I…read moredid mention to the host that every August 31 is hard for me for the last 21 years because I was severely injured in hurricane Katrina. And the service and empathy I received from just saying that and just a brief tidbit about how hard the last 21 years have been had the staff almost constantly coming up and asking if I needed something else and you cannot get that kite type of empathy these days in restaurants and I really appreciate it. I got the toasted ravioli as an appetizer because I was just so nervous on every anniversary date of Katrina that I knew I needed to eat something, but I didn't wanna waste money on food I wouldn't be able to finish. For the first anniversary of Katrina in 21 years, I felt like I was in a safe place with people who actually cared, and I can't express how much that meant to me except that I'm not giving the food enough credit because my friend ordered a lot more and he loved it (I just can't remember the sandwich he got that he likes so much). But for the kindness they gave me on August 31, 2026. There is no amount of stars I can put up to express how much their kindness meant.

I felt so sorry for the waitress, because she was running all over the place & tending large groups & very forgetful. She seemed distraught, but they definitely need extra hands especially when it's a themed night that'll attract more customers. I really enjoyed their cheesy bread, but can't go wrong with a 2 ingredient item. I ordered deluxe calzone & it was HUGE! I also ordered LIT & they were generous with their liquor for a decent price. The game host accused our team of cheating, which was not cool cause we were one of the winners & could've lost all our points... booooo I did enjoy their food so I'll be back, but I hope the experience could be better.

Everyone commented on how great the pizza was so the whole family loved them. There was a lot of talk about not having pizza this good in a long time, yeah that good. We walked in and ordered them to go - the wait was about 20 minutes. For what we got I thought the price was super reasonable. Our waitress or host person taking our order was friendly and helpful with our questions. We walked back to the rental so I can't comment on the actual restaurant experience aspect.

I appreciated the jug of water left on the table. No issue needing anything or waiting for it. Compared to our primary location (Shelbyville Rd), this spot is much smaller. You may need to wait a few minutes for the tables to open up. We sat near the kitchen so lots of traffic - the alternative was to be fairly close to other customers. During nicer weather there is a patio to enjoy. Plenty of parking - Coal's shares a space with several restaurants and shops.

The only thing that we had that people weren't crazy about were the pepperoni knots, they were good but different than we expected(we thought there would be cheese with the pepperoni on the inside). It lacked in sauce so it was a bit less flavorful than expected, even with the pepperoni. Plenty of cheese. Okay for a quick pick up; however, not my pizza preference for Louisville.
