Jess is one the midwest's premier voice trainers, specializing in working with singers in popular and commercial genres like rock, pop, R&B, indie, and more. Jess is also trained to work with people who have vocal health issues, including pathologies and injuries.
She's vocal coach to many professionals in Columbus including Jared Mahone, Nick Detty (Wolves at the Gate), Tony Alfano (Phil Dirt and the Dozers), Eric Gnezda (Songs at the Center), Nicki Baker, and Chaz Mechenbier.
Her training and approach makes her a great teacher for professionals and beginners alike. Each singer's unique sound and identity is honored and celebrated at every level. She gets to the heart of vocal issues quickly and efficiently, providing practical solutions. She hears what the muscles are and aren't doing and gives clear, simple direction to help singing feeling easier and more consistent.
Jess teaches private lessons in Marietta and Columbus, is an assistant faculty member of the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University, is the creator and editor of Commercial Voice Resources, and teaches contemporary voice techniques at colleges, conferences, workshops.

History
Established in 2017.
After 10 years of teaching full-time in Marietta, Ohio, Jess was asked by professional Columbus singers to bring her contemporary teaching method to Columbus. She established her Columbus studio in 2017.
Meet the Business Owner: Jess B.
After finishing her master's in classical vocal pedagogy and performance, Jess began studying CCM/contemporary voice pedagogy, and eventually realized her heart was in popular music. In 2016, she was named assistant faculty at the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University. She also created Commercial Voice Resources for voice teachers who work with this community. In 2017, she presented the results of a survey of commercial and popular music degree programs to the Association of Popular Music Education and The Voice Foundation. When she's not teaching in her Marietta and Columbus studios, she presents at colleges, conferences, and workshops around the US.
Jess performed on Mountain Stage in 2013, won Best Cover Song in the 2015 and 2017 Ohio Music Awards, was a quarterfinalist in the 2015 and 2017 American Traditions Competitions, and was a featured singer-songwriter on American Public Television's "Songs at the Center."
