However, I'm not sure whether it may be a bit intimidating for people starting to dabble in cheese. The staff responded well to my knowledgeable questions but a newbie could be overwhelmed by the sheer variety of cheeses, meats and wine on offer They do different sized platters of meats and cheeses that you can eat in, which are perfect for a little snack or even a large snack!

You can smell the shop before you've even opened the door, I can only imagine that the people working here have no sense of smell left whatsoever! They don't seem to mind though, I always find them to be helpful with a real passion for what they are selling. True cheese experts. You can ask to try anything on display (they are more than happy to let you do so) and then buy by weight. Try the Muscat jelly too, great for topping off the perfect cheese. They also offer an online delivery service if you're buying too much to carry home (hey cheese is heavy you know!) and a really useful 'Ask The Expert' page where you can e-mail them all things cheesy. Great for when you're not sure which wine will go with your new purchase. And as the blackboard in the window says, "What's a party without cheese?"

I was at this food hall in December 2013. It's located on the ground floor of this large department store. The displays are extremely fancy and captivating. I recall seeing mini cakes that looked yummy. Even the fruit in the display case, as in apples, pears, and more, looked amazing and in pristine condition. The pastries looked scrumptious. I could smell the croissants! You can get sandwiches, from egg salad to lobster rolls. Feel like steak and chips? Yep, you can get them here, too. I frankly couldn't tell you what you can't get here. I felt like a dream seeing so much good food, but it wasn't. It's definitely worth a visit, whether you end up browsing like me because the prices were steep or you end up splurging. There was a wine section that had shiny bottles of fancy wine varieties. You could get cheese to complement your wine. Everything in this store looked beautiful and elegant. I would do a few things differently when I return to this food hall: - I'd do afternoon tea. I'd actually splurge to experience tea here because I didn't realize that I could until after my Harrods visit. - I'd find a hotel room with a fridge, so I could bring back pastries, macarons, sandwiches, and more. - I'd dine here to experience the entire food hall experience instead of dining at a restaurant within Harrods. The more I reminisce about where I've been in London, I want to return! (55)

Normally I wouldn't buy bottled water, but I couldn't resist -- this water was so pretty and looked so refreshing, with pieces of fruit in it. (We bought one with cucumber and one with bright pink dragon fruit.) For two sandwiches and two bottles of water, it came to £28.50. Not particularly inexpensive with the currency conversion (ouch!) but much cheaper than going out for lunch. Also, the sandwiches were delicious! It's a shame that we couldn't find the food hall when we had first visited Harrods two days prior. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England]

They also have a little offcuts basket, so if you want to buy little pieces for 75p a go, you can take small pieces of cheese instead. Of course we stopped to look, being from Wisconsin, and they looked up, smiled at us, then went on their way working. On the way back past the store, we had a go in! It's tiny, separated by a plastic curtain into a refrigerated area holding hundreds of varieties of European cheeses. Since we typically stop in the afternoon for a cheese snack, we thought we would buy some and take them back to the flat. We chose a Shropshire blue, Emmental from Switzerland and a soft cheese from France. The store was spotless, these ladies were very accommodating and knowledgeable and for 12 Bucks bought enough for a few days. The recommendations were excellent. This store is highly recommended on your trip to London.
