We reached the point where we did not trust the contractor to keep trying, worried that he would damage the door. I called Lake Area Safe & Lock Tuesday mid-afternoon, expecting to wait a few days for the actual service call. They called Wednesday, and Jeff showed up by mid-morning. Jeff obviously knew what he was doing. He was able to immediately troubleshoot the problem and get the lock working in short order. The charge for the service was very reasonable. Jeff was very personable, and a credit to the company. Definitely a Five-Star job all around!

Extremely Disappointed - Unacceptable and Racist Text Messages from a Technician…read more I am extremely disappointed and honestly disgusted by my recent experience with Lake Area Safe & Lock LLC, particularly with their technician, Jeff Mallet. I have used this company twice, on September 15, 2026, and October 14, 2026, and Jeff was the technician who came out for both service calls. To be fair, he did a good job performing the services, and I had no complaints about his workmanship. However, what happened afterward completely changed my opinion of both him and the company. On October 16, I received several extremely offensive and racist text messages from Jeff in which he repeatedly used the N-word when referring to Black people. He didn't use it just once, but multiple times in consecutive messages, even adding "lol" to one of them. As an African American man who had welcomed this technician onto my property and treated him with nothing but respect, I was absolutely shocked and offended. Based on the messages, it appears Jeff accidentally sent them to me instead of whoever he intended to communicate with. When I confronted him about the messages, he apologized, claimed he didn't know how it happened, and even suggested that his phone may have been hacked. He also stated that he wasn't prejudiced and that those messages didn't reflect what was in his heart. Unfortunately, his explanation does not change what I received or how deeply offensive those messages were. What makes this situation even more disturbing is that I had previously trusted this individual enough to allow him to perform work at my property on two separate occasions. Never would I have imagined receiving such hateful language from someone I had hired and treated professionally. I believe customers deserve to know about experiences like this, especially when deciding whom to trust to come onto their property. I will NEVER use Lake Area Safe & Lock LLC again, and I cannot recommend this company based on my experience with its technician. I hope management takes this matter seriously because no customer, regardless of race, should ever have to experience something like this. I have screenshots of the entire text message exchange to support everything I have stated in this review. Good workmanship means very little when a customer is left questioning the character and professionalism of the person they allowed onto their property.

I was visiting my parents just outside of Silsbee, Texas, and we needed to get a new key/fob combo…read morefor her vehicle. The dealership wanted over $200 and said it would take an hour, longer if there were problems. We contacted another potential resource that was more reasonable than the dealer, but did not have what we needed in stock and estimated it could take as much as 10 business days to get the part. We reached out to Bruce's Locksmith, and Bruce himself gave us an estimate that was extremely reasonable, especially for mobile service at my parents' home (a real plus for a host of reasons). He estimated it may take a couple of business days for the part to arrive but that he could take care of it for us once it arrived. The next day, he called and had the part, and within an hour was at my parents' cutting the key and programming the fob, which he completed in about half an hour. He and his wife were very friendly, and you just can't beat the fantastic service!
