Great beach especially for small kids. A 60 passenger boat ride that takes 5 minutes, the island is a pack in and pack out long beach, with the only toilets located at the dock. A nature preserve, we saw bald eagles, seals, and osprey plus clams, crabs and ghost shrimp in the tidal flats. Reserve tickets are required for thr boat ride, and you must reserve a return time. Early returns fill up fast, and winds pick up in the afternoon, so take a jacket. read more

This review is for my last visit this year. I've been here before and ferry was packed! Fortunately, we got tickets in advanced. There was people upstairs and downstairs. Some standing up. So better be on time and make a line if this happens. This year was different. We got tickets but there was just another family. Maybe because we got there at midday. Beach was crowded. We had to walk just a little bit to get a spot and set everything. People come and go with every ferry so there's always space. Just a dew benches but everyone wants to be at the beach near the dry sand. Water will come later on, but the rest is wet. You have to walk for a few minutes to get to the water. It is pretty shallow. This year we had to run because it was shrimp season and they make sand unstable. At first everyone wants to dodge algae, but you end up stepping on it. Getting into the water was the same. It felt like quicksand. It didn't feel quite relaxing. 10 years ago it we would stay for hours in water. Kids would play easily. We'll, at least animals hace set a home! Jetty is a small island just a quarter of mile from Port of Everett. But i don't think you will be able to swim with all your stuff back and forth after a day there :D You ca always kayak if there's no more room in the Ferry. By the way, it is a small passengers only. Strollers won't move on sand so leave it in your car. Do bring everything you need like water, towels, a tent that can resist wind (it gets pretty windy and can blow umbrellas), etc. If you bring food, take all you garbage with you. Don't leave anything. I saw some kids stuff laying there waiting for the water to come over and take it to the sea. So sad. I carried most of it because there are no garbage bins in sight. Also, there is just one floating restroom. It tends to smell. Take it into consideration when drinking lots of water. We usually go to the one in the parking lot first and when coming back. It is very clean. Lots of stalls. Parking lot is big if you extend it to the grass area. There is always someone checking you paid for it. read more

Jetty island is a fantastic local escape hidden right in front of us all here in the pnw. The beaches are sandy which is rare for this area, so it's a treat for people sick of painful rocky shores. There is quite a bit to be aware of however, so here are my notes: -you can only get to the island by ferry, and tickets sell out months in advance. If you want to visit jetty island in the summer on a weekend, you absolutely have to purchase tickets months in advance. -this is a bummer because the weather and tides will be whatever you get. When tides are low the water is almost inaccessible and the beach is smelly. If you can find last minute weekday tickets on a week with nice weather and the tides are in, that is preferable. -the ferry is not like a normal ferry, it's a small boat and the ride is super quick. You park and walk on. -the beach has no shade, and there are no amenities on the island. Bring an umbrella, blankets, food, and water. If you don't want to sit on the beach, the island is fun to explore. It's a nice way to burn a day in the pnw during the summer. read more

Jetty Island is a small island located in Everett. It is an ideal picnic spot in North Seattle area. It opens only from July 5th through Labor Day. So I always try to visit at least once a year when the island is open. Parking lot is available for only $3 a day and a short ferry service from Everett to island is available for FREE. The schedule is as follows - - Monday - Thursday; 10:00 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Friday & Saturday; 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. - Sunday; 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. We had a good time playing in the water as well as observing people kitesurfing, kayaking, and boating. Campfire starts at 7PM - the island staff provides a cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow for roasting. It was a fantabulous experience! read more

Nice little island that you take a ferry to. Bring your own umbrellas and food/drinks. There is no food or drinks for purchase on the island. The ferry gets busy and full so buy your tickets beforehand. The very ride is not very long and once you get to the island make sure you get the passes for your return trip. One of the best thing I've done all summer! You can either take a short ferry ride or kayak there. It's actually better if the ferry is not running so there would be even less people on the island and you can leave on your schedule except you do have to carry everything with you if you decide to kayak there and it would be limited to how many people can fit on a kayak. It's $3 for all day parking in the lot. I love how shallow and warm the water is, it's very shallow, I was too lazy to find the bathroom because it's far and had to go out very very far out in the water to pee and end up giving up and just squat because at how shallow it is, but it's great to know that it's safe to play in with how shallow it is. There's a few picnic tables here, bring snacks, water, and lots of sunscreen as there's not really any shades here. This little island beach in the Everett marina is a hidden gem. It's such a wonderful summer beach - it's sandy and pretty. It's $3 to park all day in the marina parking lot and from there you take a little boat, just a couple minutes ride, to the island. Donations and reservations are suggested. There is limited space on the boat, so if you don't check in early or reserve ahead, you may need to wait for the next ride over, but that's okay. There isn't a store or anything on the island, so you need to make sure you pack accordingly with everything you will need for the time you plan to be out in the sun. read more

