I came into State Street Smiles as an urgent patient that needed a root canal. Dr.Rebecca Stammler took me in without hesitation, even though I am not a regular patient here. I was in so much pain the night before, I mean I cried all night. It didn't help that I am pregnant and wanted to avoid pain medicine as much as possible. In any case, Dr. Stammler gave me a partial root canal and alleviated my pain. She was extremely informative, caring, whimsical and just overall had a positive and light energy to her. Awful experience during and even worst after an appointment for my 3 year old. To preface this review, I will say this was my second appointment, my first one went well as expected and I happily returned for a 2nd appointment. Sometimes it takes another look to realize what you're really dealing with. As a parent you typically expect pediatric Doctors, let alone dentists, to understand the reluctance of a child to race into a chair so he can be poked and prodded. My kid is no different, and silently protested by refusing to get into the chair at my requests and pleading, and I admittedly, tried very carefully not to ruin an experience or scar my kid for future visits (to any dentist) by forcing him into the chair. Dr Eddie Jackson (who was leaving for vacation the next day), didn't seem to have the time to wait for anything or anyone and to my shock and amazement was very patronizing towards my son as if he was some attitude filled teenager child of his own. After finally sitting down on the chair, crying with embarrassment for upsetting people and being tugged and poked in a very hurried and rushed manner, the nightmare appointment ended with a prize box taking the place of a pity gift. After mentioning to the Dr that I was hoping that the appointment went a little differently mentioning I didn't want to traumatize my 3 year old, I was told flat out by Dr Eddie Jackson himself that "if you think this is traumatizing, you're full of yourself". I was speechless mainly because I just did not expect that after clearly a difficult appointment. After discussing this with my husband, he felt as if he needed to hear more and hear the Dr's side of the story. So he called him the following week when the Dr was away on vacation and relayed the message to a very lovely and assuredly sympathetic individual who assured me the message would be relayed. ( Lucky for him he's got great staff) Well weeks and months went by, and no call back came (Dr said he had allegedly tried calling, yet no message or missed calls were received from my end or my husbands phone). Then the e-mail with the 'schedule your next appointment' reminder came, and we were forced to respond to the e-mail saying we would not be re-booking based on a lack of response from the Dr on this issue. Finally, this e-mail stating that we would post my honest reviews of the experience got his attention and then after a few more weeks of phone tag, Dr and my husband finally connected. For full context, the following was my husbands take of the phone call: "From the start of the call the Dr was in defense mode, denying every account of the story and denying he ever said anything that my wife recalled from her visit. I had mentioned that knowing my wife the way I do and any of her co-workers and family would know her to be, she's not one to make up a story let alone one to get me involved with her problems or interactions. That statement alone seemed to make him even more defensive since he just assumed I believed my wife and not his word (call me crazy). He went on and on in an extremely unprofessional manner and at one point throwing his hands up and saying verbatim "what would you like sir, how can I help you? Would you like to hit me, would you like to kick me, would you like to spit on me?". In complete and utter disbelief at his abrasive tone and his way of talking, I was completely turned off from continuing a conversation, but to my own fault we talked for about 15 minutes with nothing being accomplished besides furthering my resolve to never book another appointment with this doctor and sharing my (and my wife's) thoughts with other potential patients. Yes I was upset, yes I was annoyed, however I never raised my voice and I never once thought about any retribution or retaliation to what he disrespectfully urged me to do. As a grown-up, all I wanted personally, was a man-to-man discussion, and a resolution towards a potential 3rd appointment that I personally would attend with my child so I could first hand experience it and say you know what maybe it was just a bad day for everyone involved, we're all prone to those. Instead, there was no sign of remorse or accountability from the Dr on any part of this, with the exception of "sorry if you're wife was too emotionally disturbed by the events to hear me properly". Long story short, I will NOT be booking a third appointment and will be happily discussing this review with anyone who is interested in my opinion on this matter. I fully expect a full defense of this review at some point, but I feel like I've exhausted this topic and just want to move on from it personally. I have no other words to explain this ordeal as this is my absolute first bad experience with the doctors that we've gone to and have personally never felt like he saw me (nor my husband for that matter) as an equal to him in any way! read more

