RUN, don't walk, away from this practice. I had been a patient of Dr. Makhoul's for many years and decided to stay when he retired. After an initial first cleaning with Dr. Hosseini, she seemed nice and her office staff friendly, but the hygienist was SO rough I had a headache all day after. 6 months later I went back for my regular cleaning, another very rough one, and was told I had two cavities that needed to be filled immediately. Interesting, since just 6 months ago I had a clean bill of tooth health and have only had 1 cavity in my entire life about 30 years ago. I chose to leave the practice and find another dentist, who I just saw for a cleaning and was impressed how healthy my teeth and mouth were, and confirmed I had NO CAVITIES. So beware, Dr Hosseini is scamming you to make a buck. read more

I had pain in my left upper jaw and was in desperate need for dental attention. I tried to look for dentists in Queens unfortunately I wasn't able to find one who worked on a Saturday. I decided to come home and visit a dentist in NJ. Of course I looked up dentists on yelp and found Dr.Hosseini. Amy, office manager was very nice when she was taking my appointment and squeezed me in on a Saturday when she learned I was in pain. Dr. Hosseini is a lovely woman, very personable. I explained to her where my pain was felt and she started her assessment. Her staff member I believe her name was Gabriel did my X-rays and Andria did my cleaning. Even though my appointment was strictly for tooth pain consult the staff was generous enough to take me in for a cleaning so my teeth can look pretty for my friend's wedding tomorrow. A couple of years ago I landed my first teaching gig and with it came a Delta dental insurance policy. After consulting several reviews of local dentists, I remained unsatisfied by my findings. One day my daughter brought an announcement home from her school entitled "Give Kids A Smile", a program launched by the ADA. Doctor Hosseini is listed on the form and her reviews looked very good - the reviews were right on the mark! It can be challenging to schedule family dental appointments, especially when there is a need to get more than one person in the dental chair per visit. This isn't a problem with Dr. Hosseini's staff. If you miss an appointment, the staff is ready and willing to reschedule at your convenience. If you forget to reschedule, they'll follow-up via email or phone. Did you forget to contact them? No problem - they'll contact you if someone else cancels with the time that you need, and they'll text, so you get notified faster. I love that! This year we brought our 10 and 2 year old girls for their summer check-up/cleaning and were totally blown away. This is the best dental office to bring your children. I have never seen my 2 year-old more cooperative with a doctor than in this office; she can be extremely difficult in any examination, but the hygienist in this office (wishing I got her name) was fantastic. My toddler was excited and totally willing to allow the hygienist to perform a dental prophylaxis (teeth cleaning) without any problems whatsoever. My teaching contract ended in June, and benefits expire in a couple of weeks; however, I am interested in Dr. Hosseini's discount plan(s) to continue dental care for my family. I am really not sure how this dentist has such high reviews. I stopped going to Dr. Hosseini for multiple reasons. Each time that I went she had a different hygienist working and doing the cleanings. She took over the practice from another dentist and got rid of the hygienist that was previously there, who I felt did a good job with cleanings. At my last and final visit, the hygienist that I had provided me with a very uncomfortable cleaning experience. After switching to a new dentist, I discovered that she had drilled too far into one of my teeth when she was filling in one of my cavities and may have improperly filled each of my cavities. This woman may come across as sincere when she meets you but she does not have your best interest at heart. read more

