**Rating: 1 Star**…read more **Incomplete Work - Paid Thousands for "Full Repipe" That Wasn't Complete** I hired RareBreed Plumbing in April 2024 for what was sold to me as a complete replacement of all galvanized steel piping in my home. I paid thousands of dollars based on this understanding. I trusted this company because the owner, Court, had previously done excellent work at my home before he owned RareBreed. Unfortunately, this experience was drastically different: **Professionalism Issues:** - Two plumbers argued with each other throughout the workday while in my home - What should have been a professional job turned into an all-day event - By the end of the day, 5-6 plumbers were in my house trying to finish the work - I had to speak with the crew leader about the unprofessional behavior **Incomplete Work:** - About a week after the original work, I had to call them back because the P-trap under my bathroom sink was leaking due to incorrect measurements - On Christmas Eve 2025, I discovered water on my bathroom floor - The source was a leaking shutoff valve connected to OLD, CORRODED, RUSTED galvanized steel pipes that were NEVER REPLACED during the "complete repipe" - I had to make multiple trips to Home Depot on Christmas Eve to purchase galvanized steel pipe and repair it myself - I sent them photos clearly showing painted galvanized steel pipes with old paint rings, proving they predate the April 2024 work - During the callback for the P-trap repair, workers were directly under this sink yet never addressed or replaced these corroded pipes **Company Response:** When I called to address the unreplaced galvanized steel pipes, I was told on the phone that only drainage pipes are under warranty. This completely misses the point - these galvanized steel water lines should have been replaced during the ORIGINAL work in April 2024 as part of the complete pipe replacement I paid for. I was told all pipes except copper would be replaced - that's why I agreed to spend thousands of dollars. I sent an email requesting a written explanation of why these pipes were not replaced as promised. The company has not responded to my email request. **Bottom Line:** I paid thousands of dollars for complete pipe replacement and received incomplete work. The corroded galvanized steel pipes I discovered on Christmas Eve should have been replaced when I paid for the job in April 2024. I cannot recommend this company based on this experience. If you hire RareBreed Plumbing, I strongly recommend: - Getting extremely detailed written quotes specifying exactly which pipes will be replaced - Taking before and after photos of ALL work areas - Inspecting all work thoroughly before final payment - Being prepared for potential professionalism issues during the work

To our recollection we have never posted a negative review, but our experience with Blue Best…read morewarrants one. We met with Blue Best late in 2024 to discuss our concern with air temps in our house, specifically temps in our living room and kitchen, which have high ceilings and southern exposure and become uncomfortably hot in summer. We were very clear about our concern, and the salesperson spent hours assessing our home and assured us his proposed system would solve the problem. We accepted the ~$14,000 bid to install a heat pump solution based on that assurance. By summer 2025, the living room and kitchen were still too hot on most sunny days. Despite many service visits and repeated adjustments (baffles, registers, fan speeds, etc.), the issue was never resolved. Blue Best ultimately stated the system was operating as designed and implied the problem was with our home, not their installation.  In our opinion, Blue Best is very good at selling a solution, but not so good at ensuring that solution meets what the customer needs. Two independent HVAC contractors opined: -Our ductwork is in good condition. -The thermostat, furnace, and compressor Blue Best installed were not properly matched. -Basic industry-standard load calculations (e.g., Manual J) were apparently not done, which would have shown the system was undersized for our home's layout, windows, and sun exposure. Blue Best has declined to remove the system or refund our payment, instead relying on fine print in the contract. We are now pursuing legal options. We have since spent ~$12,000 on a mini-split system from another contractor, which works as intended. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Blue Best and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.

After many years with a highly advertised and expensive company, we decided to try a coupon from…read moreAny Hour Services to check our heating and cooling system. I fully expected to be told we needed a new furnace (something the other company had told us many times.) Not only did they honor the low price coupon, they checked everything, and said that though our unit was old, it was in good working condition, and they hoped to keep it that way for awhile, because some of the newer furnaces made then tended to fail. That was about six years ago, and we're still going strong with our original heating setup. We travel a lot, and wanted to get on a regular maintenance program, where Any Hour comes twice per year, and keeps everything clean and working, We can call "any hour" with any trouble or questions. It has worked well. Last month, we decided our contractor may never get around to repairing the tub that he failed to seal or finding where all the leaks were coming from, causing a roof to rain on us downstairs in the garage. We also needed to replace a brand new water heater he'd installed in our new apartment above the new garage. It constantly smelled like sulfur, and the only way to stop it was to run all 50 gallons of water out of it whenever we used it. In Mapleton, that's very expensive. We decided to get a tankless water heater, because we wouldn't have to deal with water just sitting in the tank, growing bacteria and smelling to high heaven whenever we turned on the hot water upstairs in the apartment. Any Hour fixed all the issues, including black mold on the lower floor and cracks that let black widows into the basement. They found and tackled all the problems. No more leaks or spiders! No more smelly water, and no more $300/year to keep water hot when we may not even use it for months. Andrew had discussed all the options, so we decided on a gas tankless, which would require digging a long, deep trench all the way around the house to avoid tearing up concrete. (Our neighbor's was much closer, but that wasn't going to work, either. Ha!) The project began on July 10th, and the city guy finally got here July 31st, but it didn't pass. There was a gas leak and we had to call the gas company, and then the fire department. Ugg. It was due to a faulty part, which Any Hour quickly replaced. Everything is great now, and we just need to keep leveling the trench, adjust the sprinklers, then plant grass and get the lawn to hopefully grow again. We had to repair the drywall, sprinklers and pipe, but we knew that going in, and were okay with it, because if Any Hour had hired someone, it would have been much more expensive. It was something we can do ourselves for less money, so we're glad Any Hour know that, and didn't just assume we'd go for a less hassle but more expensive option. Any Hour is now advertising a lot. I'm hoping it won't change their good prices. Communication is key. Ask, and they'll tell you! Any Hour Services also worked with us on financing this very large and detailed project, which has been very helpful. When everything hits at once, it's great to work with a business that has our backs. Eric and I highly recommend Any Hour, and we weren't paid or offered any discounts to write reviews. We want others to know we've had a great experience.