This "beach" is absolutely disgusting. Came here for the sand since most swimming and sunning spots near Seattle have rocky shores, which can be very uncomfortable for sitting, laying and walking. But although there is a real sand beach, the water is a good 50-75 yards from the sand and to get to it you have to cross a foul-smelling, algae-covered stretch of deep, soft mud. When I say deep mud, I mean that we were sinking in it up to our ankles while we were trying to walk, and at some spots (I'm not kidding) we were sinking up to our knees. It was beyond gross to walk in this for hundreds of feet (yes really) and on top of that the water is foul, it's just as muddy, it's strewn with algae and seaweed and after all that it's not even deep enough to swim in. It was more like a trip to a warm uncleaned turtle tank than a day at the beach. We stayed less than an hour and changed our ferry reservation to the next boat out, as did at least two other parties that were on the same ferry we took on the way in. I have zero idea why there are 4 and 5 star reviews here. You have been warned. read more

One of the best beaches in washington! So so sandy and not rocky at all like other beaches. It's a man made island with soft sand and warm waters. During low tide, you can walk out really far and the water is still shallow. Even during high tide, the water is still pretty shallow. Its windy for flying kites and fun to watch groups of people kitesurfing. On fridays and saturdays, the ferry does get full for departing + returning tickets. Go a little early than your planned ferry time to pick up tickets or at least go on standby if it's full. I've been on standby a few times and have had no issue. They usually can fit you in or your first up for the next ferry. Free jetty island parking on the grassy area. Free ferry ride and they accept donations. I could spend hours here laying in the sun with friends and family. Best little beach. Great getaway from nearby busy everett. read more

This is the best place for awesome summer memories. Get there early to get your jetty boat boarding passes for to and from the island..pack a picnic and if you can, bring a canopy or umbrella for some shade...sand buckets, shovels and kites are all a must! I called to make reservations for boarding passes for my group of 10 and the customer service agent was wonderful and even told me to have a great time on our day trip over! I'm actually a little surprised this isn't on Yelp yet! This little gem of the Northend should be shared! Jetty island really does have something for everyone. You take a small, free ferry ride and if you've never been there, you're in for a treat. Soft, sandy beaches. Warm, shallow water. Nature trails. Guided nature and sea life tours, amazing views. It's a little mini "Long Beach" right here in Everett. I recommend planning on staying the day. Bring the kids or the special someone, pack a picnic lunch, toss off your shoes and enjoy walking the beaches, collecting shells and taking in the beautiful sights. It's only open (with the free ferry) part of the year (Labor day was it's closing weekend), but it is accessible by your own small boat in the area, the docks have ample moorage. Please check local rules if that's allowed in the off season--or at least don't mention me if you get in trouble. read more

This place is GREAT. Seriously I wish I could have come here more this summer. I'm surprised more people haven't heard of this place, but at the same time I'd like to keep it that way. The sand here is great. Soft, not rocky or slimey, unlike most Washington beaches. Super clear water, and you can walk really far out and still only have the water go up to your waist. There isn't any shade here so don't forget your sunscreen, and bring an umbrella if you need to. There is also only one bathroom on the island so be prepared for the trek back or maybe find a beach spot thats not far away if you have little kids. Its also basically a fancy port-o-potty so don't expect anything luxurious. It stinks but its better than nothing. You also need to pack whatever sort of food or water you're going to need for the day. I suggest making this a day trip, since it is a little bit of work to just stay for an hour or so. Parking costs about 3 dollars and then you take a free 2 minute little ferry over to the island. I would suggest donating though because its pretty cool that this is free. On a nice day you're gonna want to get here early. Boat tickets get claimed pretty fast, we've showed up at noon before and the next available boat was at like 4. This is a really great spot if you don't mind packing all of your snacks and drinks for the day. Its pretty laid back and the beach and water are great. Be prepared to have to run by the ferry's schedule not your own, and don't forget your sunscreen! read more

Pros: ~Great for swimming--The warmest water by far in the Puget Sound. ~Beaches are 100% soft sand--no sharp rocks or slimy seaweed piles ~Consistent wind patterns great for kite surfing and sailing ~Free ferry from marina. ~Peaceful--no buildings on island except on the dock ~Private--you can always walk and find a private part of beach even in the summer. It's funny that when I ask people from the Everett area if they have been to Jetty Island, most of them say no. It is a one of a kind spot in the Puget Sound. A great public park right off the somewhat industrialized shores of Everett--but, as others have noted, it's a great place to soak up the sun and the fresh salt air. Plenty of parking, ultra-easy to get to, and tons of room everywhere for people to roam, set up a cooler and chairs, and relax. Great for young families. read more

