I used movers to move my things (El Cheapo, who were familiar with the storage unit and also great to deal with), and had NO issues moving in or out. I was able to get deal for my first month, and they were able to pro-rate the second month, as I was not there for the full period. I hope to not have to put my things into storage again, but should I have to I would definitely be back to Public Storage on Jefferson. ** During this experience I also met a person with my EXACT first and last name. Same nickname, same spelling, and born one day apart. An added COOL factor to this experience :)

Short version --------------- Pros - Excellent pricing compared to EVERYWHERE in Oakville & Mississauga. - It's clean. - Quite a bit of surveillance (A good thing) so awesome security. - Heated loading/unloading bay. - Friendly Staff. - Carts for lugging your stuff around. - Always 1 elevator not on service, so people can't hog both elevators. It will return to ground - This is a big one. ONLINE BILLING!! I can't express how much I love this! Cons - Only 3 loading bays - No lights inside the units Long version ---------------- I am a two time returning customer. The first time around I noticed how clean the facility was and of course being a new building was a bonus. Andrea since day 1 opening our account has been very accommodating. I left the first time for access to a facility closer to home. Though it was a drive up unit, there was far less security/surveillance and if you're anything like me, a lack of a sense of security really affects how you sleep at night with your belongings in a storage unit. As of December 2017 after being at the unit closer to home literally walking distance to my door I decided to move back to Smart Stop Oakville. Maybe it's the sense of security, but this location feels far more secure to store my stuff. As I treat this as an extension of my home like a garage, that is a incredibly important for me to trust as I have trust issues. Realistically speaking my only 2 complaints with this location is that it only has 3 loading bays and no light in my unit, but the no light is more a frustration than a complaint after getting used to a light in my drive up unit. Friendly staff, realistic pricing that isn't trying to gouge customers and carts usually always available when moving stuff in or out. I am sadly someone who has expierence with almost every location in Oakville and Mississauga. I could list pros and cons at just about every location, but this location is the first in a very long time that I honestly don't worry as much about my unit. I'd highly recommend this storage facility if you're looking for somewhere to trust to store your belongings. I'll update my review every year with my thoughts and suggestions since I'm usually long term with any place I'm comfortable staying with.

Originally picked XYZ because of their customer service, even though they were more expensive, and the staff seemed to understand after hours access was necessary for people who worked for a living, and were renovating their house so thus needed to move things in and out of the locker on a daily basis. They were fine granting it in 2 week blocks. Then something changed internally and we were forced to call the facility every day, during the day, to get access that night, even though everyone is issued a unique access code. That was annoying enough, but boy was I wrong. Today, the day I was moving a large set of furniture to the locker, the staff forgot to grant the after-hours access even though I talked to them in person! (Their system is to write it on a post-it note and do it whenever they feel like it). Of course I also only find out at 7:05PM right after the office closes and no one picks up the phone. I now have to pay an extra $200 to keep the moving truck another day and park it in a random outdoor parking lot, unsupervised. In that one failure, the storage locker has now costed us almost the cost of the locker itself. I met a couple my first day at 7:10PM who was in a similar situation where they had driven down from Barrie only to find after hours access hadn't been given to them and there was no one they could call to get access. I should have taken that as a sign and cancelled my locker right then and there. I honestly would have been fine to pay an extra $10-$20 extra for blanket after-hours access, but instead their senior leadership choose to annoy their customers for no reason.