I brought my 85 yr old Dad here for an emergency and Dr. Hosseini fit us in right away! She has all the modern equipment so was able to identify the problem quickly and starting working on my dad immediately. She was a Navy dentist so is very skilled in this profession. She it thoughtful and thorough. And, the follow up between her and her staff was impressive! She runs a very concerned and caring dentist office. She even met us for one of the follow up visits to adjust his dentures on her day off! (instead of having him wait a few more days!) She went above and beyond! My dad received EXCELLENT Care! From the Dr. and her staff! Lanni, her office manager is on the ball and very knowledgeable. One more note: She's very kind and personable and greets all of her patients with "hello... thank you for coming" which I think is a nice business practice! Who likes going to the dentist? You will! Dr. Hosseini and her entire staff are top notch. Everyone is professional, yet so friendly. I just completed extensive dental work and it was actually a pleasure going there. I was never uncomfortable, or in pain. Dr. Hosseini explained every procedure to me so that I fully understood what my treatment plan was. The assistants, office staff, and hygienists are fabulous. A little kindness goes a long way. Dr. Hosseini has been my primary dentist for more than 5 years now. She is passionate about her work and making patients life better. Along with having a great dentistry skills she is also very warm and caring for patients which I hardly find in any other doctors. I don't really review businesses other than restaurants and retail stores unless they are outstanding, and this is one of them. As a sweets addict, having a good dentist is so essential to my Yelpy well-being. Dr. Hosseini took over Dr. Avedikian's clinic in the beginning of this year after his retirement and I'm very impressed with her dental service so far. I heard Dr. Avedikian has painstakingly chosen her from dozens of dentists he had been interviewing to make sure his successor shares the same principles and sincerity, not like those greedy business-minded dentists who care more about money than patients. I see the same spirit and concern in Dr. Hosseini that Dr.Avedikian had, she's so professional, gentle, informative, very friendly and approachable. I heard she graduated from Tufts and has worked in the Navy Dental Corps and received a letter from the US President for her dental service in the military. She takes personal interest in each patient and gives patients options and thoroughly explains the procedure and is not pushy at all. I have to disagree with Amy H's review. I also was a long time patient of Dr. Avedikian, almost 15 years and I did like him very much. My experience with Dr. Hosseini and her staff has been nothing but pleasant. They are warm, caring, and professional. I find she is very conservative with her treatments and has never suggested anything that wasn't necessary. My husband and son also go to her and we have never felt they were "uptight". If anything they were very accommodating to my husband's work schedule when he needed a crown. Dr. Hosseini and her staff are very personable and always treat my family with kindness and courtesy. Conscientious, thorough, gentle, caring, but most of all, Dr. Hosseini is professional. The office is antiseptically clean, technically modernized, appropriately efficient, and easily accessible. Few enjoy going to the dentist (as they say, "Ignore your teeth and they'll go away.") but Dr. Hosseini makes your visit more than tolerable, and assures you that as you leave you'll actually feel better than going in. I've been to too many dentists where only the opposite was true! And, even more importantly, NO UPSELLING! That is the prime reason I left my previous dentist's office. I felt more like a customer than a patient. (Not quite sure what kind of experiences Amy H. or Barbara V. had, but they should at the very least allow Dr. Hosseini's office to address their concerns on a return visit. Dr. Zahra and her staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Dr. Zahra was able to very easily succeed where another dentist had not in removing a stubborn stain off of one of my front teeth where my veneer is bonded. Due to different jobs, I've moved around a lot, which means always having to find new doctors/dentists. I can say without a doubt, Dr. Hosseini is the best dentist I've EVER been to! Everyone in the office is so kind, professional, and super helpful--going above and beyond on numerous occasions when it comes to their customer service. LOVE them! Dr. Hosseini and staff always take the time to answer my handful of questions and fully explain all treatment options. You never feel rushed and they always make sure you are comfortable. I have a lot of respect for Dr. Hosseini; she's extremely knowledgeable, respectful, gentle, and not pushy like some other dentists, who try to tell you (i.e., charge you) for expensive procedures you don't need. All my scheduling is always accommodated. Dr. Hosseini treats me and my son as if we are family. Following the treatment plan has put my teeth to the best health and I haven't had a cavity since. I didn't know people reviewed dentists on here until I was searching for Dr. Hosseini's credentials, and saw the link! I've only been treated there for two visits since Dr. Avedikian retired. I was very happy with the dental care i received from her, but I'm uncomfortable with the office now. It used to be a small intimate practice, where they knew you, your family, your history, etc. There were different receptionists on each visit. I'm not sure why there's an additional office manager guy, plus another clerical type person. They've also added a dental assistant. this is in addition to the dentist and hygienist. The hygienist is the only link to the former practice left. I'm not sure how it grew to needing so many people. Are they going to add dentists, otherwise why would they need all this support staff? I'm not sure if I want to be in a group practice for my dentist. The office used to run well. At least, from the outside view, it seemed fine. I guess no one likes things they're used to to change, but this really changed a lot. I was happy with the dental care I received, not a complaint there, just didn't like the current billing way, or the uneasy feeling about what the office plans are. I guess if they do expand, we'll get another letter in the mail. I'm hanging in there for a few more visits, I've been going there for a decade, but for former patients, it's just really different. read more

