Walking through old town waiting for my hotel room to be ready for check-in and stumbled upon this…read moremeatery. Swiss cheese stuffed sausages wrapped in bacon! Could there be a more perfect food? Great service and a wide selection. Definitely recommend!

I absolutely adore this butcher. Whether you are planning a barbecue, are having guest to cook them…read morefancy dinner or just some friends that come over too often and you don't want to spend too much $$$ on them no matter what your purpose that sent you on a mission to enter a butcher shop you will be help here with an open heart. Sometimes I have no clue what I want to cook then I pick not so busy hours meaning not lunch or just when they're about to close so when they have enough time they gladly suggest you what you could cook. From all types of meat they also sell cold cuts and cheese plus small things for your Apéro, and even fresh fish. You can also find that Swiss small bread Bürli which I highly recommend. They also have a fantastic corner for ready to eat food warm and cold. If you feel hungry don't think twice and go there they always have a fantastic menus. They have some traditional things which they always have like burgers and sausages but then the menus always change on a daily basis. For a barbecue at home I'm a big fan of the tomahawk and the porkchops especially if they are from the Alps. They have their own fridge where they dry age the meat themselves. Also not to miss are their own sausages which you can throw on your barbecue there are the Italian sausage Lughanige *big high five* so good when bbqed, and their homemade pork sausage. From the things to go I absolutely love the red fatty sausage Schüblig. It is super filling so I can't have it every day :( Also their hamburger is good and compared to Zurich prices a little steal. The best thing I saved for a the end: I was having my whole family coming over for Christmas dinner and I wasn't sure if that them Turkey would fit in my oven. When I told this they didn't hesitate and told me that they would prepare the turkey for me and then I could just come and pick it up. Being a host I didn't want them to prepare the turkey so then they suggested I could pick up the cold turkey, stuff it and prepare it myself and then just bring it for the baking time and then pick it up again. They were even so kind to give me a pro box where food remains warm four hours. I think this is the best way you can satisfy your customers especially if they are a little bit difficult and picky like me :)) high-five to that special butcher team and of course five star review. (On a side note please support this business as it is a family business with the tradition and Zurich has small businesses disappearing more and more. I always thought they must make a ton of money to be able to pay the rent at this location but then I got to know that the property is owned by the city and this is how they can survive in the middle of the old town)

We were lured in by lunch-eaters sitting in front of a neighboring business. Folk were eating what…read morelooked like fried rolls, rice and greens. -definitely not the usual Swiss fare. Then we saw Tang. This Asian grocery/sundry store, like those in Zürich, is pretty well packed out with dried goods, frozen meats, beverages, sauces, dishware, ceramic statuettes and veg/herbs. If one wants basil, and a bunch of it, then Asian markets in CH are always the place to go. Unlike most Asian markets in ZH, Tang serves up hot food for those hankering for Asian fare. The menu is limited, but both meat eaters and vegetarians would appear to be taken care of. (I tried getting a snap of the food counter up close and personal, but it was always manned & I felt a bit self-conscious. Sorry!) The hubs and I were a bit thirsty, so we grabbed one can of lychee drink and one of toasted coconut (with bits of coconut inside). -small fridge at the front offers them cold. We also picked up a packet of those lovely ginger candies that are so potent it makes one cough. Armed with our wee purchase, we made our way to Kannenfeld Park, a few blocks away, to visit the giant and have a sit-down. http://www.yelp.com/biz/kannenfeldpark-basel For those of you living in Basel with a 'yen', pardon the pun, for Asian cuisine, I would recommend Tang Engros as a shopping destination.
