A brilliant little shop near the higher level platforms of Victoria - I have never been in without a smile and quick conversation (if I'm not dashing for the train!) from the lovely people who work there, and always in a sincere and helpful manner that makes you leave smiling even if you only popped in to grab a sandwich.
There is a good selection of cheeses on offer, which the staff will happily talk you through if you're not content on browsing on your own, and there is a good range of old-fashioned 'doorstop' sandwiches available (by which I mean you get a good, generous doorstop of cheese in each sandwich): think traditional cheese and pickle in a crusty white roll and you're along the right lines (although they do blue, smoked and soft cheese sandwiches too, like brie and cranberry/applewood and rocket etc.).
I live quite nearby, so I don't go in as often as I should on account of normally having grabbed lunch at home, but every time I'm running late or fancy a treat and have an excuse to pop in, it's a joy. I really recommend it! read more
