Since I've had my car that seems to continually ail from something, every time there's a squeak, thump, or jolt, a little dread sets in right at the pit of my stomach. "Car related" things have become like pulling teeth for me, so when I knew I was overdue for an oil change, I just had to grit my teeth and bear it. I took the ol' girl to Jiffy Lube and I'll tell ya, I was pleasantly surprised. Like ripping off a band-aid, my trip in there was relatively painless. It was deserted when I pulled up at 12:30pm on a Thursday. A friendly guy (a manager-type, I'm guessing, by the polo shirt as opposed to the jumpsuits of everyone else) came up and took 'er in. In the end, it turned out I needed another fluid changed pretty badly so my total bill was more than expected but that wasn't their problem. And, I'll tell ya, that job was done *lightning* fast. I barely read 3 pages in my book before they called me. As I walked out I said to the guy, "Wow...that was incredibly fast." To which he replied, "Well...we *are* called 'Jiffy Lube." It could've been a commercial. If my engine drops out because of this visit I'll let you know, but I think we'll be all good. Proceed to Jiffy Lube. They're quick. read more

You cant beat a 10 minute oil change, especially when your pride and joy takes only Mobil 1 full synthetic and every place in town wants to sell you on the low-grade dino oil or a different brand. Whats even better is they didn't question me when I asked for my specific oil weight. Other places try to sell me on different weights as if I don't know my car. No, give me 5w-30, Mobil 1 and I will be happy. The wait area is adequate, since they are so fast. Otherwise sit outside if its a nice day. Only downside? $78 bucks is alot to pay for synthetic and a filter! I used to do it myself when I had a garage, and it only cost me $35 in oil/filter and 30-min in my driveway. I love this place. I have been in there twice with random problems and each time they have fixed it with no charge. I've had both ends of the spectrum as far as service, but since yesterday's was the worst of the two, I'll start there. I brought in my car for a follow up after the previous week's repairs. No greetings or " how can I help", just glares. Waited in the office for assistance and after 5min or so gave my keys up after explaining why I brought it in. Then for 45min I was not spoken to and the crew did their best to avoid eye contact as several people were helped and services explained while I waited. The week earlier the staff were professional and courteous, with all repairs and diagnostics explained. The repairs were not cheap but I felt confident they were necessary and that my car was in good hands. And the work was completed the same day, much faster than anticipated. I have an equal amount of updates and replacements to do but have decided on taking it to a dealer's shop, as the last encounter was disappointing. read more

Really great customer service and very honest! I went in for an oil change because it had been more than 6 months since my last one, but the mechanic showed me that the oil was still clear (I don't drive much) and said to come back in August or when I hit the milage on the sticker, whichever comes first. I really appreciated that they didn't do anything unnecessary or try to sell me services my vehicle didn't need. Definitely going back when my oil needs changed for real! read more

I would go back there again. We had problems with the alternator, they replaced it, had to take it back two more times and still wasn't fixed, fortunately I was able to take it to my mechanic on the third time and he said it was a tricky problem to solve. I do feel like they could have figured out, or would have sent it on to the auto shop they work with. They also paid for towing were required. We have since been back for an oil change. read more

The work is solid and the team friendly, but do NOT count on the time estimate. I was told my brakes would take "between 3 and 4 hours". In the end, the repair took 5.5 hours and I missed my son's bus pickup. If you go here, just assume it will take twice as long as they say and you'll be fine. read more

No more taking my car here. Came in for a oil change and about six men were standing in the pit. From the moment I pulled up there was not one welcoming personality in the pit. I dreaded being there immediately and wanted to turn around. Not one person greeted me and the guy who came to get my keys sounded like he was giving me orders..."give me your key fob", "Go take a seat". I then had to just walk up and speak to the person on the computer looking up my car specs about different oil options because no one was engaging in any communication with me as a customer while I was obviously standing there in the pit for a reason and not in the waiting area and after I said why I was when asked! During payment I inquired about a groupon deal for jiffy lube and was told they don't honor them because each one is independently owned and customers tried to take advantage of using them more than once. This included body language of shaking head to mean "absolutely not". They don't even have the program or equipment any longer to honor them since 5 years ago. Really? It. Is. A. Groupon. Not solving world hunger. Annoyed and ready to go and to not get into an argument, I forgot to have them then honor my $10 off online coupon from Jiffy which I always use and I know is on my purchases history but I he could of also mentioned it. They can have the funky $10 and poor customer service and I'll gladly go out of my way to another business to avoid this one which is close to home but makes me uncomfortable. I always take my Jeep Liberty to a different Jiffy Lube, but I thought I would try this one out as it was closer to my apartment. Everything seemed fine. They did the regular routine telling me what needed to be changed or filled, etc. I paid my money and left. That's when I noticed all the small problems. First, when I pulled into the garage I had left all four of my windows half way down. Instead of rolling them up they just washed the half that were exposed. Not that big of a deal, but if you pay for a service you should get it. Secondly, I knew the air in my passenger side tires were low and I specifically asked the young lady at the counter if they would check the air and she said yes. I later found out they filled the drivers side tires, but not the passenger side. Finally, I looked at the reminder sticker to see what the mileage would be when I had to get another oil change and the sticker they put on my window was for another vehicle. Again, these were all minor problems, but it's part of the "signature service" that they charge you extra for. I'll never go to that Jiffy Lube again. I'll stick to the North Avenue location by my office which is a five star store. read more

