Took my boat to their yard to see if they could take a look at my boat to remove a spark plug that…read morewas stuck in the Engine. They removed the boat cover lifted the Engine access cover, looked at the stuck plug, determined it could not be done and sent me a bill for a $156.07. This required them to only inspect by removing the rag I stuck in plug hole. They did not have to remove or disconnect anything. Never tried to remove the plug. They took a quick peek determined it could not be removed and invoiced me $156.07. They never documented on my invoice a solution to fix the problem. Take your business elsewhere. Waste of time and money. Did not get to talk to a mechanic with an explanation. Only the admin personnel. This place totally is unsat. Feel I was scammed with 10 minutes of a mechanics effort for $156.07. Really???? Expect a call from Dave who spoke a week prior. Thanks

A sign of a questionable operation is when its management feels it has to go on Yelp and give…read moreitself a 5-star rating. Ashley A. manages this boatyard and did just that. You can read her rating of herself in this review section. I had my 44' sailboat there all last 2025 season. The electric shore power pedestal did not work when we got to the slip in May. We were assured it would be fixed immediately. I kept asking all summer. Always the same answer but no fix. All summer I had to run my own longer cable to various other pedestals which sometimes worked and sometimes did not. All that time my cables were run over by dock traffic. Management response to other issues was similarly bad as well. I won't go into it all. The season's experience was frustrating. Requested services were promised and not performed. Lower-level workers were very helpful. I expect to see these guys write some sort of rebuttal in the form of another self-assigned 5-star rating to offset this one. All I can say is "reader beware".

The lift motors even survived being submerged in Chesapeake Bay waters during Hurricane Isabel in 2003. Now in 2022 some of the sacrificial galvanizing on the structural steel beams has been depleted causing the underlying steel to begin corroding, mainly under where the keel of my boat rests on the lift. I called the number I had for American Boat Lifting Services from 2002 and to my surprise, the business is still going strong but at a new location. I've made arrangements for an inspection and estimate to refurbish the lift for another 20+ years.