Charged $399.00 to install. He worked on the 2 repairs for maybe 20 minutes. He was in the house for a total of 25 minutes. some of that time was to do the computer work to give me bids on other work he said we needed. $600.00 for $50.00 in parts and 25 minutes of labor. They took such advantage of me under the circumstances.

The old furnace went out the day before Thanksgiving one year, and they had a new one installed and running the same day. I appreciate the employees who have provided good service over the years. In the beginning I referred friends to SH, saying they are not necessarily cheap but they do good work. (Looking back, I realize however that I overpaid for the new water heater and other some other major expenses, I was just naïve and didn't do due diligence. More about overcharging below.) That being said, I've given up on SH. Too often my encounters with its employees go wrong. The person they send may or may not have experience with my issue, and they never ask for help from other employes. One recommended I have a new air intake installed (he came twice and couldn't get rid of the awful noise) and when I finally got a different guy over, he fixed the whistling noise just by recaulking the area; it was gone in minutes. Another guy made excuses for the (unsupervised) people who ripped up large patches of drywall because they didn't know to go through an interior wall; SH paid for the extra drywall repairs, which I appreciated. Another guy freaked out about the "sewage" he imagined must be under the board beneath my sink (there was none). Another couldn't tolerate me saying that I had never had a leaky condensation pipe until they replaced the AC. My 10+ years in my home meant nothing, and this is consistent: many times the repairmen will not give credence to anything I say, and however neutrally I state it, react as if I'm challenging them in some way. The latest incident is the $1800 estimate for replacing my kitchen sink (labor only). The guy said it would take 2-3 hours to remove the old sink (!!) and added that he would "cap the pipes" so I wouldn't lose water to the rest of house. I mean, there's upselling and then there's just BS. The plumber I hired removed the old sink in 20 mins and is charging a few hundred dollars for the whole job (including installing the new one). And of course the water to the house didn't have to be shut off, there are valves right under the sink. I'm really appalled they would just...lie.

Gage, their "14 years of experience" supervisor, came out to do a complimentary check of her furnaces. Mom has two furnaces, side by side. Gage changed the filter for the downstairs system, and said the upstairs one didn't need changing. Clearly, he was aware that there were TWO furnaces in the house, as he checked them both and they are side by side, and so, as the experienced person that he is, should have been aware that there was likely two duct systems. Mom then inquired how much it would be to have the air ducts cleaned and sealed. Gage quoted her the price of $3280 to clean out and seal her air ducts in her home. She said she wanted to think about it so he left. Later she called and said she wanted the service done and asked for the $3280 quote in writing. It never came. However, Gage came back to do the cleaning and as he was working he told mom it was going to be DOUBLE the price because there were TWO duct systems. Mom objected, pointing out that he knew-- or should have known-- that when he gave her the quote-- obviously because he knew there were TWO furnaces. He tried to say that he hadn't noticed there were two, and then went on about how he had to pay the other employees $2000, etc. He talked to her for about 40 minutes, trying to get her to agree to the bill of $6560. She wouldn't accept his excuses for doubling the bill. He stopped after doing the upstairs ducts and left. Mom then got texts and phone calls from Scott Hale telling her that she owed them $3280, and that someone was coming to the house to pick up the check from her. She called their customer service, and explained the situation-- that Gage had given her the quote of $3280 for the whole house, and that he had only done half the work. She then got two invoices sent to her, both for $3280. She thought they were just duplicates. However they were apparently for the two systems. She was notified someone was coming to finish the work downstairs and collect the money due. She told me the whole saga because she was extremely upset and anxious about what had happened. She hadn't slept for two nights. She felt like they were trying to rip her off. She didn't trust Gage to be honest with her. She was worried they were going to insist she pay the $6560, which she was not agreeing to. She said she was only willing to pay the initial quote to her of $3280 for the whole house. My husband put a call into the company. The customer service person was pleasant and said she would look into it. Then Gage called and said he would give mom a $300 discount for the second bill but that was it. Mom refused to pay the doubled price. Just to end the ordeal, she agreed to pay $3280 for the half job they had done and just didn't get the downstairs ducts cleaned. Even after all that, the company was insisting on sending someone to her home the next day to collect her check. She refused to allow them to come. She was that mistrusting of them. She mailed the check instead. I echo many of the reviews here--- don't use this company. Don't let your parents use this company. They are not trustworthy. They are heavy-handed in their treatment of older people. I just wonder how many other people have been pressured or tricked into paying DOUBLE the quoted price because Gage the supervisor "didn't notice" there were two duct systems when giving the quote. It sounds like a sneaky scam. Watch out! And if I could choose zero stars, I would. Crazy that they have three 5 star reviews posted on their website. So misleading.
