The restaurant is a treat & the large gift shop is my go to for gifts. It was easy to spend 2 hours wandering around. The Norton features a collection of over 8,200 works, focusing on European, American, Chinese, contemporary art & photography, making it Florida's largest art museum. It was founded in 1941, and expanded in 2019, adding new galleries, a sculpture garden, along with improved public spaces. The museum presents works by masters such sPollock, Miro, Chihuly, Matisse, Calder, KaO'Keeffe, Chagall, Rodin, Picasso, and Hopper, and hosts programs like "Art After Dark" on Friday nights. The photography & kabuki special exhibits were wonderful!

They had so many beautiful pieces of art from all different eras and cultures. The people were also very nice and welcoming The impressionists are always my favorite paintings and sculptures to see. They had all the different masters and some very famous paintings and some other special ones that I hadn't seen. Everything from Degas to Renoir to Rodin and many more. They also had a really great PLEIN-AIR collection from artists I hadn't heard of which made it even better and more interesting. It's such a gorgeous technique and they created such beautiful work. You often only hear about all the great work from the European masters but there were also some talented Americans who could also master techniques like the Dutch master Vermeer and how he could perfectly capture light and shading. I loved the gorgeous painting by Everett Shin. Fantastic! John Slogan also created a painting that reminded me of the posters of Talouse Latrec. The global cultural pictures and artifacts were also pretty fantastic. The Japanese pieces made us think of the wonderful time we had in Japan and all the wonderful museums, temples and places we saw. I also loved the Chihuly Ceiling which was so beautiful. I loved all the beautiful colors. They even had some Andy Warhols which made us think of home and his terrific museum in Pittsburgh. They have a broad range of all different types of art. We'll definitely have to go back and explore further the next time we're in FL.

Henry Morrison Flagler Museum -- it's truly one of my favorite museums…read more The building itself is breathtaking. The atmosphere feels grand and almost surreal -- high ceilings, intricate hand-crafted details, beautiful paintings, and original interiors that have been preserved so carefully. Walking through the rooms feels like stepping back in time. The closets, bathrooms, and living spaces are all still there, untouched, which makes the experience even more special. One detail that really surprised me was the shoes -- they were incredibly tiny, almost like doll shoes. It's amazing to see how different things were back then. On my recent visit, I noticed they opened a new section on the second floor that I hadn't seen before. It's a mix of contemporary art and historical fashion elements -- including clothing details, vintage shoe boxes, and personal items from the original residents. I especially loved the miniature handbags and a wall art piece featuring delicate gloves -- so small, elegant, and made from very fine leather. There are so many unique details to take in. There's also a gift shop on the first floor with a great selection -- we even picked up a Monopoly game themed around the museum, which was such a fun find. They also have books, coloring items, posters, jewelry, accessories, and even small unique souvenirs -- something for everyone. Another highlight is the separate glass building . They recently opened a café there that serves breakfast on weekends. The view is stunning -- overlooking the water with the historic train nearby. The space is bright, clean and very peaceful. The only inconvenience I experienced was when my kids were younger -- strollers are not allowed inside, so keep that in mind if you're visiting with small children. Luckily, I had a baby sling with me, which helped a lot.

Learning about the history of the game and the grounds was good, and our charming docent was a wealth of knowledge which made it even better. - The staff and servers were all very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. - But... - The "high tea" designed to replicate a luncheon of the gilded age failed to live up to expectations. * I understand it's "tea" and not an AYCE buffet but when you pay almost $100 per person, you should reasonably assume you won't be leaving hungry. Au Contraire! * 2 finger sandwiches and mini tarts per person, plus 1/2 a deviled egg? My daughter's tea parties have more food than this... Plan on stopping for lunch after you eat here.

