Step back in time when you enter this old store! The walls are covered from floor to ceiling with all kinds of memorabilia, old signs and vintage items like an old antique store. The old style display cases are chock full of things to tempt you from candy to games and funny items. There are so many things here you will have a hard time not finding something to buy! The store, while very well stocked is neat and clean. There are several rooms, the main room and 3 smaller rooms in the back and all full of things to look at. There is an old time ice cream bar with vintage barstools and serving Blue Bell ice cream. There is an old pick up truck out front, probably from the early 50's which makes the store easy to find. We ended up buying several things, some funny signs to hang on our patio by the pool and some classic old style candy like they used to sell in general stores from long ago. Be sure not to miss this old gem of a store when you visit Jefferson! The staff is super friendly.

Jefferson General Store Step back in time to this wonderful general store in the heart of Jefferson. It is a mix of eclectic and traditional goods. It has a Blue Bell ice cream counter, and a home made candy counter. Plenty of t shirts, as well as packaged food items and novelties, too! Don't miss this when in Jefferson.

A must visit if you can only pass through. A step back in time. Very nostalgic but has modern items too. Sweet tooth? They have it all. Fun for the eyes as well as the belly. Gifts and favorites. Easy to find, walk to or park and you cant miss it.,

Not really what I was expecting- not much "general" in the general store. Mostly a giant candy store, with some pretty cool nostalgic candies, and an old time soda fountain. Which is also kinda cool, but still not much more than that. About those Moody Dogs. A pretty good chili dog, but I am not sure how it got "famous." It's just a chili dog. If you have a love affair with chili dogs like my wife does, well then you should get one. For me, it's just another chili dog (kept warm in a crock pot :(. But hey, the the antique stores and other cool places in town are worth a visit. Oh, and a good ol' fashioned Neapolitan Coconut Slice is also worth it :)

I'm not sure how long this store had been around, or how many proprietor's it's had. Never the less, it's a very old building and the paint is faded and peeling on the store front. The wood floors are original and patched with car license plates in a couple of areas, but add to the charisma of the place. They have an old time soda and Ice Cream fountain. They have a little old everything in this place, cups, shot glasses, t-shirts, hats, purses, seasonings, toys, games, and the list goes on! There is just so much stuff to look at here, even the walls are covered in old things that are really near to look at.

This is the cutest store. They have lots of fun items, old style sodas, candy, fun gift ideas and blue bell ice cream. Staff is very helpful and friendly and it's one of the only places that stays open past 8 in town! We visited it many times on our trip and even bought a tee shirt!

This store is solely for the purpose of novelty and tourism, but it personifies classic Americana and vintage nostalgia. It's so charming and authentic, you have to stop in for the experience. Order yourself a 5 cent coffee, that took me to a time before my parents were born. All this place was missing was a couple of hot greasers. Love it!

For any tourist, this is a must! It's such a colorful store, full of candies, toys, souvenirs, and plenty of other things that says 'hey! I went to Jefferson.'

Some really sweet mounts on the walls here. Loved the vintage tins, decoys, boxes, etc.

I love this store. When I come to visit family this is the one place we must go. They have such a variety. Something for everyone.

This is a tourist trap and the staff acted as though they didn't want to be bothered. Skip this place unless you just have money to waste.

Ask the Community - Jefferson Texas General Store

Do they do mail order? When there two years ago, we tried to buy the whole store, but had to leave precious things back. carol jensen

I walked over this morning and asked. The answer is yes! They gave me a flier with the website on it and said you can use that or call the store if you need something you can't find on the website. It is www.jeffersongeneralstore.com.

The Moody Dog is a chili dog not unlike most others and the frito pie is a nice touch by serving it in the Frito bag....

The absolute cutest candy, gift and sweetshop right on the middle of town!…read more You are welcomed the moment you walk in, like walking in and they know you and love that you are here. We went straight to the back of the shop to watch the production kitchen where the gentleman was actually starting a process (what we learned later) of brittle making. Intrigued, and so satisfying to watch. They have free samples peanut brittle and pecan brittle. We both agree that this is some of the best. It's not the "bust you tooth" brittle (meant your candy got too hot), it's the airy, nice crunch, full of flavor, not too sweet, hint of burnt butter brittle. Yes, yes! They nailed it. It's the brittle you start to eat, and boom the package is done. Of course we had to get brittle, and white chocolate covered nuts, too. They sell a variety of sliced pies, milkshakes and cold drinks. I bet this is the place I will be in the summer, especially for ice cream. Their storefront has not been open long, but Grandma Cleda's been making brittle for generations. You can find out more about their story when you visit their shop. Two things they do amazing: they love what they do, and do what they love! Oh and they have fabulous brittle! Love in every bite.

Love the ice cream here! The pie is really good too! Friendly owners and staff too! We try and stop…read moreevery time we drive through Mineola!