This has become my go-to oil change place in the last year or so. They're always very attentive, never pushy trying to sell me services I don't need, do a great job, and get me out of there quickly even when they're busy. Last night I took my car in for a high mileage oil change and discussed with the guys working on it an issue I had been having with the latch on my hood. Not only did two guys spend over 30 minutes looking at it and repairing it for me, but they didn't charge me for their time or effort on a problem that they had no obligation whatsoever to fix. If I can give this place a zero star I would. Jiffy Lube: 5601 N. Ashland Ave. Took my car here for an oil changed. Drove home and park d my car. Got to my car an hour later and realized a huge pot of oil on the ground. I called them and told them what happened. They told me probably I hit a pothole or speed bump or something. The guy on the phone was extremely rude. He said, I have pay for a refill if I need to fill more oil. What? I just got a oil changed hours ago. The truth was the cap wasn't tight enough. I've been in the fence about Jiffy Lube, due to some bad experiences at the Clybourn location. I tried my luck at this spot, and I had a much better experience. 1) Polite staff. From his greeting to handling the transaction, Justin is fantastic. While I was being led to the waiting area, Justin said hello with a big smile. He also talked me through the recommended services in a thorough and courteous manner, and answered all my questions. He was not overly-pushy about adding on other services. They also have a handy, visual checklist that they use to inspect every vehicle. Whether something needs to be fixed, or is operating normally, they mark it on that sheet. 2) Speed. I was there on a Saturday morning around 10:00, and while there were 4 other cars being worked on ahead of me, I was still in and out in under 30 mins. 3) Condition of my car. They vacuum and clean the windows of all cars. Always appreciate when she (my car) can get a mini spa day, too. Only knock is the pricing; they're still on the high-end when it comes to costs of oil changes, and when services are added on (I had a filter change and some fluids topped off in addition to the oil change) it adds up quickly. I paid over $80. I get a much better price going to my mom and pop mechanic. If I need an oil change in a hurry, I will definitely be back here; great customer service experience, and nice thorough work on my car. read more

My husband had gone to this Jiffy Lube for all his oil changes. Recently, he had his brakes checked (they had been acting iffy) and the mechanic told him that a large part of his problem was contaminated brake fluid. He showed him that all the plastic components of his brakes were swollen and misshapen--and said that this was most likely due to criminally sloppy and incompetent oil changes. That this was the case can't be proved absolutely--but it seems in line with many other Yelp comments here. We had to have everything replaced--which was far from cheap--and I was very aware that the situation could have been dangerous. Needless to say--my husband won't be going to this Jiffy Lube again. I just got my oil changed here a couple of minutes ago. When I came up to the Jiffy Lube I got a weird vibe from the guys hanging around the outside. I guess they were experiencing a lull in the business. At no time did I feel like this guy was trying to be useful to me. I felt like he was trying to sell me stuff. I'm determined to go to my regular place from now on... A coupon lured me in there, but I won't ever go back. I ended up spending much more on an oil change and a top off on my anti-freeze ($8). They went in my glove compartment... And stole some things out of the armrest in my car, is what I just noticed. I noticed things on my floor when I left there and I didn't know what to make of it, but now I do. They have thieves working there. If I could give them minus stars if i could. read more

