They were incredibly involved with the physical design of the space, which included frequent communication with our construction company and subcontractors, ensuring that everything was accomplished according to the plan. This included but was not limited to: designing lighting plans; meticulously designing and measuring cabinetry, and then working with the cabinet maker and subs to ensure a correct fit; swooping in to fix address all the issues, from fixture placements to counter heights to wall lengths. Their attention to detail along the way was truly astounding and their knowledge of home workmanship is unmatched. There was never a problem they couldn't fix or an issue that they couldn't untangle. A lot of customization is offered and the wait times hopefully are not as bad as they were during covid . The membership is great because the prices do get discounted substantially. They use third party delivery services if you need it delivered to your house but it comes at an additional cost even if you are a member . I am a big fan of the chandeliers and light fixtures and even though they are pricey , I feel one can easily elevate any space with those . But having said that -its an Investment in itself . I wish they had the RH restaurant that they have in other cities because the patio up here is gorgeous .

The origin of their couches is China but when asked directly if a certain model was made by XX company in the US, they say yes. It's unfortunate. I really thought I found what I was looking for but likely will keep searching. Do your homework before making a major purchase here unless you have $12k or more to flush down the toilet. The store is stunning but it's a flawed model.

However, we assumed that Stephanie would provide us with an overview of the process with timelines and what to expect in order to work with our move-in goals. She never provided any sense of targets or timelines, which left us unsure how things worked, when we were supposed to reach out to her, and when we should expect to receive mock ups of designs/options. There was overall really poor communication and we tried to address this. Eventually, at some point, she decided that we were not a good fit as client and designer and even mentioned she had a feeling this would not work the moment she stepped into our home originally. In that case, we wish she would have told us that earlier instead of bringing us on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. We later got some very harsh and cold emails from Kami accusing us of sending bad checks, when in reality, our materials had gotten mixed up as we were moving, and would have been able to rectify things if they had communicated properly with us when we first sent over the payments. Honestly, just looking at the way she responds to comments on Yelp (in addition to her communication over email) shows how she lacks professionalism and basic empathy. Perhaps, we just had a bad experience, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a super friendly business for people of color, particularly with a desire to integrate some of their cultural elements into the design, or for people new to the interior design process.

They found us amazing furniture but also came in and used our existing extensive art collection to make our house a stunning show piece that I keep walking through, feeling like I'm on a design show. Peter Spalding, founder and designer of DanielHouse studios, drew plans for and supervised the work…read moreon a complete kitchen (and adjacent spaces) remodel in our 1927 house in early 2016. His plans demonstrated an ability to "think outside the box" and to reconfigure the existing space in a way that was both very utilitarian and also true to the architectural period in which the house was built. His vision is both grand (overall design) and granular (specific details such as trim, cabinet pulls, light fixtures, etc.). We are exceptionally happy with our kitchen, and the adjacent hallway and family room that were included in this project. This wasn't our first remodel. In 2001 we embarked on a complete renovation of the second story of the same house. The designer for this project was on-site once, when there was a problem translating the drawings into framing reality. In contrast, Peter was present at some point during most days of our kitchen remodel. He worked closely and frequently with both the general contractor and the subs, demonstrating a willingness to make changes when useful, but also willing to go to bat for ideas he saw as central to the project's execution. To summarize, we were very happy to work with Peter. His engagement during the process was praiseworthy, and was central to creating such a lovely finished project.
