All of the teachers are warm and caring. They are very mindful which classroom each child is in depending on their developmental milestones. They will move them up when the child is ready and always are willing to have a conversation about it if a parent feels differently about anything. They are amazing at keeping up with healthcare recommendations, especially enforcing vaccination, which I greatly appreciate in this era. They are very transparent about any infectious outbreaks that are happening so that parents are aware for each individual classroom to be on the lookout for symptoms in their own child. They use dojo to communicate so that we can see pictures and videos of all of the great learning and fun that our children are having as well as to send messages to the parents. They celebrate all of the national and international holidays, which makes this daycare, especially culturally inclusive. I love the diversity of the teachers and the children, building a wonderful social foundation for my children to experience while they have been here from three months all the way through five years of age.

As nervous parents dealing with COVID fears and food allergies, we were so worried at first. But the staff promised us everything would be okay, and they were totally right. This place is special because: - The teachers genuinely love what they do and it shows - Our son learned to read and write in TK Sharks (we were so impressed!) - They handled his allergies perfectly, giving us such peace of mind - He was SO ready for kindergarten thanks to them Walking in every morning and being greeted by Ms. Taylor, Ms. Christine, and Ms. Theresa at the front desk just starts the day right. And the teachers throughout the years, Ms. Dianne, Ms. Ginger, Ms. Tammy, Ms. Barbie, Ms. Erin, Ms. Madi, Ms. Christy, Mr. Nick, Ms. Carmen, Ms. Julie, Ms. Paige, Ms. Suko, Ms. Priscilla, and Ms. Parvin have all been incredible. Each one has touched our hearts and made such a difference in our son's life. After all these years, SEA feels like home. Our son loved it, we loved it, and we're so grateful we found this wonderful, caring place. If you want your child to be loved and nurtured while learning and growing, this is the place!

They had food trucks selling shaved ice and snow cones, arts and crafts, food and snacks, games, a DJ, and live performances by their lion dance team, hula dancers, and martial arts team. I was amazed by how talented the students were. I've seen a lot of professional lion dancers and the performances by these kids were comparable! They did such an excellent job! The school did a wonderful job planning this event, but their greatness doesn't end here. According to my niece, all of her teachers have been awesome! She actually looks forward to coming to school and is sad when it's summer or winter break because she misses her teachers and classmates. The school has a strong academic program and is one of San Diego's best! Lion pride shines bright at Jonas Salk!

Of course even more biased because I have been on the PTA here for the last 10 years. Gotta put a plug in for the PTA....but they work hard to make sure our staff and kids get 100% support! Mr. T set high standards for this school and with our new principal Mr. Lee he has even set the bar higher. They have both done an extremely awesome job with the school. We have a lot of activities that we do for the kids from our money making Fall Festival, Spring Jog-a-thon, Family Movie Nights, Family Dance, etc. Casa Mira View across the street is a tremendous assistant financially to our school. Perfect place to live so the kids can walk right across the street. Our PTA supports an awesome art program through Art Corps. This allows the kids to learn 8 fantastic art lessons which we then present at the end of the year at our Art Show. With the support of our PE program headed by Mr. Kaneko the PE also helps fund our Swim Program. Grades 3-5 take part in a twice a week swim program for 6-8 weeks in the Spring. Our 5th graders get a one week full of fun before their promotion in June that 2 of my 3 have the pleasure of enjoying. I can go on and on about the school....message me if you ever have any questions. I also work at this school is a special education assistant, because I love this school so much =)

What a pity, when we moved to beautiful Tierrasanta (which we LOVE), my family got stuck with this excuse for a learning establishment. BTW: my children attended elementary school in Clairemont, and it was a 'shining star' of a school, compared to Kumeyaay. They have hundreds of rules, OMG ( ! ) I don't have alot of time to go into details (there are many more) but the primary two are: #1. RAISE MONEY $$$, constantly! Yep, this large school, in (above San Diego-average) wealthy Tierrasanta, Thier motto seems to be: COME UP WITH NEW (and IMPLEMENT immediately) WAYS TO RAISE MONEY. Constantly. Weekly. ...including asking young school children to call parents with 'cute' messages of, basically, please HELP US with money.... so a new (MONEY-raising) EVENT, every week or so, is par for the course, and still another message (along with a thick RULES book) to the students: "NO HAVING FUN!" (unless you mean FUNd-Raising). Ha Ha. Ahhhh Arggg! (I can't help but start humming, if not singing, the P. Floyd standard, "Another Brick in the Wall," whenever I have to go on their campus :) #2. AND, especially, "NO HAVING FUN around HOLIDAYS" Here's the jist: unlike before-praised, Clairemont (and most other elementary schools), they don't do holidays, here. Well, barely! Two examples (a) Halloween (no Carnival, nothing), they let the kids "parade around" in NON'scary" costumes/NO MASKS" and "no costume shoes" early first thing in the morn, only, and then take EVERYthing off -- before school started. NO carnival, Nothing. (b) Christmas (oops: "winter season- days-before that 25th thing/deal): Nothing. Unlike Clairemont school, who had a dance/play/etc., before un-nameable holiday, I did not see an flyer, receive any communque (my son had nothing to report from the first 2 weeks of Dec...no activity; no event, NOTHING. "Celebrating ANYthing (oh whoops: except if MORE $$ is involved --- please see # 1,above) ist Verboten at Kumeyaay Elementary !!" P.s. I wrote the above review, late last December, after that, y'know, one-day holiday-thingie, but now that I've posted it, let the fun begin. Let the Coyotes howl: P.s.s: "Ah, the truth, what a thing it is! I sacrifice so much for it, with people: I forego, for truth's sake, discretion, tact, polite manners, elegance, grace, poise, balance, good taste, conformity, image-role, fashionableness, hypocrisy, and lots of other things--amass sacrifice, at truth's altar. God! is truth worth it? I hope it is. It better be,.." -MARVIN COHEN

Though they kept telling me he's still a baby and his behavior will change, I was also told they don't have the staff and correct skills for himto basically succeeded there and they suggested I transfer him to a school where there is a classroom with less students and more staff to help give him the support he needs. Since we have transferred him to Park Village and seen great improvement. As for Morning Creek, our experience has been less than great. I don't feel like my son was given the chance to enjoy his home school. I don't think they implemented much to help him succeed in the classroom, I felt like he was judged for being hyper and hard to redirect. He did get free a little physical with some of the other TK students which I heard about every incident. But as the school year goes on with him at Park Village, he's been telling me about one specific student from MC He did not enjoy spending his time with and this student caused him a lot of physical pain as well even when he tried to be nice to him. I was never told of any kids being physical with him just the other way around. To this day HE feels like no one at the school, staff and students like him and as a mother, this makes me super angry because why is my five-year-old having these thoughts of his elementary school? I have spoken to a neighbor who told me she has met families who were told they don't have the proper skills teach high stimulated kids. Mrs. Smith, the behaviorist and the recess staff always treated him well. It makes me sad he thinks his teacher didn't like him and the other Students. It makes me angry that he supposedly initiated every violent incident. I got the chance to be in the classroom every morning for the first month of school and let me tell you, kids can be quite brutal to each other with their words! I know for the most part they don't realize what they say can be hurtful to somebody but my son has not forgotten all the mean words said to him at Morning Creek..