Public Storage is obviously a place for you to store your stuff between home moves, relocations, or…read moresimple overcrowding. Let me help you navigate this: 1. As soon as you know you will need this location, contact them about rental rates, available units, etc. If you can, plan a separate trip to see a unit and getting any info on special promotions before committing your money. They may tell you there is only one ground floor unit left or something similar to make you rush into making a payment. If you take a day to think about it or compare other places, you should be fine. 2. They do have no contract options where you can leave at most any time. This does require a couple of weeks notice generally. They can tell you when you commit. 3. They have units located on higher floors. If you have large or heavy items, you will want to have a ground floor unit. 4. The staff are helpful, yet can get testy very quickly if questioned too directly about anything. This is obviously a business like used car sales where the flow of connivery is a two way street. Everyone wants a discount or has a complaint on one side, while the experience with and defences against those things are always high on the other. 5. There is a personalized code access to a gate that you can access until 10:30 each night. The office itself closes around 5:30 or so. 6. You can provide your own lock or they have a cheap one they will sell you. They also sell boxes, tape, moving blankets, etc. 7. In my experience of moving items both early in the morning and late at night, I encountered people who appeared to live here. Not sure if they rented units or just used the long empty corridors. They never bothered me, yet it seemed obvious that they were using the units/property for more than storing their junk. The place is not all that well-lit after dark outside, yet the timer-activated corridor lights are bright. You may be best served to have someone else with you. 8. The process of signing contracts and accessing a unit is fairly straightforward. You can get that done in under a half-hour if need be.

Tips: - This store is a donation drop-off location for The…read morePeriod Purse. - You can rent a mailbox and store your wine collection here. - If you have a storage unit, you can drive your vehicle into the loading area that is enclosed and available 24 hours every day. This review is a bit different. I came here to make a donation to The Period Purse. This DYMON is a drop-off for this charity that is dedicated to menstrual equity. It provides free period products from community partners and donations. It also has education programs across Canada. I was at Sansotei Ramen and used a single stall washroom before I headed to shop at Square One. I noticed free sanitary pads and tampons for periods in the washroom. I thought that it was a thoughtful gesture. We have food banks to support those who are having a tough time with groceries, especially as their prices continue to increase. What about folks who can't afford to get period products? I have been fortunate that I have not struggled in this area, but there are folks that have who could use a break. I did a search and found The Period Purse. Perfect! You have the option to donate to this charity. You get a tax receipt if your donation is at least $25. You can also donate period products. I like that it accepts open boxes of disposable pads and tampons, as well as new, unopened reusable products. After work a couple of Wednesdays ago, I drove over to DYMON. I was heading eastbound along The Queensway. DYMON is on the left, but it's an interesting setup to make a left turn. I basically had to pass by DYMON because there's a barricade as you go up the overpass and down it. I made a u-turn at Kipling Avenue and then turned right onto Vansco Road. There's a RUDY burger joint before you turn right, which is across from DYMON. There's an IKEA across The Queensway from both DYMON and RUDY. In other words, YOU HAVE STORES THAT USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IN THEIR NAMES IN THIS AREA. How coincidental is that commonality? I found a parking spot in front of the main doors. I backed into a spot and headed over there. I was a bit shocked to find that DYMON has kitchen and storage accessories. I felt like I was in a Winners store, but a fancier version of it. I was definitely not in a U-Haul store. The floors were shiny and spotless. It was bright and inviting. It was clean. I saw a few sales. It was cool. I was heading over to Guest Services when a female staffer was flagging me by saying hi behind me. She asked if I needed any help. I said that I was dropping off a donation for The Period Purse. She nodded and said that I'd be hitting Guest Services ahead and to my right. She frankly startled me. I was heading in the right direction. I will say that she was trying to be helpful, but I felt like she was chasing me down as I was walking. I ended up in a spacious area. There was a FedEx vehicle that pulled into this area. There were a handful of vehicles. If you have a storage unit, you can drive into this area to load and unload your stuff. I saw dollies to help out. I also saw mailboxes that you can rent. All services in this area are 24 hours. I like that you don't have to deal with weather if you are moving your goods in and out of your storage area. You drive into this area that keeps you and your vehicle dry and safe. I also saw a wine cellar area. You can house your wine here. It apparently has a bunch of controls, from humidity to lighting, to ensure that you wine collection is in pristine condition. It was a fascinating visit! I learned so much dropping off a donation to a cause that had nothing to do with storage or moving. At Guest Services, a nice man said hi and asked if I had a donation in my paper bag with handles. I did. He happily took it from me. I was pleased that I did my part. I don't have the need to rent a storage unit. It was nice to see a more modern approach here. I last visited a U-Haul store in Winnipeg eons ago when I moved from Rochester, MN to the city. That store was never as nice and appealing as this DYMON. (149)
