As far as Jewels go, this one is better than most. It is large and clean and always has what I go in looking for. Like all other Jewels, they are convenient yet very overpriced. If I can get something at a different, less expensive grocer, I usually choose something other than Jewel. The fact is, the store stocks so many grocery items I can't completely avoid it. Also, their produce is usually outstanding. Their deli counter is well stocked, and most stores, including this one, have a sushi chef on staff. While the sushi isn't as good as you would find at a decent sushi bar, it isn't all that bad. You can find what you want but be prepared for sticker shock when you check out. read more

Love this location for its proximity to my residence! It is a more exclusive location for people in more dignified suburban environments with multiple streams of income. The EBT and snap options are not always available for those relying on those lower income type situations so please shop elsewhere if you are a part of that financially inferior demographic. read more

Of all the Jewel Stores this is the one closest to our house. We shop here a lot. This is also the most friendly location we have been to where the service desk staff and self check out stuff actually want to help. (Cannot say that for other locations) One star knocked down because sometimes the meat/fish items seem old. Also they are always out items especially during big sales, so it helps to shop early!!!! read more

I seldom shop here because of the high prices on most Items. Also, I find the bathrooms to be disgusting. Yesterday, I noticed the sign in the bathroom stating that it is a priority to maintain a clean bathroom. I have used the facilities from time to time and this was no different. The case on the toilet tissue is broken with tissue spilling out, the soap dispenser is broken with no case, the faucet is loose and the room is generally dirty. Shop somewhere else. read more

SO: Been going here for years because its very close. Now I find I would rather go out of my way for Mariano's. This Jewel is horrible with customer service. Went there awhile ago and mentioned to the manager that waiting in line for 20 minutes is a bit much. She turned to me and said:"well, if your're unhappy here either go somewhere else or apply for a job here!" Been retired for years so not interested in a job. Guess what? I'm going somewhere else, manager. At Mariano's the checker now greets me by name, asks how my day is all the while checking in my groceries and occasionally bagging. Always good sale and selection for the vegan and vegetarian food I am looking for, stock up when they run a promo like Quorn 2.00 off a 4.99 product in frozen... and can get great ethnic Indian or Asian vegetarian simmer sauces or curries in the clearance section... Service is very friendly and quick... and since I signed up for the card, I appreciate the purchases helping toward free gas at Shell... as well as the $. 20 off per gallon. This review is for the Deli department. Not once, but on two different occasions, I've attempted to place a sandwich tray order well within the required 24 hour lead time. Both times the staff was rude and said they were unable to fill the order within my time frame. (First time, not able to fill it at all during the holidays.) This place is highly recommended! Jewel-Osco is incredible! Their place is full of high-quality and awesome items. You can find so many great things here that can really amaze you. My girlfriend and I came here again the other day and we found everything at this place has a fair and reasonable price. It was really awesome. They are way cheaper than other grocery stores around the area. You can literally save a lot of money here compared to going to shop at other stores. This place, even though the shop had been going for many, many years. It really never had any major issues. I had been shopping here for almost 12 years and I would say that this is definitely the best place for me as I always like shopping, especially with my lover. It had been our hang out thing ever since. They really have everything, beer, food, and other stuff. Their alcohol area is supreme. I am telling you man. 10/2021 Still like our Jewel. Produce is good, and the prices are typically better than some of the competition. Staff is friendly. Still our go to place for groceries. 11/2020 This is our local Jewel. Find what we need each week. We do shop for some items elsewhere. But this is usually the most convenient place and the prices are pretty good. Produce is good and fresh. We are finding some products for the us that are dairy free. Have one person in the house requiring that. And that is very helpful. Selection of foods are good. We typically find all that we require. Staff is pretty helpful and plentiful. Some other places don't have as many staff and therefore harder to find help when needed. We find this store very helpful to us and love having it in our neighborhood. read more

I simply love this Jewel- Osco location, Great experience. I walked to the checkout line and told the checker I wasn't able to find a product I wanted to try. He listened to my description, then excused himself and went to find it. He returned about a minute later with two versions of the product which I was happy to purchase. Very impressed. the selection they provide, they always have everything that I need and more. The staff & workers here are also very friendly and know how to help you to the best extent. Just moved to the area and this grocery store seems decent to me. The choices are ok. Granted the produce is a little on the pricey side. I have never heard of $9.54 for a cauliflower but I thought it was a mistake. The deli is ok with decent coldcuts at ok prices. The fresh fish counter was ok too, nothing spectacular but passable for me. 1LB fresh large shrimp $9.99. The chicken, pork and beef seem tobe similar to other supermarkets around. The wine section is good for a grocery store and they offer 10% off if you buy 6 bottles. The cashiers at checkout are always very friendly and polite. Jewel Foods (one of the major groceries in our area) is offering early hours for seniors only in an attempt to keep seniors corona-free. Since I'm up at 7 a.m. anyway, I went. Entering the store with me as it opened was a 30-something mother. I asked her if she knew why the store was opened early. She looked at me blankly and said "I just want to shop and get it over with." On the plus side, there were very few shoppers in the store, and most of them were spring chickens in their 60s and 70s. Checkout personnel and people stocking the shelves tended to be near retirement age. I went to the deli counter and placed my order. While I was standing there, a 50-something regular customer named Roger came up to the counter, greeted the woman behind it by name, and waited until he could be helped. While she was filling my order, the clerk asked Roger if he was working at home; he said "No" proudly. The store was stocked unevenly; produce was fully stocked, but the coffee I drink wasn't there (it often isn't) even though there was lots of coffee. Bakery goods were almost overstocked, ground chuck was limited to I package only (and there were only 3 packages left), and single-ply toilet paper was there but no two- or three-ply paper. They had famiiy- and party-size frozen lasagna, but no single-size lasagna. As I was checking out, a 40-something guy came up to the checkout and announced, "There ain't no toilet paper!" as if the checkout lady could make it suddenly appear or expected her to drop what she was doing to go get some. I'd try to avoid the old ladies working at the service desk... horrible customer service and they always give you vague answers. They are so stuck up for no reason and they're only earning only $14 an hour.... ridiculous. read more