I came in a few months ago for an oil change. A few days later my car still smelled like oil and started burning. I called and they told me to bring it in. Turns out they didn't put the cap on all the way and oil was spilling all over my engine. They cleaned it up but didn't top off the oil so I had to come back earlier than expected. They had given me a free oil change and told me since I would need the high mileage oil the next time that would still be free. Well, they went back on their word and it was not entirely free. It was my first time in Jiffy Lube. I went to have my car engine oil change. The mechanic who took care of me was polite at first and he told me it will take abount an hour to have everything done. After waiting for around 1 hr 20 mins he came with the bill and asked me to pay for it. I did paid for the service and while i went to my car i realized that, there was oil leakage from the bottom of my car. Suddenly, i went to them and complained about the problem, but the mechanic was so rude and took almost half hour to look at it. He said i have to wait for an hour more. Seriously?? They ended up making me wait for 2 hours and 45mins for oil change. Very disrespectful and mannerless mechanics. I will never go to Jiffy Lube and i wont recommend anyone to go to Jiffy Lube. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. On December 16, 2016, one of our headlights went out in our Honda Fit. We were going to be traveling for Christmas and needed an oil change too so it seemed convenient to stop at this Jiffy Lube. While there, they recommended replacing the battery too. So as not to get stranded somewhere in Ohio, we decided to do so. Yesterday, less than a month after having the battery replaced, the car died. We had it towed to our regular mechanic who advised that the battery was bad. The wonderful folks at Speedline put in a new battery right away and the faulty one was returned to Jiffy Lube immediately. They tried to insist that there might be something wrong with the car to have caused the battery to go bad (there's not) and said we should have had it towed to them. (No way.) They agreed to reimburse us for the battery but refused to reimburse us the $20+ in Lyft charges we accrued because of the dead battery. These people are scam artists. Avoid at all costs! I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

This establishment use to be great! Yesterday I received terrible customer service from an associate named Adam. He was very rude when I asked him about a discount I am supposed to receive as a ride share driver. He also had troubles processing my payment because their computer system was down. He eventually was able to get the system somewhat working and told me that everything was all good. I verified that my money was debited from my account and left. After leaving I noticed that the paperwork I was given had no receipt attached to it. I went back to get my receipt and he says that he needs to run my credit card again because the payment did not process. I had to literally show him on my phone that my money was taken out of my account. He then creates a receipt showing that I paid for it with a gift card! For tax purposes I need a receipt showing that I paid cash. I did not feel like arguing with Adam. After going to this place for years, I will take the loss and will never go to this establishment again! read more

Go there for the oil change only. They may try to sell you other services (i.e., radiator flush, etc) but try to just "say no" and if they say you need other services, take your car to your regular mechanic to see if you really need that service. They are quick. Watch for coupons available on their website or via mailings sent to homes, that usually provide $5 to $7 off an oil change. (For a cheaper oil change, try Car X or Midas, which may be less expensive, but call and compare first. ) Avoid the busy times (i.e., middle of the day on Saturdays) and try to go early in the morning for the quickest service. And, if your service is supposed to include something that they haven't done, call them on it. They are not as thorough and professional as they have been in previous years. I am unsure if management or staff changed or what. read more

I'm an uber driver, and we are required to get a vehicle inspection once a year. This location is an approved inspection site, so yesterday I pulled in to get inspected. The guy is really weird about it, starts asking me what the mileage is on the car (which they have to check for during the inspection, not sure why they would need to know that BEFORE), starts asking someone else if they can do the inspection, then he says "fine" and takes my keys. Two minutes later they call me back over, there's like three guys around my car and they said they won't inspect it because I have a small dent in the front of my car (who doesn't in Chicago?) And that a second "crash" would not keep the vehicle safe. WTF. I have no idea why they were making such a big deal about it. The bays weren't full, no line, and the inspections aren't free. They take five.minutes and it's $20. Sounds like easy money. Took the car to the jiffy lube on Western in Rogers park today. Said car was completely fine. It's like five minutes from this one, save yourself the drama and go a few blocks north and a few blocks west. Thanks for trying to keep me out of work, guys! read more

