Mike's Handyman Services

(76 reviews)

I highly recommend Mike. He is extremely versatile in his skill set, very reliable, and…read moreconsistently does quality work. What I value most is that I can depend on him and fully trust him to handle projects properly, especially since I manage the property remotely. He communicates well, follows through on what he says he will do, and gives me confidence that the job will be done right. It's difficult to find someone with that combination of skill, reliability, and trustworthiness.

I hired this handyman to repair a closet shelving system that had pulled away from the wall which…read morewas being used for ordinary clothing storage and was not overloaded beyond normal household use. He assured me that the repair, including the anchors he installed, would support the weight of the clothing and items normally stored in the closet. Unfortunately, only about a week after the repair was completed, the entire system failed again and collapsed. The shelving and clothing ended up on the floor, creating a significant mess and forcing us to empty the closet once more. When I contacted him, he stated that the anchors he installed had held and that the real issue was that I needed an entirely new closet system. However, this was not what I was told when the repair was performed. Had I been advised from the outset that the existing system could not be safely supported or that a replacement was necessary, I would have appreciated that honesty and made a different decision. What is most disappointing is that despite the repair failing after only a week, he refused to return and evaluate the situation without charging an additional service fee. I understand that not every repair is guaranteed forever. However, when a repair fails within days and the customer relied on the handyman's representation that it would support the intended load, I believe standing behind the work and at least reassessing the situation is reasonable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service. **UPDATE: With respect to Mike's response, many of the implications are categorically false, namely, that what is remaining of my closet is still usable and "hanging". The anchors screws, and brackets have bent and are misshaped. He also indicated fixed my toilet for "free" when, in fact, he actually exacerbated the issue and spent no more than a minute looking at the toilet and twisting the float and fill valve. So the contention that he was being generous with his time is unfounded. With respect to the text messages he's alluding to, admittedly, he did indicate he did not warranty his work, but also claimed "I'll also say this, I've never hung any shelving in somebody's called me back later and said that it came down". Moreover, "I can tell you that it's gonna go in with anchors at hold 220 pounds each and there's probably gonna be three or four so outside of that hopefully it lasts a long time". That said, given the estimated weight of the closet was no more than 150 pounds, that was less than 35% of its intended total weight, which should've held it without incident. Moreover, it's only been one week as opposed to two since he performed the job Finally, the mere fact that he wouldn't return to audit the job or two provide structured guidance and repair onsite as a gesture of Goodwill is woefully inadequate.

My second appointment... Twice was just as nice!…read more Folks, I had to take a few moments to, for a second time, describe what a pleasant and positive experience I had, having work done in my home by "On The Wall Audio Video Services". I moved into my new home about 6 months ago and at that time I hired this company to assist me with setting up my internet and televisions. Things could not have gone more smoothly and honestly a more delightful experience I could not have imagined. Well... As it turns out my ability to imagine was perhaps a bit lacking, as I required a second appointment in order to have additional work done in my home and it was again a truly extraordinarily pleasant and proficiently executed experience. I had the unique pleasure of meeting a second technician, Santiago ("Santi" I was informed, as he extended his hand in a warm salutation at my front door). Santi, was truly the sort of fellow that puts one at ease immediately, with his quick smile and a soft-spoken level of confident ease in his work. He fully understood the purpose of my appointment and explained prior to beginning the project, precisely what he would do and what the end result would be... When it comes to having new technology installed in your home, this is the "golden benchmark" you look for when a technician, unknown to you, arrives. His work was accomplished cleanly (highly respecting my home) and in a rather swift fashion. Now here's the thing to really take note of folks, although he precisely accomplished our goal for the day in less time than was expected... He didn't simply just say "thanks" and take off. Santi spent some extra time with me making sure I understood the new technology in my home and was eager to answer any questions I may have had before taking his leave. This sort of attention to detail really makes one feel at ease and comfortable, while alone with new tech after the expert has left. As stated in the beginning of this review, this was my second appointment with "On The Wall Audio Video Services"... I can't imagine a reason to call another company should the need arise. These professionals get the job done, and then some! Highly recommended!

A fella came out and looked at the situation. Inside speakers and outside speakers to connect to the record player. When we got a day set on, a guy came out. Really nice guy who knew his stuff, but didn't know this system. It was literally his first time looking at it. He went at it with confidence and got the speakers set, despite the speaker stands missing. When it got time to program it to use he had to just work his way through it. It took more time to get the speakers to turn on right that the installation. They are top of the line speakers, and a great central system. But with the speaker stand situation and feeling hung out to dry on service, it hurt a little.

I called Paul (the supposed owner and installer), but I never received any response or solution. Very unprofessional. I do not recommend them!

****FYI SAYS VETERAN OWNED BUSINESS... IS NOT***** First off…read morehe uses multiple names, and fake social media profiles... Express Tv and Audio is same as Prosperity Tv Mounting..... I have pictures, and video recording if I can find a way to post I will. I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Prosperity TV Mounting, and it's even more disheartening as I'm a disabled veteran in a wheelchair. It felt like this guy thought he could take advantage of my situation and completely screw me over. The individual they sent to install my TV displayed a shocking level of incompetence. To begin with, he couldn't even properly level the TV, leaving it noticeably crooked and unsightly. Additionally, he attempted to install Govee lights on the back of the TV, but his work was far from professional. He carelessly wrapped the lights around without any attention to detail, creating a chaotic mess that I had to spend extra time fixing. However, the worst part of the ordeal was when he cut a hole in the wall to run wires for a new outlet. In doing so, he accidentally severed a wire that was connected to the lights in my bathroom and closet. When he finally returned to address the issue, he promised to come first thing in the morning but didn't arrive until almost 7 in the evening, leaving me without lights for the entire day. His attempts to overcharge me for materials were particularly infuriating. He claimed to have spent $55 on materials, which supposedly included a drywall patch kit that costs just $13 at Home Depot and a scrap piece of drywall salvaged from another job. He even insisted that he had spent $42 on a sheet of drywall at Lowe's, conveniently lacking a receipt as proof. It was evident that he was trying to take advantage of my situation and rip me off. What exacerbated the situation was that he was supposed to leave spackling for me to complete a second coat and properly finish the job. However, he took it with him when I only gave him $40 and accused me of shortchanging him, then vindictively withheld the spackling. Furthermore, he charged me $120 to cut through two beams to install the new outlet, and then he tacked on an additional fee to repair the damage he caused to the wall. This raised questions about why those repair costs weren't included in the initial $120. When I mentioned that I had recorded him on video stating that the $120 was for materials, he accused me of illegal recording without his permission. I have security cameras in and around my house for safety, and his objection to being recorded was unjustified. Finally, I discovered that he was using a fake Facebook profile to post ads, which only added to the already extensive list of concerns. In conclusion, my experience with Prosperity TV Mounting was a nightmare. As a disabled veteran in a wheelchair, I felt particularly targeted and taken advantage of. This individual's dishonesty, subpar workmanship, and disregard for my well-being were truly disappointing. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this service provider to avoid similar frustrations and headaches.
