Overall: Both my sons love coming to the dentist now. Yes,…read morethey are looking forward to the gold coins to redeem their prizes (reminds me of Pizza Hut back in the 80/90s) but they also have great hygienists and dentists here who are patient and accommodating of kids and their wiggles. KID FRIENDLY - knows their audience: The venue is new, bright white and clean - we started at their former location downtown and this is such a step up! The waiting area has digital distractions even though we've never had to wait past 5 minutes of our appointment times. During the appointments kids get to watch TV on the ceiling. CONVENIENT LOCATION & afternoon slots: The location is pretty convenient on the corner of Middlefield and Whipple, and they offer afternoon appointments at 430 which makes it slightly easier to make sure the kids are doing their check ups twice a year despite busy work schedules. They *do* get booked up so it's important to try to schedule after each appointment to get your early AM or late PM slots unless you're willing to risk last minute cancellations.

I have 14 years working in the healthcare field and was impressed with this dental practice. Story…read moretime: as first time parents, I didn't realize how AWFUL dealing with dental insurance for pediatrics is. I had a NIGHTMARE of experience with covered california & their assigned added delta dental HMO plan with no help to provide care for my 4 year old son whom complained of mouth pain. I went back & forth many times calling & requesting to speak to supervisors to escalate the issue with no resolution for a week. I even signed up for additional insurance in hopes to just get treatment but that solution still fell into the category of unknown of "in network" care & costs AND the plan didn't go into effect the following month which is useless because my son needed care NOW. Fast forward to doing research & reaching out to dental practices to find a solution, I came across Pediatric Dentistry Palo Alto which offered their own membership which was effective immediately & they had appointment availability to be seen the following day, I finally felt a sigh of relief. I could already tell the high quality of care my son would receive not only by the reviews I read, but also by the photos of the office, the location, and also by the way the staff communicated with me to address my concerns both financially & clinically for my son. The front desk Tony & Alani, were prompt in their responses & were solution focused which I appreciated most. Tony went above & beyond to assist with getting the financial program situated. We scheduled with Dr Adam through the portal & the staff informed us that Dr. Jon will be seeing my son instead because change in Dr Adam's schedule. I read high reviews for Dr Jon & we agreed that was fine. The experience: when we first walked in, the office is modern, clean & well kept. They had images of characters to create a welcoming atmosphere for kids. We were fortunate to work with our hygienist Andres whom was patient & worked so well with our 4 year old. It was perfect because before their treatment, they bring them into their video closet which our son got to choose & they display it on a screen above the treatment chair which we thought was very clever & cool! My son mentioned he was scared to go to the dentist & did so well because the whole staff created a welcoming & comforting atmosphere. Dr Jon was amazing, he has a great presence with kids as he is a father himself. We appreciated his realistic, honest approach to treatment & how thorough he was at explaining all the details. We are so relieved & happy that we stumbled upon this dental practice! We travel from San Francisco & Dr Jon asked if we were ok with the distance & we mentioned to him that we are the type of people to drive the distance to receive quality care. Our son mentioned how scared he was to go to the dentist for the first time, and when we asked him how it was afterwards he told us, "that was fine!" Thank you so much everyone :) you turned our nightmare pediatric dental experience to a pleasant one

I really think Dr. Michelle and Dr. Grover go above and beyond in looking out for their patients…read more I had the unfortunate experience of my son breaking his front tooth when he was 4 and needing urgent care. Dr. Michelle helped reassure me, was reachable and empathic, and helped make the x-rays and the treatment bearable. My little guy was scared. He got to keep the tooth but Dr. Michelle had to shave/smooth the rough, sharp edge where the break was and it was loud and scary. He had to stay totally still and we made it through! I trusted her fully and was grateful he was in her capable hands. My other son had some small cavities that were treated by silver floss which I hadn't heard of before but was a less invasive way of stopping the cavity from growing than drilling and filling. Lastly, Dr. Michelle came to my son's school for dental health awareness month and gave a wonderful interactive presentation that the kids loved. This is a great business. I am only sad, like everyone else, that they no longer take insurance :(

He has managed both our kids and thanks to their good work (sealant) we've yet to have a cavity yet! Parents can sit and watch all the cleanings. Kids can watch videos in the waiting room (which is never a long wait) and in their reclined back seats. Office is upstairs in a nice bright and airy setting that puts kids at ease. If you run into any childhood dental emergencies there is never a problem getting ahold of him or one of the other area dentists he rotates with on weekends. Those visits run about $200. Very professional and it's obvious Dr. Gerber cares about doing a great job and kids love him! His 2 hygienists are great and when we bring in both kids for their cleanings they work in tandem to get quickly you in and out. Receptionist does all the billing at the end of each visit and does a great job of scheduling and setting up the next visit. Have never had a cancellation or had to wait very long for an appointment. The Disney movie Cars was playing on the TV when we walked in and during the exam/cleaning. Both boys were seen in a large room where the hygienists worked on both at once and I could talk to both. The hygienists took me through a comprehensive list of first-timer stuff like brushing technique, diet, baby teeth timing, emergency care, etc. Their tone with me was friendly and respectful. All the while they chatted happily with my kids. Dr. Gerber has young kids himself, and clearly knows how to relate. He complemented the boys' superhero shoes and dragon tattoos before going to work on their teeth. I only gave four stars since this is based on a single visit. We'll be back.

I live in the east bay, but I am so glad that I took my friend's advice to try Dr. Quo. When we arrived, the waiting room had a great play area which set a positive mood for my son. We were called soon after we arrived and my son settled into the room very quickly. The monitor mounted on the ceiling, playing "Cars" (the movie), was so exciting for my son that he practically jumped onto the operating table to lie down! He looked so relaxed...which helped ME relax!! Dr. Quo explained everything to my son before each step of the procedure. He has an excellent bed-side manner and even used kid-friendly terms like calling the gauze a "blanket" to wrap around the tongue. I was feeling anxious knowing my son was having an emergency procedure (an extraction!), but I really relaxed as my son was at ease. The entire procedure was so quick too. I appreciated that Dr. Quo was kind & gentle to my son while being efficient & thorough (good for mom!)! I also noticed something that is important to me--the office is immaculate. When a medical office is clean and well-organized, it shows attention to detail...besides being sanitary, which is important for this type of business. He is very charming and personable and we initially trusted his recommendations. However, over time we became increasingly concerned because almost every visit seemed to result in our children being diagnosed with multiple cavities often five or six at a time. At our most recent visit, one of our children was told she had six cavities that needed treatment. Given the number, we decided to get a second opinion from another pediatric dentist before proceeding. To our surprise, the second dentist examined her and told us she did not have any cavities. That experience was extremely concerning and caused us to lose confidence in the diagnoses and treatment recommendations we had been receiving. I strongly encourage other parents who are told their child needs extensive dental work to consider getting a second opinion before proceeding!
