As a newcomer to yoga in my late 30s, I was looking for somewhere less intimidating than many studios I found. After a couple of years of physical injuries, anxiety, depression and weight gain, I found myself needing somewhere I wouldn't feel so uncomfortable in my current state. I found this studio and loved the ethos, and her background in physical therapy made me feel confident enough to book the 4 week beginner course. If you're struggling with things that make it difficult to attend group classes, I hear you. Every week took me an hour of coaxing myself out of the house. It was worth it. Every student is in the same boat relatively, the classes are small, and for someone not used to group classes, it helps with motivation far more than I ever thought! Both Jessica and Tegan are great teachers. They listened to my concerns with my back injuries. You can sit out poses you just aren't up for, and they offer slightly different techniques for back injuries. There's a big emphasis on accessibility - physical, financial - for everyone which is what drew me in, and having been through it, it's legit. There's gentle encouragement without feeling pushed. I'm writing this in case it helps other people in similar situations. It can be so intimidating and overwhelming to know where to start but I never felt anything less welcome here. :) read more
