We recently bought a new front door for our home, and a very nice (but complicated) lock set to go…read morewith it. Unfortunately, the contractor who installed it was incompetent and damaged the lock. I was able to order replacement parts, but the contractor still could not get the lock working right. We reached the point where we did not trust the contractor to keep trying, worried that he would damage the door. I called Lake Area Safe & Lock Tuesday mid-afternoon, expecting to wait a few days for the actual service call. They called Wednesday, and Jeff showed up by mid-morning. Jeff obviously knew what he was doing. He was able to immediately troubleshoot the problem and get the lock working in short order. The charge for the service was very reasonable. Jeff was very personable, and a credit to the company. Definitely a Five-Star job all around!

During the construction phase concerns were brought up regarding pad height not matching pre-existing driveway as requested. Since I pulled the permit, they refuse to go back and fix the building/pad as "I am the contractor". Malletts inspector offered to make an easy fix (build a ramp and cement pour time) if I paid him and his concrete crew $1500 on the side. Still waiting for doors to be installed to complete this project. Would not recommend this company. Most positive reviews are due to a discount Mallett offers at contract time. EDIT: Follow up, doors have been delayed due to their employees being picked up by ICE.

They charged me a service call and to replace freon that they said was low. Everything was fine, for 30 days. After 30 days the unit started not cooling again. I once again called the other 'trusted" company. They again charged me a service call and to refill the freon. 30 days latter you guess it the unit didn't work. THIS TIME I DID NOT CALL THE OTHER PLACE. I CALLED S&S HVAC & PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. They came out quickly and looked at the unit and informed me immediately that there was a VISIBLE LEAK THAT THEY REPAIRED. This company did the job that should have been done in May. They DID NOT try to bilk me out of more money for service calls. The fixed the leak quickly. They were professional and courteous. They are not the big well know company that most people think of for HVAC but they are a GREAT COMPANY that I will call again if I ever need them. They assured me that I wouldn't need them though. If you need service, call S&S HVAC.