The know very well how to make them feel at ease. They just moved to a new location and the waiting area is lovely for kids and adults alike. From beginning to end, Dr Dina and Eddie Jackson and their crew did whatever they can to make my appointment the most comfortable they possibly can. From coordinating the appointment time with my availability to making making sure I was most comfortable throughout the entire appointment, I think its fair to say that thinking about dental work no longer gives me the same anxiety that it used to. Terrific staff, technologically advanced and spotless facilities overall. This place is a dream. Unfortunately, the finance team wasn't transparent with insurance issues. They're out of my network and I was never told upfront; resulting in the loss insurance money by still being charged for services despite not continuing treatment for my multiple children. Do your insurance homework thoroughly before going here unless you're not concerned with spending thousands out of pocket (and losing precious time). You could easily be blinded by the beautiful offices and friendly staff (as I was!). read more

DO NOT GO THERE Husband and wife team, husband sees kids, wife sees adults, I figured he was seeing my kids it was perfect to have his wife see me...well she did a new crown...screwed it in wrong, now I've had an infection on bottom of my root canal for over a year and when I went to a different dentist they suggested I take it out...yes I lost my molar because of the crappy job she did, not only I'm in excruciating pain but it's going to cost me a few thousand's just to have this crown, removed and treated because this "silent infection" traveled to my bone....she should lose her license!!! read more

Dr. Eddie is amazing! My son was born with a lip tie and tongue tie, which had to be lasered twice. He made me feel so at ease and was able to calm my son down easily. The process is very fast and easy. Dr. Eddie even gave me his personal cell phone number for me to text him pictures of my sons tongue or questions about his tongue to make sure we were doing everything we were suppose to for the aftercare. My children have been going to State Street smiles since 2011. They are always on schedule with their appointments, and never make you wait. Tracey, the hygienist my children see is awesome, they love her. In fact all of their staff is friendly. Even though I moved a few years ago and there are lots of pediatric dentists closer, I wouldn't even consider switching - and make the 15+mile ride there. I have been bringing my toddler daughter here for her check ups for a year now, since she turned 1. Dr. Eddie came highly recommended by our pediatrician. I was super nervous to bring my little baby in to the dentist for the first time, but the staff is great especially the hygienists who have taken great care of my little one. They are patient, loving, funny, gentle, and quick...which is the perfect protocol for a toddler. They make the whole experience as quick and painless as possible. Everyone is warm and friendly and so conscientious about how we may feel as either patients or parents I just finished today with my 19 month old. Who did scream. We wanted so much to like this dentist for our kids. My young daughter needed her "baby" canine teeth removed in order to proceed with orthodontic work. After the exam, and upon making the appointment for the extractions, the dentist himself told us not to worry, my daughter would get "laughing gas" to take the edge off ... this was a relief to hear. The day before the appointment, when they called to confirm, I asked if she'd be receiving the "laughing gas", so that I could reassure my daughter she wouldn't feel much of anything. They said, "Of course she will get it!" This made my little girl less apprehensive about the procedure. So, as the dentist prepares for the extractions, he injects two needles in the thin gum over her canine teeth, then abruptly yanks the teeth out, as blood is running down and my daughter is sitting there crying out ... he never used "laughing gas." I try to comfort her, saying "It's OK" -- meanwhile, I'm in shock that they lied about giving her the gas -- and this dentist has the nerve to turn to me and say, "Mommy's making it worse", in a sing-song voice. I was floored. My husband wanted to go back and confront this "pediatric dentist". DO NOT GO TO STATE STREET SMILES! It still burns me up to this day, thinking about it, and the fact that I was so taken aback that I barely said a word as this was happening. read more

I just recently had a crown put on there with the wife of the team, Dina Jackson. And I have to say so far I am super impressed. She explained everything to me in detail, her hygenist was extremely pleasant and I am very satisfied. She took extreme care in matching the crown with my other teeth and did not rush any part of the process. I moved here from Ohio about a year ago and was worried about finding a nice, friendly dentist in the Northeast and feel confident in my choice. Also, before my crown could be put in I had broken the partial and they only charged me what the lab charged.....HUGE savings. Plus, when I broke the partial one of the dentists saw me the day after Thanksgiving to fix it until the lab could have new one on Monday. They were not open and went out of their way to help me. I am, again, very pleased with State Street Smiles. And their staff...very nice and helpful. read more