I had my brakes replaced at this location in Oct. 2015 and just 9 months later I start to hear a noise that I thought might be my brakes. I went back to this location and I didn't even see them raise the car p to look. The guy drove it and heard the noise and said definitively that it wasn't the brakes but might be transmission or suspension issues. Then went on to tell me to go to a repair shop to have it looked at. I went to my regular shop (Ashland Tire & Auto) and yup....it was the brakes! I need my car for work and had no time to waste going back to those folks at Jiffy Lube so I had to get new brakes again. I should have never trusted brakes to Jiffy Lube but for them to just send me off and ignore any warranty and for me to drop another $300 in less than a year is theft on their part! I am still waiting on someone to contact me back about some sort of restitution and apology. Avoid them at all costs. ***UPDATE*** Spoke with the manager Mark who refused to help even though he told me to see another shop about it. My brakes were under warranty and he sent me off without looking at my car and now states it's my problem because my going to another shop voids the warranty! These people are the SCUM OF THE EARTH! I went in for an oil change and left with a flat tire and a missing air valve. The guy told me the air valve was broken (the sensor on it has been for years, so I thought that's what he was talking about). I just filled up my tires the other day and thought the back tire looked a low. I got about a block away before I realized it was completely flat! And they let me drive away on it!!!! My tires were fine when I got there. When I called the guy basically told me it's my fault and said the only thing he could do was allow me to pay even more money and get a new tire. I stopped by the nearest gas station to fill the tire up and that's when I noticed the entire air valve is MISSING!!! It was there when I arrived. These people are crooks and should be thrown in jail. read more

I've gone to the Jiffy Lube multiple times for oil changes and never experienced a problem. But after today I'm never going again. Last week I was I went in for a free brake inspection just to check them out. I had gotten all new brakes December of 2013 so I just wanted a status report. I was told that I needed all new back brake pads and rotors, which doesn't even make sense because the front brakes usually wear out first anyway. Luckily I took it someplace else I absolutely trust (but farther away) for a second opinion and was told that my brakes are completely fine. I almost paid $370 for nothing. I feel totally cheated and want to tell everyone to never use their services because they are liars. Totally unprofessional, unacceptable, and seems like they are trying to take advantage of my "ignorance" with cars. I should have asked how much a simple oil change would be before I gave them the keys to my car at this Jiffy Lube. But I've gone to Jiffy Lube's for years, including the one on Western Avenue just south of Touhy, and one in Madison, WI. Those two Lube's both charged me around $40 for an oil change. This one charged me $88.98! I couldn't believe it! When I asked why it cost so much, I was informed by the grumpy woman behind the desk that all Jiffy Lube's are privately owned so they can charge whatever they like. But seriously? More than double what the Jiffy Lube up the street costs? I am going to tell everyone I know about this scam. I just moved into the neighborhood, and this could have been my new spot to go for oil changes. They may have gotten an extra forty bucks from me, but they have lost a customer for life. Attention, kindergarteners: Today we're going to learn not to touch each other's stuff, even when it's clearly meant for you. I'm torn between two and three stars. If I could rate Justin alone, this place would get five stars. He is so friendly, and when recommending services my car needs, he is never pushy or judgmental. Justin, sir, you rock. However, if I could rate the lady who sits at the desk and refers to herself as management, it would be one star. I took my car in for an oil change, and turned down the volume on the TV in the waiting room, which is clearly for customers, as they are the only ones who can see it. The lady, who was in the bay area when I touched her TV (AND when I first pulled in, mind you, so she clearly was not actively LISTENING to what was on the tv), promptly, and passive-aggressively, posted a sign instructing customers not to touch the TV. Really? HOW RUDE. She couldn't wait the fifteen minutes until I was gone to just turn it back up to watch her soap opera? Oh, wait, not watch, because she can't see it from where she sits. Hear. I paid extra for that with the oil change. I asked about the condition of the brakes but couldn't get an answer. When I confronted them they da I d I have to come back for that. Great! I've been to several jiffy lubes, but this was by the far the fastest. Car seems to be doing fine so I assume that means they did a quality job as well. There's no reason to go to this Jiffy Lube. I was willing to write it off as an employee having a bad day when I went and they broke the handle off of my dipstick and did not even bother to tell me, leaving me to find it the next time I opened the hood. But then my boyfriend went, and they kindly offered to replace the windshield wipers, took the old ones off... and forgot to put the new ones on. He took his car back there and they apologized and put the new ones on... but omitted the clips that hold the blades on. Previous reviews about them blowing off vacuuming are also accurate. It seems like they don't care about cars or customers that much. With as much competition as there is, there's just no reason to give these people my money. read more

I went to this Jiffy Lube because it was close by and I wanted to do a couple things in Andersonville while I was out with the car. They totally overcharged me for an oil change ($65 total for oil and antifreeze). They also "checked" my headlights (one of which I knew was out at the time) and brake fluid (which was below the fill line at the time) and said that there was nothing wrong. Basically, don't go to this Jiffy Lube if you don't want to get ripped off. read more

