I was in so much pain the night before, I mean I cried all night. It didn't help that I am pregnant and wanted to avoid pain medicine as much as possible. I don't normally write reviews, but I really had to for Dr.Stammler. Dr.Stammler, if you're reading this, thank you x a million! While visiting the area, my toddler fell and jammed her two front teeth into her upper gum. Blood everywhere. It was late in the day. I was panicking. I called this practice because it was one of the few open, and was directed to email photos so Dr. Engel could take a look. He called within 10 minutes and talked me off the ledge. He calmly explained the trauma in detail and advised that while nothing could be done immediately because the teeth and gum must heal first, our toddler should have an in-person exam in one week's time. I greatly appreciated Dr. Engel asking questions that showed his expertise and compassion, and for taking his time to reassure this upset parent. If we lived nearby, I would book an appointment with him. Thank you!

I decided to get my amalgam fillings replaced with composites, but I know the importance of doing…read moreit safely, preferably with a biological or holistic dentist. I went to the IAOMT site and also called Dams to get a list of recommended dentists. I did a lot of research over a month-long period, even going to one dentist in Manhattan and calling several others to get a sense of how seriously they treat amalgam replacement. I unfortunately had to eliminate most of the Manhattan dentists (one sounded great but was super expensive and doesn't allow cancellations; the others, frankly, didn't sound too good). I finally decided it was worth the trip to NJ to see Dr. Steinberg. So far that's turned out to be one of my better decisions. He takes *every* precaution in the book when replacing your amalgam fillings--he covers your clothing and face; gives you oxygen; uses a vacuum under your chin to suck away the mercury vapor; exposes only the tooth he is working on; uses suction on the tooth (to further pull away the mercury vapor); uses a rubber dam, etc. He also talks to you about supplements you should take (lots of vitamin C for instance) before and after--he understands that mercury is serious business and he doesn't screw around with it by taking chances with your health or his! I've had only one filling (of six) replaced so far (he works on one quadrant at a time), but so far so good! I go back in a couple of weeks for tooth number two. I'm looking forward to getting this crap out of my mouth, finally! (I asked my conventional dentist about it a couple of years ago and let her talk me out of it, since she said it's more dangerous to remove than just leave in.) Oh, and it turns out the trip to Dr. Steinberg's office in NJ is really short (from Port Authority). Easy breezy--I'm so glad I found and chose him!

I had a filling done by him and he asked if I wanted a silver one or a white one, I chose silver because he said the white was not covered by my insurance. I also asked if there was any difference between the two. He claimed there was none but after I went back a few weeks later complaining of my filling being sensitive to hot and cold he told me "well you should have gotten the white filling." WTF if he had explained that to me before I got it I would have paid for the better filling but he made it seem like there was no difference until there was. I had a highly disappointing experience at this office and will not be returning. I explicitly told…read morethe hygienist that I only wanted a basic teeth cleaning. Instead, the cleaning itself felt completely rushed, skipped essential steps like flossing, and I was never once offered a rinse. To make matters worse, the dentist came in for literally two seconds just to look in my mouth, and I was hit with a $225 bill. On top of the sub-par clinical care, the front office staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional. It feels like this practice prioritizes rushing through patients and maximizing bills rather than delivering quality, thorough patient care. Save your time and money and find an office that actually cares about doing quality work.