The Lester's also founded Art Miami, Art Asia Hong Kong, American International Fine Art Fair and Art Boca Raton. The show was acquired by the Palm Beach Show Group in 2022 who also puts on the LA Art Show. Art Palm Beach is the largest and longest mid winter art fair in the Palm Beaches. This art show is dedicated to exhibiting the contemporary, emerging and modern masterworks of 20th and 21st century art. Seventy-six national and International galleries showcased their work for sale. There were also several art museums presenting at the show including the Boca Raton Museum of Art, MOCCA (Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas), and the Danubiana Museum of Art in Bratislava, Slovakia. Art mediums included photography, painting, design, fine art glass, metal, gems, sculpture, and video. Displayed in front of the convention center was Ominka by artist Viktor Freso. The large, inflated bear was covered in blue brooch's inspired by a sentimental costume brooch purchased by artist Viktor Freso's grandmother in 1964 in the United States when she was pursuing a singing career and then taken back to Slovakia. Another stand out art piece was Project Eternal Light from the Reflectspace Gallery displayed in its own area as soon as you walked in to the event. Artist Han Ho's nine lighted panels depicts an apocalyptic end of the world for humanity and was inspired by Michelangelo's Last Supper. A featured exhibition was Big Birk, a 19 foot high, 16 foot long Birkin Bag. It is billed as the world's largest Hermes, Birkin Bag. One of my favorite pieces was the interactive Breakfast by Sydney Warming Sea. Software, a camera, and a computer flips foil on discs into your image when you stand in front of it. There was so much other eye catching art. I especially enjoyed anything featuring animals, light, or kinetic movement. Tickets to this show were $35 but if you follow the galleries on Instagram before the show, some of them give out free tickets. If you pay extra for the VIP tickets there was a private lounge in the center of the convention floor. There was also a Friday night gala for an additional price. During the show there was food and drinks for sale. Parking was offered in the convention center garage for $5 for two hours. Allow a few hours to see everything. There was ample seating on the convention floor in between galleries. This was my first time attending this event and I loved everything about it.

We were lucky enough to be invited as guests of our friends who it seems have gone for years. We met them at the convention center (there's easy parking in the attached garage or you can valet park). Some 85 international galleries had exhibits of all mediums of art. It was like going to a very upscale museum. There was no set traffic pattern here. You could wander in and out of the exhibits as you wished. You could spend as much time as you wanted admiring what you liked. Many items had prices on them. Some were priced "on request". In the middle of the exhibit was a coffee shop/snack bar where you could sit and rest and have a bite. I especially liked some of the kinetic sculptures, the Chihuly glass, and the big "moon" installation. Our friends were drawn to some of the paintings. Such creativity using various methods and mediums -- like an eagle that was made of buttons strung on filament. Or the heart shaped sculpture made out of paint and paint brushes. A number of palm beachers were here to see and be seen. Their outfits were equally as attractive and interesting as the artwork. If you like art, even if you're not in the high rollers league to be a buyer, come here at least to browse. It's a great show!

If you have patience and a good vocabulary, you will benefit from the tour guide's explanation of what they have and learn a lot. Small children may not have the patience or language ability to grasp what they are being told. The museum is located in a store front inside the Wellington Mall. It is not far from the food court and near to the Penny's Department store. You will find it by walking down the small corridor. There is an admission for adults and for children. They do give a veteran's discount on tickets. And we did tip the tour guide, as a courtesy, as well. They do have a small play area with a movie on a monitor that kids might like. Plus they can "pet" a dinosaur and enjoy all the models and pictures -- plus the museum store has some interesting items for kids. If you do take the tour, you will learn a lot about the dinosaur they have there -- nicknamed "Cheryl". Some parts are actual fossils and some parts have been recreated. And you will also learn about the relative sizes of various animals and other dinosaurs -- As well as a bit of history and science along the way. I'm glad we went.

The museum is open every day but Sunday and is free. We came here, however, for a special exhibit so there was a charge of $12 per person. There are no discounts for admission (no veterans or senior citizen or other discounts). The exhibits here are self-guided. Although they do offer some guided tours for a fee. We entered the building by the steep steps fronting Dixie Highway. If you have any walking issues, I suggest using the side entrance that is designated for handicap visitors. It's much easier to use -- and there is an elevator to bring you to the floors you wish to visit. We didn't stop to see the old, restored courtroom on the third floor nor the holocaust exhibit on the first floor, but headed directly to the special exhibit we'd come to see. The "Wish You Were Here" exhibit (on the second floor) is about tourism in Palm Beach County. As a former member of the tourism/hospitality industry for over thirty years, this was of special interest to me. The exhibit started here in November 2024 and runs through June 2025. They had an audio tour -- you just scan the QR code with your phone -- and you can follow along as it explains the various exhibits. They start with the first visitors to the county in the late 1800's and take you through to the modern era. There's even a film by the local Visitors Bureau about the County and its growth. You get to see posters, paintings, artifacts, etc. from the early hotels to the current sports activities. After that special exhibit, we headed over across the hall (still on the second floor) to see some of the regular exhibits about the area. And then walked through the gift shop. We're glad we came. It was especially interesting to me because of my tourism background, but anyone residing in the County or new to the area might find it both educational and informative.
