Mark, the Service Manager, was friendly and helpful--he confirmed my appointment and assured me the tires would arrive in plenty of time. So far, so good! When I arrived, the shop was buzzing with customers--walk-ins with flats, scheduled appointments, and phones ringing nonstop. Still, Mark and his teammate were cool under pressure, hustling to help everyone and keeping the place running smoothly. I settled into the waiting area, got some work done, and barely had time to finish a few emails before, an hour later, my tires were done! First off, if you go there for car repair or tire repair and need a ride they will call you a Lyft to take you where you need to go, and to pick you up and Pep boys covers the cost!! I was asked if I wanted an alignment, but I discussed with the service lady that tires comes with a free 'inspection/balance check', so I went with 'tell me if I need one'. After waiting twice as long as as I was told it would take, they said I was all good to go. Two weeks ago, I discovered the inside of my front tires were worn bald, like scary to drive bald. I made an appointment for this last Saturday at 1, expecting them to fix the mistake. Right away on the phone, the guy tells me it is a suspension problem, but my truck just had its whole front end redone, and was inspected 3 days after I bought the new tires. I drop my truck off at my appointment time of 1pm on Saturday, 4/25, and I was told it would take a couple of hours. At 5:20 I call to check on my truck and was told I had no alignment at all so I need to pay for 2 new tires and an alignment, THAT WAS THERE JOB TO DO IN NOVEMBER! And then they told me my truck was next to get on the rack. It should be ready in an hour. So it has been there for 4 hours and 20 minutes, has yet to be looked at, but they 'know' what is wrong and quoted me $305 to fix their issues. I was told at 5:20, it would be ready in an hour. I get to cooking dinner and we eat, constantly next to my phone waiting for a call, nothing. It is now 7:30, and we just drive down to see what is going on, the shop is CLOSED, locked up with my truck INSIDE. No call, no heads up, it has been there since 1, and now I don't have it all night. I am absolutely furious!!! On Sunday morning I wait an hour after the shop opens, and call and ask about my truck. I was told they are working on it now, it should be another half an hour. I pick it up at 11. 22 hours after I dropped it off and $273, (they gave me a 10% discount on service fees) for two new tires and an alignment which I already bought 5 months ago and none of this should have happened. I was charged $550 for the installation of a $75 part at AutoZone, and they performed additional labor on my car that I informed them to only do if the check engine light remained on - which I am certain it did not, but they performed and charged me for the labor anyways. I asked my primary mechanic to take a look at it after my check engine light came on again just last week for the same issue and he said they did a poor job replacing and installing it and the job shouldn't have costed more than $150. For some reason, I decided to go back a few months after I got maintenance from them to get a quote for a state-mandated inspection at Hampden Automotive, and they ended up quoting me $2,000 and charging me nearly $60 simply for the quote. I was absolutely shocked at the quote and took it to my primary mechanic, who charged me $600 for the exact same repairs that Hampden Automotive told me were needed. Long story short: if you go here, expect to pay 4 times the market rate and to get poor assistance with your repairs.