Dr. Hosseini is one of the best dentists I've ever been to in America. I had a tooth filled by her 3 years ago that is still holding up strongly. She makes time for emergency appointments. She does not over prescribe treatment and only does what is necessary to help. She has the latest technology like digital x-rays and video cameras so she can quickly see the problem. I found Dr Husseni's diagnosis in accurate and unclear, and over priced. I was told I had a cavity, when all I had was a stain on my tooth. Dr Husseni told my son he had 8 cavities, but when he went to another dentist he only had 1. And the office manager is rude and unprofessional. I do not recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

I had been seeing Dr. Avedikian since my first dental visit as a toddler. Once Dr. Hosseini took over, the practice changed. It went from a very laid back family oriented practice, to an uptight. I always felt like I was being pushed the get procedures I didn't need, and were not covered by my insurance. Now, I find out that Kate is no longer with the practice. She was the only reason I was still going. With Kate gone, the practice has lost all of it's draw to not only me, but many other patients. I would not recommend this practice. read more

She's bright, personable, curious, informative and always looks out for what's in my best interest. Dr. Zhara is amazing. Her entire staff is amazing. They are patient, thorough, and very friendly. I was so grateful that we found a practice that was so very kid friendly. My son had to have his two baby teeth pulled after he knocked them loose playing; six months later he fell on his two new adult teeth and bruised his gums. They saw us the same day with no wait. He was able to get X-rayed and Dr. Zhara was so compassionate. She took two potentially life altering dental experiences and made them no more than a regular visit for my young and impressionable child. They were so amazing with the kids that I had my cleaning done there and the assistant did an amazing job. I was a patient of Dr Avedikien for 20 years. When he retired Dr Hosseini took over his business. The office manager there is rude and demeaning. I find them VERY overpriced and they push procedures such as teeth whitening ( $900 in office and $450 to have a tray made and take home). The also insist on xrays every 6 months and if you don't want xrays the office manager gets VERY nasty. She spoke to me like she was scolding a child. I have some health issues and need to stay away from excessive xrays. When I told her the reason for my concern, she got very angry and went storming out to get a wavier for me to sign. I have never encountered this in my entire life. I have opted out of xrays before and not once did I have to sign a wavier. I asked to speak with Dr Hosseini to discuss if the xrays were really necessary (my molars have crowns so only my front teeth would show anything on the xrays). The office manager got very angry and said " I brought you the wavier just sign it " I again asked to speak with the Dr and she told me to leave. DO NOT GO HERE. Even Dr Avedikiens office manager and hygienist left. I called an oral surgeon that Dr Avedikien sent me to to get a referral to another dentist and was told that they have heard a lot of complaints. Not only are they overpriced, they push for unnecessary procedures and if you dare question them you get spoken to very rudely. I found the treatment I received from Dr. Hosseini to be spectacular. I found her to be pleasant and very competent. Frankly it was a breath of fresh air compared to the terrible treatment I received from Lainie, the office manager. I had a severe allergic reaction and was advised to reschedule my dentist appointment as per my allergist's advisement. When I called the office, not only could I barely hear Lainie speaking on the phone, she was very rude to me. She sounded disinterested and like my business there did not matter. She implied that if their schedule did not work for me, I should just take my business elsewhere. I miss the way the office used to run. Everyone was pleasant and they were so willing to accommodate. The hygienist that worked there before was always very pleasant and very willing to answer all my questions. Every time I call to make an appointment with her Lainie tells me she has no time available, which is strange because whenever I am in the office I never see her. She was really the only reason I stayed with the practice, but honestly if I have to keep dealing with this, I am taking my business elsewhere.
