stuck in the snow and I was driving out just like any other driver would have done) and the axle failed (which it shouldn't have) and it should be covered under the factory warranty. Needless to say Tom said he couldn't do anything (he even asked the sales manager Bob Riehl who said he would not do anything for me) and to pick up my immobile van. So I asked if he was going to fix the blind spot sensor, he said "No, you will need to pick up your van". Can you imagine a new car dealership, the same dealership you leased your new vehicle with a factory warranty from telling you to "come pick up your vehicle"? I couldn't believe what I was hearing! So for $105 I had a tow truck go and pick up my 2013 Chrysler Town and Country with 19, xxx miles from the dealership I purchased it from and bring it to my home where I would fix it myself. The first thing I noticed is that they never even looked at my car. The front wheel was never even removed because it still had snow in the lug nuts. Upon removing the right front tire I could see the the axleshaft just pulled out of the C/V joint. It didn't even technically break, it just pulled out. I put a new axle shaft in myself and of course it drives perfect, no "transmission damage" as the certified "service manager" told me. This service department is a joke! Do not buy a car here because you could end up like me having to work on your own car because "Friendly" will not honor the factory warranty coverage. I have bought many, many new cars and I have never been treated so poorly. Of course, I did call Chrysler Customer Care who apologized for my mistreatment and then promptly refunded the tow bill and the cost of the axleshaft. I may buy another Chrysler (my wife really loves her van) but I will NEVER go back to this dealership! BUYER BEWARE!! read more

Don't know what has happened to this place recently. It used to give good service. It is now awful I would not recommend this place. I had an oil change done didn't get the car washed that I was offered when I booked in . Then I had to return two days later because the guard that covers and protects the oil pan fell of on the Highway .It was not put on securely and properly. When I returned to have the cover put back on which was damaged because it had been dragged along I69 the service department seemed put out because I requested to have it done. I got no apology or compensation for my inconvenience or damaged cover. Just plain rude and bad customer service. Won't get my business again. read more

I purchased a used truck from Jim Riehls in Lapeer- the purchase process was great. Recently my truck broke and I sent it there for service and the experience was not pleasant. At least one of the Customer Service people is extremely unprofessional despite my trying to work with him in a very patient manner. They delayed working on my vehicle with no real apologies, or concern whatsoever. I ended up pulling the vehicle and sending it to another dealer who has been extremely helpful thus far. Unfortunately for the Sales department, because of the Service department at Jim Riehls, I will be purchasing a new truck next year from someone else. My advice is to work on the customer service aspect of the service department. read more

Worst repair dealership EVER! I took my vehicle in and the service manager told me that something was wrong with the transmission, this was two weeks after already getting it fixed. When I called later that night they told me nothing is wrong with my vehicle and that it's okay, but it broke down because of the transmission! I've called other repair shops that have told me this place tends to scam people so they can get free money and not have to do any work! BUYER BEWARE . . . I was sold a vehicle that they cleared the check engine codes on before selling. The light came on less than 12 hours from the time of signing papers. The dealership would not stand behind the vehicle. I have filed complaints with the appropriate state departments for their unfair and deceptive trade practices that violate Michigan's Consumer Protection Act. Shame on you Jim Riehl. read more