Produce is awful, and expensive. The liquor prices are pretty good. The checkout lines are NOT self serve, and sometimes very backed up, even though they are supposed to be "Express Lines". We went to take advantage of the chicken deal on Sunday, at 5PM and got home to eat it, and it was like shoe leather. There really needs to be some competition in the area for better prices, etc. Aldi should come in, and then maybe Jewel will lower their produce pricing. read more

I'd like to start off with what I like about this jewel. The people whom work at the pharmacy are always friendly and kind and there are lots of vegan options here as far as products go which I love... now the reasons I dread going here, it takes forever just to get through a check out lane. The people who shop here are so rude, have some serious staring problems, & a lack of common courtesy. If there isn't a bag boy, they expect a cashier who already has their hands full, to bag and put away their groceries in their cart. They make absolutely no attempt to bag their own groceries and won't move an inch. I have never seen such a thing. Also, some of the cashiers will have full on conversations with a customer. I in no way mind someone being kind and making small talk, but when they've already paid for their groceries and are in the way of someone else checking out, without the courtesy to move out of the way or wrap up their conversation... I definitely find a problem with that. These specific things have happened so frequently here that I had to make a comment on it because again, I've never seen anything like it. I feel it's more the customers that regular here that make this place unbearable to go to rather than the employees. I've only had one instance with a cashier that wanted to card me for cough medicine. When I asked why, she said "there's alcohol in this, I need an ID" . I picked up the bottle to show her it's alcohol free and she then scoffed at me and didn't even tell me my total or made any further eye contact. Wish I remembered her name. But very rude. read more

I hate that this store has no competition. Since the dominicks left its gone down the tubes at jewel. I've had several polite exchanges but it's grossly outweighed by rude ones. There are stock employees all over but they're either unhelpful or act like its a real hardship to help me find something. Usually the response is so vague I might as well have not asked. The produce is soooo overpriced here and middle of the road quality compared to other stores. Be very careful when shopping at this location. The Bogo offers are not what they seem. They mark up the first item so much that the free item actually cost the same as a non sale item. Also the meat department puts higher priced meat in with the sale priced meat, so check the by the pound cost. The constant sales on soft drinks are also alarming, the low prices are because the drinks have reached or passed the best by date. Fruit prices are high and often the fruit is going bad when you buy it. read more

In the same week, (August 2017), lemons at Jewel were $1.29 each and at Whole Foods they were $0.89 each. And, the quality was better at Whole Foods. The changes Jewel has made in the past 1 1/2 years are meaningless. The produce is just as bad as it was. When it arrives in the store, it's old. It's as if Jewel is cutting corners by delaying shipment of fresh produce. Produce employees are not removing rotten or damaged fruits and vegetables. A few weeks ago, I tried to pick through the plums. They were over-ripe; there were small flies hovering on them. One variety of plums was stuffed in temporary boxes / shelves in front of--and underneath--another variety of plums. They're damaging the fruit they're trying to sell. It's highly time consuming to pick decent produce at Jewel, (f they have any at all). Instead, I try to buy as much as I can when I'm at Whole Foods. I also will buy good produce when I see it at specialty markets, (Tensuke in Elk Grove Village). About a month ago, Jewel had European cucumbers on sale at about $0.99 each. They were maybe $1.30 at Tenuske, but they were good. The Jewel cucumber was already starting to yellow in the inside. You could taste that it was old. Sometimes I pay more elsewhere, but at least I don't end up throwing out food and wasting money. read more

Downhill ever since the Dominick's closed. Stale bread, limp celery and just generally run down. It seems like the deli sells different brands of meat every time I go there. Pick a brand and stick to it. I find one I like and the next week they do not sell it any more. Also, I used to be able to see the meat I was buying in the deli case. Now the actual product I"m buying is hidden. Not cool. Just another way to pull the wool over my eyes. I spend $100-$150 a week at this store and I deserve better. Poorly managed store. Here's an idea... since you don't bag my groceries anyway why don't you lower your prices. The cashiers act like bagging is not part of their job and good luck finding a bagger. The jewel in downtown Arlington Heights is much better because they have competition from Mariano's. Rolling Meadows needs this store to survive but it's not looking good.