I'm a naturalist on Jetty Island and I just want to make it clear that there are no dogs allowed on the island because it is a nature preserve. There are two exceptions to this rule. You may bring a service dog on the ferry and to the beach with you. Also, if you bring your dog on a private boat to the island you may use the area to the right at the top of the dock for your dog to do its business as long as it is on leash, but it cannot go further on to the island. IMPORTANT INFORMATION : #1Everett residents can get ferry reservations 2 business days in advance. This is very helpful because standby is not a good option on beautiful sunny days. #2 Even if you have reservations for your departure from the island as well, you MUST get your ferry passes for your departure as soon as you arrive on the island. Otherwise they will give your passes away. Imagine this happening when you have small children who are hungry and tired. Thankfully my kids are older. I have been wanting to take my kids here for years. This time I found out some very useful information. Everett residents can reserve their ferry spots 2 business days in advance. In the past I had tried to go, but waiting around for a ferry, hoping to get on the next one but not knowing for sure as a standy passenger with 2 young children seemed a daunting task. Any way, the person on the phone was very pleasant, but the person who took our boarding passes was irritable and rude. At the end of the day, we went to get our boarding passes and the person working at the kiosk was rude as well, and also they said they gave our passes away because we hadn't picked them up first thing when we got there (???). So apparently during the announcement at the beginning of the trip before you board the ferry, they tell us to get passes, but they don't say that ppl with RESERVATIONS also must pick up passes. I assumed we didn't need to get passes until we left since we had RESERVATIONS, which would mean they already are counting you as a passenger for that time. The worker agreed that yes, we would have been accounted for, but if we didn't pick them up on arrival to the island, they assume you aren't leaving at that time, again (???). This made no sense to me. So any way, we had to go in the standby line. Fortunately we got on the ferry that we had planned to leave on in the first place. We literally were the last 4 passengers to board, and that put the ferry at capacity. I was soooo relieved. Any way, if your kids are older, they will probably get bored with playing in the sand and water, so don't plan to stay for 4 hours like I did. There is only one bathroom on the island and it's when you first get off the ferry, and then it's a good walk to where the shoreline is. I recommend taking toilet paper and a bag to dispose of your tp in. All in all it was an ok day. Take a picnic and plenty of water, as there are no drinks or food for sale. read more

Amazing little Island. Love the free boat ride *tips optional* and it's not crowded because people only hang out near the walkway. They have volleyball nets as well, bring your cooler and some chairs and make a day of it. Be sure to let them know what time you plan on returning, the boat does get packed. Came here on a weekday and was able to find parking and was able to hop on a ferry fairly quickly. The ferry ride is about 2 minutes away. Be sure to use the restroom by the parking lot before heading out. Also, bring food and a beach umbrella if possible because there is no shade on the beach. read more

Every time I have gone I have loved it. Big enough entrance on ferry to bring a wagon if needed. Can get a bit crowded but plenty of island to spread out. The sand gets pretty sinky at low tide so be aware before you walk out too far! Look at the tide schedule ahead of time. read more

Cool place, but be sure to take lots of food, water and an umbrella. I say this because you may have to wait much longer than you want to get a place on the tiny boat, run by Argosy...surprise. We waited an hour when we arrived on a weekday at 10:30am. Then we only could stay 30 minutes to catch the boat back or else wait 4 hours for the next available one. It's an interesting place - yes nature trails, water to play in. When we were there it was extremely low tide, so it would have been a 10 minute walk out to the water if we had done it. It was pretty crowded. We won't return. Once is enough. Fun to check out, but really there are lots of other non-man made beaches in the area just as nice if not nicer. Plus the boat ride is about 2 minutes. Then the walk out to the water from the boat about 8-10 minutes. Exhausting on a hot hot day in the summer. But if you have never gone, go! read more

When the Ferry runs its a good Idea to travel down and get a pass for the time you want to go. On a nice day you may have to wait an hour or more if you dont get a pass early in the morning, like by 9:30-10:00 AM. Then you will have a choice of what time you want to get there. The beach is warm and sandy. The water is comfortable. Its great to watch the kite boarders who dont indanger any one. Bring food and water. as there is only snacks and small bottles of water for a buck. The nature walk was fun. Bring sunscreen. I learned the hard way. read more

We love Jetty Island. It is the best sandy beach we have found in the area. When the tide is in, you get a shallow place to swim that extends at least a 1/2 mile. It is warm like bath water on a nice day. When the tide is out, you get huge sandy area to run and play on. I would give it 5 stars except you have to ride a fairy (very inexpensive) over to the island, which makes it hard to bring food and gear. They also have a no dog rule. :( read more

Love love love! I'm not really a beach person at all but Jetty Island was awesome! We stayed from 12-5 and thought maybe we would be too bored but we weren't. We walked about 5 min down the beach and found a nice quiet spot to put our blankets and coolers. The ocean is warm and shallow. The beach doesn't have a bunch of pebbly rocks like so many other ones. It's full of sand. I would highly recommend!!! read more

To everyone who complains about waiting for a ferry "Make a damn reservation!!" You can make a reservation two days ahead for a time to go there and a time to come back. 8 or more of not in Everett. There is a trick to this that I have learned and I am not telling Lol. read more