My husband decided they needed a second chance. (Much to my dismay) Took our vehicle in for an oil change on Friday. I'll mention that they did NOT fill the fluids and I was out of radiator fluid the last time. This time they told my husband that an engine flush was needed along with another service (totally $279). Both of those services were done within the last 4 months and did not need to be done again. They put the wrong amount of air in the tires. They were 6 points off on each tire. Needless to say, I ended up with a flat on Monday. They should have caught it on Friday. The tire shop I went to said they should have noticed it was low. There weren't any holes or leaks in the tire when the tire shop checked. It was due to the low tire pressure. NEVER AGAIN will we use them. They charge for items that don't need to be done...they don't fill the fluids, and the air pressure in the tires was not correct. NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more

This is honestly the worst Jiffy Lube I've ever gone to. I've had multiple bad experiences there. I want to like them because they are so close to my house. But they just make it so hard. My most recent issue is that they just forgot to mention I had absolutely no coolant in my car. They did try to push the $100+ coolant flush on me but didn't mention the $7.99 coolant fill up that I obviously needed. And than when I just called to mention this to them, the woman on the phone had an attitude with me. She's probably the same one that had an attitude with me when I was there as well. She tried to tell me that it was obviously something wrong with my car. I've since put more coolant in and there is no leak or issue. They are just lazy. She didn't bother to take my name and just said she would mention it to the manager. Well, I'll be mentioning it to corporate as well. These people are unprofessional and sloppy. They pay no attention to detail (example: they forgot the sticker in my window. A small thing but something they are supposed to do!) It is definitely worth going a little further away to get better service. read more

I had a very negative experience here having my oil changed. Below are the conversations I had with an employee and then the manager: I tell the employee what kind of car I have and then: Me: How much is it to have the oil changed in my car? Employee: $75. Me: OK. They change the oil and then charge me $104. Me: $104? You said it was $75. Employee: Well, your car requires 8.5 quarts. $75 is the price for 5 quarts which is the "base price". I later speak to the manager and explain that I was quoted $75, then charged $104. Manager: Well, $75 is the "base price" which gives you for 5 quarts, your car requires 8.5 quarts. Me: I now understand that, but he quoted me $75 knowing exactly the car I drive and how much oil it requires. Every car that is the same make and model as mine requires 8.5 quarts. You would never ever change the oil with only 5 quarts, so I don't understand why a "base price" exists given that you would never charge anyone the "base price", you would charge them more. Don't you think it's unethical to quote a customer a price, do the work and then, when your finished charge him much more? If it is more, shouldn't the employee have mentioned that and gotten the "OK" from me before they do the work? The manager was not apologetic and said there was nothing he could do. Will never ever go back to this location again ever in life! This is my closest jiffy Lube so obviously the place I would go to first period. I have gone to this location several times now. Almost each and every time has blown me away with disappointment. But the final straw was yesterday. I went in for an oil change to fill my fluids up and to up the pressure of my tires as the tire pressure light was on in my car. First of all this location has a lot of young men. There is nothing wrong with young men except for the fact of when you have lazy young man. This is what I found to be true at this location. I came in yesterday on a frigid evening to ask for those things that I have mentioned above. When I got my vehicle inspection report. I first noticed that everything seemed to look good except for the fact that I needed a hundred and something dollars service perhaps? But I also notice that my tire pressure was good. So after the service and me not accepting the extra hundred and something dollar service they were recommending for me I questioned the attendant who was actually taking my credit card and said you know I noticed that on my sheet it said that my tires were at 73 and we're in good condition. However I have the tire light on in my car. The attendance said oh yeah well they change that theyalways put air in the car. I didn't believe him as I didn't see anyone put air in my tires but on good faith I left, thinking that maybe I didn't see them do it. So I drove off in -17 degree temperature with my tire pressure light still on e t c. I know that sometimes those lights take a few hours to turn off so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I made several stops after my trip to Jiffy Lube with no light turning off for me. I parked my car and didn't go back outside until the next morning and which when I turned my car on the tire pressure light was on again or still. So tonight I took my car to a different Jiffy Lube which I will recommend and will only go to at this point. Although slightly out of the way. Seeing that for an oil change it is already a pricey place to go I expect what is promised every time I go. After dealing with this other Jiffy Lube tonight as soon as I pulled off the light went off guess they did what they said they were going to do and you didn't. Over it you need to get better workers or better management that will oversee that the workers do what they are supposed to do there is no way that I should have to take 2 days to do something that could have been done within an hour.
