I would never advise anyone to take their animal to Westchester Veterinary Center. They failed to…read moreconduct a proper exam on my dog (Tedi) and this resulted in significant additional expense for me, prolonged pain for Tedi, and I eventually had to go to another veterinarian to get a correct diagnosis. When I confronted Westchester Veterinary Center, they refused to refund me for the services I had paid for that were unnecessary given an initial diagnosis based on an incomplete exam. This was despite the doctor's admission that he had failed to look into my dog's mouth despite a reported symptom of "pain in mouth". Through several phone calls (with Brandy and Katie), it was clear they were trying to shield their incompetence -- rather than accepting responsibility and making things right. It was shameful what they did. They only offered me $44 back and I told them they can choke on it.

I have been bringing my dog to Modern Animal Playa Vista since it opened, and I've had a…read moreconsistently positive experience here. I primarily go to Modern Animal for routine care and minor concerns. The space is clean and organized. The waiting area is small, but there are two sides so it is possible to keep distance between us and other pets. Our wait time is usually pretty minimal. Tech appointments tend to be very fast. The nurses and vets always ask if they can give my dog treats to make him feel more comfortable, and with my permission they will do so. I really like this about them - I think it really helps my dog feel more comfortable there. They communicate clearly and answer all the questions I come in with. I like the team at this location. They are kind and knowledgeable. I try to see the same doctors if available. It's not as personal as going to 1 specific veterinarian, but it works. Modern Animal as a service overall works really well for me. I like the app, the ease of making appointments and the chat communication. I feel like the membership fee ends up paying for itself if we go in 2-3 times in a year - it also allows us to go in as needed without the stress of additional exam fees. I also like the documentation and the access we have to all of it. The individual services/treatments, which are separate costs from the membership, are more expensive than what I've seen at other places. However, it has been worth the cost for me.

My puppy was attacked by another dog and I came running into MAPV in what I can only describe as…read morecomplete hysterics, thinking she wasn't going to make it. Between rushing to get there (sry to anyone driving on jefferson that morning didn't see ya) and begging my puppy to stay awake, I hadn't called ahead or warned them we were coming but you would have thought they had been expecting us - the receptionist came running out to meet us, already phoning the staff before I had even made it inside. I walked into the lobby to find a fleet of nurses and staff rushing to help. The time between my puppy being attacked and walking into Modern Animal was the worst of my life - seeing these women immediately know exactly what to do was the first sense of relief I had that day. They were completely calm and solid for my puppy when I wasn't, and while they got me and my hysterics under control, they got her bleeding under control. women, amirite. Dr. Parks was unbelievably calm and gentle with me as she explained that while they had stopped the bleeding, the extent of my puppy's injuries meant she needed to go to a hospital and that she already called the emergency vet in Westwood for us, who were waiting for us to get there, and they were staying on the phone with them to make sure they received us. One of the nurses walked us to my car and all but literally buckled my crying ass in - fairly certain that if she didn't have a job to get back to she would have driven us herself bc the concern on her face watching me get behind the wheel that upset was that of a mother concerned for a child. After we transferred over to VCA, it was such a relief to know they were waiting for us and that I didn't have to explain everything again while frantically trying to get my puppy help. Our vet, Dr. Parks, also messaged to check in and continued following up with VCA to see what happened to her patient, which I really appreciated. I went back to thank the staff with a healthy puppy who all came out hugging us and made me cry AGAIN but this time purely out of gratitude for these women. Before this incident, I already loved Modern Animal for the transparent pricing, lovely staff, and clean facilities. This experience took them over the top for me, and I will forever be grateful to the entire team for how they showed up for my puppy when I was completely falling apart. while you should try to get to an emergency vet if your pet is injured like mine was, they were my first stop not just because they're closest but bc i knew the degree of care we'd get from a modern animal - and while i have no way to know for sure, i'm not sure my puppy wouldn't have made it if we hadn't stopped in MAPV - they didn't waste a second in getting my puppy the care she needed and understood that in these situations seconds matter. those of yall complaining about paying a premium for next-level vet care... guess we have different ideas of what our pets are worth forever grateful to dr parks & her team at modern animal playa vista

We missed the travel window to fly direct from Dallas to London (As LHR was full and you can't fly pets out of Dallas after 1st June), so we had to send them Dallas t Houston to Amsterdam to Manchester to London. You allayed our worries time and time again and you delivered as promised. THANK YOU! ps. I was a little put off by some of the negative reviews on yelp for this company, but I can tell you that we only had a great experience. Highly recommended. John

Everything is well organized, and the rooms are beautifully put together. My only issue was the lack of communication and updates regarding my pup. Since this was our first time boarding with them, I expected to receive pictures and/or videos regularly, which I specifically mentioned when I checked in. The representative assured me that she would send them. A few days later, I called, and the receptionist also told me she would send pictures shortly, but I never received them. I was on a cruise and didn't have reliable internet access to check Instagram, so receiving updates directly was especially important to me. Unfortunately, during our 12-day stay, we only received pictures twice. I had to call multiple times to get an update, and even then, it took a long time for the pictures to be sent. I understand that things can get busy, but when a customer specifically asks for updates and is told they will receive them, I feel that expectation should be followed through. Overall, the facility itself is beautiful, clean, and impressive. My pup was in a beautiful environment, and the staff was very nice and professional. Aside from the communication and follow-through regarding the pet updates, we had a positive experience. I would definitely recommend improving the communication process and making sure promised updates are consistently delivered.

