JSCA is a fantastic organization with a great facility located in the perfect location. Really great events to support the local sailing / windsurfing community such as regular racing on Tuesday evenings and Sundays as well as periodic larger regattas - all for the small boats that JSCA supports - dinghies and catamarans. Really excellent staff help the clubs at JSCA support their goals and events and a very well maintained facility. Hard to be critical of these guys. Not to be confused with The Galley Patio and Grill (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/the-galley-patio-and-grill-vancouver) which is the restaurant located upstairs at the JSCA offering fantastic views, cold beers and decent pub fare (tho a bit pricey). This restaurant is an added gem and makes for the perfect end to a day of sailing sitting in the sun on the balcony sharing a pitcher. Check the JSCA website for a list of the clubs at the center or just come down and rent a boat for the day or take a lesson at Mac Sailing. Excellent and welcome community at the JSCA! read more

After a fun and long tennis match we decided to find a casual spot to tingle our taste buds and the fun atmosphere here caught our attention. The member's only part of the patio had a band going with some drum pipes in the background. Arguably one of the best patios in the city with a non pretentious crowd all back from being on the water and needing to fill the empty stomach. We ordered the salmon burger which was although generous in size not that tasty. The fries were thick and nicely cooked so I was binging on them as opposed to my burger. All in all the food is ok, view is fantastic and the crowd is friendly. read more

OK I do keep a boat here, but it's a pitcher of beer and nachos at the end of a day of sailing on the deck that keeps me coming back. Or a breakfast and paper in the morning waiting for my sailing buddies to show up, watching the launch activity going on below me. This is the best waterfront dining in Vancouver, its open to the public but we like to keep it to ourselves, oh and I do sail my cat when the winds are right. read more

this place rocks..where else can you sit above the sand on a deck having a beer wearing your swimsuit. the menu has expanded as of late and I'm dying to try the fish tacos. We sometimes beach our Zodiac and step up for a burger and a brew. Great bison burgers as well as beef. Everything is served in reusable baskets and plastic cups. My parents have more boats than children, which has meant a childhood of sailing on the ocean. So in moving to the west coast a few years back, my biggest lament was that I'd be so close to an ocean and unable to sail it. Thankfully, the Jericho Sailing Centre is all about access. It's no snooty, pricey yacht club. The annual membership is a steal at $72, but you can also rent kayaks, windsurfers, or sail boats through the center's affiliate businesses. An hour rental of a windsurfer comes in under $20. Rescue charges are extra, though, for those who over-estimate their abilities. For a alternative fun day at the beach, the Jericho Sailing Center has plenty of rental and lesson options. Unless you're a land lubber. read more

It's great being a member here. There's the boating, the hot showers, the access by bicycle, and then there's the beautiful members' lounge where you can sip a tea or beer after a hard day's sail next to the fire. I threw my mom's retirement party on the top deck - a member's only zone that comes with a million dollar view, especially when it's Wednesday Night VARC races and the wind is up. I've been out of university for ten years but was able to join the UBC club on General Public Registration Day by lining up before the crack of dawn. Best decision I made all year. Now I'm never gonna leave. If you do drive, do not park in the adjacent parking lot. Park on Marine Drive near the Jericho hostel where it is free. Otherwise you are probably paying $10/day in the summer months - parking in the lot is free in the winter. I know this should be written separately but don't take classes at Mac Sailing. The ratio of instructors to students is way too low. Sailing is hard and it's best to start out with a few private lessons to get your started. You can't skimp on good sailing lessons. read more

I've always loved it here, since 1993 Still love it. Sailing opportunities, was on the rescue team, volunteered for DSA, sailed with UBC, Locarno, Discovery,...my child took lessons with Mac Sailing, I've taken lessons with Windsure, owned my own kayak and rented a spot, rented equipment from Ecomarine,....loved it all. Met long lasting friends here,... And my husband. read more
