Sinks Canyon is so named because of a rushing river that flows out of the mountains and through the canyon. Halfway down, the river turns (sinks) into a cavern and runs underground for 1/4 mile where it emerges in a pool called "The Rise". In the Rise there are Rainbow and Brown trout; the larger ones may weigh up to 12 lbs, but NO FISHING! For a quarter you can buy fish food to feed the fish, which is fun for everyone. A must-do if you are in the area! Also check out the Visitor Center. It is small, but is one of the best I've seen, and I've seen many. The wildlife is well displayed; and I loved the wildflower displays. The geologic rocks outside the visitor center are also A+. Well done, absolutely 5 stars.

Both my wife and I are extreme novices when it comes to fly fishing and Marcelo was a great teacher and very patient with us both as we fished all day. He guided us to great parts of the river where we were able to get into what seemed like constant fish. We were able to catch some beautiful Snake River cutthroat and my wife caught an impressive cutthroat.