We got an appointment very quickly and were seen by the doctor shortly after we arrived. The waiting room always has lots of kittens looking for new homes and it's fun to watch them play. I think they get re-homed very quickly too, so that's always good to hear! The intake person is always friendly and genuinely concerned. We found out that Murphy had an ear infection and was scratching to try to scratch his ears. His ears were thoroughly examined and cleaned and he was given medication directly in his ears. The hotspots were shaved and cleaned and have healed very well. We were also given medication to take twice a day. Throughout the procedure, the staff kept us informed as well as told us how much the procedure would be in advance. Good News: Murphy the Doodle is okay and we'll have a follow-up this week.

I started bringing my cats here a couple of years ago because the clinic was highly rated, and for…read morea long time I had a positive experience. Even after seeing more negative reviews following the sale of the practice, I kept coming because I wanted one vet office to know my cats' history and provide long-term care. Unfortunately, I now understand some of those reviews. The practice feels much more corporate, detached, and transactional than it used to, and the decline in communication and attention to care has been disappointing. One example is the amount of automated messaging. I regularly get emails and texts reminding me to bring my pets in for annual exams, but even after I brought one of my cats in, I was still receiving messages a few days later saying she was due for services she had just completed. That made the communication feel more like sales and marketing than a vet office that is actually keeping track of its patients. I also had a frustrating experience with appointment confirmation. I scheduled my cat's annual exam weeks in advance and received no confirmation request until around 7 p.m. the night before, when I was told my appointment was being moved to "unconfirmed" status because I had not confirmed. I immediately replied that this was the first confirmation message I had received. Instead of acknowledging that, I was told the message was their "last resort" when clients do not confirm. It felt like the responsibility was being placed on me even though I had never been given the opportunity to confirm, which only added to the corporate and impersonal feeling. Most concerning has been trying to follow up on test results. I missed the doctor's initial call while working and called back shortly after. Since then, I've followed up multiple times and am still waiting to speak with the doctor. On one call I was told I would receive a callback around a specific time, but it never came. When I followed up again, I was told the doctor "may" be able to call me, even though this was already my second attempt to reconnect. I completely understand that veterinarians are busy, and I don't expect a doctor to drop what they're doing to take a call. That is exactly why there should be a better process for discussing test results. I would much rather schedule a time to speak with the doctor than spend several days waiting around for a call that may or may not come. Especially when something potentially concerning has been found, clients should have a clear way to follow up without repeatedly calling the front desk or trying to chase down a busy veterinarian. At this point, if you bring your pet here, I would recommend being very proactive about following up on appointments, records, and test results. I wanted this to be the long-term vet office for my cats, but I'm now open to finding a practice that feels more attentive, personal, and connected.

Hello, i'm trying to figure out how to update a review, so…read moreI hope this is the way to do it... Approximately a month ago, I took my cat , Popcorn, to Modern Animal and at the time I thought it was a terrible experience. However, I was wrong. Modern Animal realized that I was upset, and quickly responded to my concerns. They immediately reached out to me by calling, texting, and emailing. They took the time to go over Pop's file, showing me that the veterinarian in Manhattan Beach had taken very meticulous notes, however, they jhad not been added to my online file yet. They apologized and stated this was a mishap. I actually went back into the Culver City location, because it is closer to my home and the veterinarian and veterinarian technician were amazing. It's to the point that I feel terrible about giving them a one star review previously; It was clearly a misunderstanding. I now trust them implicitly. And, I will be taking all my fur babies to them.

Overall, very private equity pricing- nothing to do with the pets getting better service. I say try to go anywhere else but modern animal. They also just lack the professionalism- instead of saying upfront it's basically 3500 for each cat, they said it was 800 and then added bunch of stuff later on after i put my cats to sleep on gaba. Also hated the girl who tried to hide the pricing saying it was in the best interest for the cats, so i asked again and they finally showed me. They also charge for things they may use- so why not just charge after you are sure you used them. also told the doctor multiple times i can go to the VA to get his heart checked out but instead of that they said it was fine but wanted to run some extra test not covered by insurance in their office after i repeatedly told them i can take him to the va for get it cleared. this is horrible business model and should not be supported out of principle. this business model would mean less animals are rescued just for private equity pockets to get richer. Also the manager tried to poor shame cos i was appalled at the pricing and wanted to shop around and hello i did find a vet that charges 800 for full sleep and teeth cleaning. hallelujah. also no offense but 300 for rabies shot is also insane.
