Once my daughter got too squirmy for tri fold diapers, I regretfully canceled our excellent diaper service (Tiny Tots in the SF Bay Area is great!) and started looking around for info on making the transition to cloth diapering ourselves. It was a pretty daunting task! I somehow stumbled onto Jillian's Drawers, where I not only found a great inventory of diapers and related items, but thorough instructions on how to care for the diapers.Then, I discovered the try it for $10 plan! They send you an assortment of differing diapers and covers, samples of detergents and instructions for caring for the diapers. At the end of the trial period (a month I think) you keep the diapers you want (at 20% off) and send back the rest for a full credit (minus shipping and the $10 fee). So, I had the opportunity to test drive a bunch of styles and discover what works best for our child's shape and our lifestyle. Thanks to this plan, the great care instructions and the wonderful customer service anytime we've had a question, cloth diapering has been so much easier than I thought it would be, even without a service. The diapers we bought were such great quality that a year and half later we are still using the same set of diapers, and will not need to purchase more before our daughter is potty trained. How is it possible that I'm only the third person to review this business? I was introduced to Jillian's Drawers by a friend out of Chicago - Jillian's Drawer's has a wide geographic presence due to their internet store. They have an EXCELLENT program to encourage mommies to try out cloth diapering. For a reasonable price you can try several different brands of cloth diapers for 30 days. You return them before the end of the period and receive a full refund - paying only for shipping. I wanted to try cloth diapering out with my little cutie. There are obvious benefits - no diapers going into land fills, softer materials on their bottoms, fewer chemicals leeching onto their skin, quicker potty training, and they come in adorable fabrics. I wasn't sure however that I'd be able to do the laundering myself, and i'd heard that sometimes it's hard to get a good fit for boys. So, in steps Jillian's Drawers so I can test the experience out without having to commit major funds. Awesome! First tip - I'd wait until your little one has a few pounds on them to start cloth diapering. Yes, I know they make premie and newborn sizes. But your kiddo is going to be needing 12+ changes a day - that's a ton of laundry, and you'll be too tired to do it all. Just suck it up an do disposables for the first several weeks. Perhaps a more practical reason is that the shape of your little ones body is going to change significantly during those first few weeks. Your skinny mini might end up having thunder thighs - and the diapers that fit perfectly might not be so perfect after the first few pounds are added. Second tip - you only have 30 days from when the diapers are SHIPPED, not RECEIVED to return them. I missed the return window by one day, but still received a full refund. In the end, our favorite diapers ended up being the Thirstie Duo and the Fuzzi Buns. I thought we'd like Bum Genius the best, but it was one of our least favorite - it's bulkier than these other ones. So I was glad that I was able to try them out before spending several hundred dollars on diapers. We purchased several gently used diapers from Jillian's Drawers after the end of our trial period. The used diapers arrived in excellent condition - they probably even looked better than the diapers we'd returned. I felt good about the price I paid, and I feel great each time I use them. We only have 15 pairs. Yes, I know they say you need 20+. But we do disposables at night and when we're away from the house (I know, the horrors). I end up doing wash every other day. read more

We attended the free cloth diaper class a couple months ago in preparation for the arrival of our baby. It was very informative and I definitely recommend checking it out if you are thinking about cloth diapering! There are many other classes too. I plan on attending the breast feeding support class after our baby arrives. We live out of town, but stop at Jillian's every time we are in Ithaca. The store is big and they sell a lot of great brands that you can't find in the Binghamton area. The staff is very friendly and always answers my questions. I called the store in a panic earlier this week. The diaper company I had originally arranged a newborn diaper rental with was unreliable and was over a week delayed in their shipment, with no indication about when their shipment would arrive. With a week to go before my scheduled c-section, we feared that we would have to wait to cloth diaper our baby girl. Jillian's Drawers to the rescue! Although the website indicated that the newborn diaper rental at Jillian's would take 6 weeks to ship, the kind clerk put together a package for me that day, and I received the diapers all the way in CA two days later! They even sent very helpful (pre-wash) laundering instructions for the **brand-new** diapers. Thanks to them, we can start cloth diapering right away! And with the deposit refunded toward store credit, it'll end up being cheaper than the original rental, which is even better! read more

Their new space on the commons is open and wow! It's big! There's lots more stuff and several areas for kids to play. There is a room in the back that I guess they'll be using as a community room for classes and such, but it has a small slide that my 2 year old will be excited about. read more

Wonderful customer service, staff, and local support for moms and dads. I will often research what to get separately online, only to change my mind and get what the Jillian's staff has thoughtfully selected to sell instead. Not to be overlooked are their baby toys and food containers all selected without BPAs. As a bonus, since they are local, I can get my Charlie's soap for cheap in bulk. While I've spent plenty of $ there, I find they are priced the same or less than competitors and have slowly moved my household over to almost all reusable products! Love this place! I wish that we had one in Rochester. There are so many neat treasures in ever nook and cranny. My children loved planning in the play area while I explored. Jillian's diapers is the "go to" website to get all your cloth diapering needs! I am so impressed with their customer service as well. I also love that you can return used items for FULL store credit within 30 days. I didn't quiet believe it at first but it's true! I accidentally ordered the wrong item online (another time) and called their store to re-order over the phone. When I called they were so helpful. She even called me back when they didn't have the cloth diaper colors I requested to tell me within less than five mins, so I could change my colors. I also love that they have customer reviews on their site for most their items. Another thing I love as well is they send out cloth diapering basics with every purchase and they ship same day. I ordered a trial of cloth diapers from them two months ago and they still have not shipped them. They website said that they would ship within 10 days when I placed my order (they have now changed it to 21 days). I have called at least 10 times trying to get some kind of update but they have only answered the phone on two of the calls. I was told with the first update that my order was out of stock but would ship in 2 days, after over a week with no update I called again and was told it would ship as soon as they had the stock. It has now been over a month since that call and still no shipment or update (and they still don't pick up the phone). Also in the order confirmation email it said I would receive an email and a phone call if any of my items were out of stock, but I did not get either, only found out after finally getting someone to pick up the phone. There products may be good, but there customer service on Internet orders is lacking! read more
