Very easy going and professional atmosphere with just the right amount of humor. (I mean, how funny can talking about your teeth really be?) From my initial appointment (cleaning/x-rays/whitening) through my replacement crown and filling, I was treated with respect and experienced superior customer service. The office is very clean and tidy and the staff is friendly and there to help. My insurance options were clearly explained before any procedures were completed so I could make an educated decision and form my "treatment plan" WITH Dr. Cai. (I've always been told what to do. I've never had the opportunity to create my plan/help decide the next course of action.) Overall, every experience I've had with Dr. Cai and crew has been great. I strongly recommend Blackhawk Dental to anyone who wants to enjoy going to the dentist! (I'm a needle-phobe too. Dr. Cai is skilled in this area. I didn't even feel it!) I am continuing treatment there and plan on getting a brand new veneer smile with them in the future!

My family has entrusted our dental care to the Porteous family for almost 20 years…read more While their dental offices appear rather outdated and while their dental practices also seem "old school" (booking systems, X-ray film, rough hand scaling), we've stuck around mainly out of loyalty. However, a recent social media post by their son Dr Lance Porteous revealed a political leaning regarding immigrants that seems to indicate that their practice is not a place of welcome for those of us who are migrants to the US. This is unacceptable especially for a dental professional entrusted with a basic level of moral and ethical care and concern. Thus, we have decided to move on and invite this family to consider whether practicing in a profession dedicated to care is really appropriate for them. For over 12 years Dr. Jin and her staff have provided top-of-the-line dental health for me. After…read moremy long-time dentist retired, I gave 3-4 different dentists a chance but they all proved untrustworthy (e.g. telling me I needed expensive procedures I knew I did not need) and/or were ill equipped (e.g. rundown offices with out-of-date equipment). Good luck it was finding Dr. Jin, whose offices and equipment are always state-of-the-art! For example, at the start of the pandemic, she quickly acquired the latest health-safety equipment that enabled her to continue serving her patients without hazard. Her office and its location comes close to "luxurious," as well as just simply lovely, comfortable and convenient (easy access from HWY 680 in San Ramon, fairly near Costco, etc.) For all this, one might anticipate top-of-the-line billing, but no, compared to charges from other dentists dating from 10 years ago, not unreasonable. Especially, considering all the extra expenses I would be paying for the unnecessary procedures that had been proposed - and on one occasion "demanded" if I were to become a patient. I recently dropped my retired-teacher dental insurance and am now on self-pay, which turns out to be cheaper, even given a new crown looming in the future. The courtesy and sincere interest the entire staff shares with you reinforce the comfortable feelings you feel the first time you step into the building itself, even before reaching the office. And an extra plus: highly skilled hygienists...Tiffany, for one, is the best ever ! That being said, all in all, trust is the best feature of Dr. Jin's service -- she trusts you and will work with you to meet your situation and needs. And you can definitely trust her !

I was told I needed a crown from another dentist but she was able to fix it with just a quick filling. She was compassionate about my worries, and my filling ended up being 100% painless.
