It was pretty busy and lots of people parking in front on the entry way to do book returns, I guess. The library was bright and clean inside. I just went and looked for a book, found what I needed, and did self-checkout. On my way out I noticed a table with diapers, spices, and paw paws. I wasn't sure what it was about, but I went back to the desk and asked the lady at the counter. The spices and the paw paws were free for the taking. I am not really familiar with Garam Masala, and it was a little packet stapled to pages with history, information, and recipes. So cool! I had also never tasted a paw paw before so I took one of those, too. Their sign indicated they were best eaten same day so I tried it when I got home, it was really good. I will have to see if my regular library has something like this.

There are plenty of computers to book for one or more hours, cubicles to sit and work at, also quiet rooms if you need privacy. There are rooms one can book for meetings or gatherings, complete with whiteboards, projectors, and hdmi cords for viewing. There are other libraries that have multiple floors with kids sections and tech rooms. This location has everything on one floor.

The Lady behind the counter, who I watched waiting on 2-different clients at the same time. She kept them both busy, I was amazed how she kept this up almost non stop Her name was Veronica and she should be commended on her work ethics. Veronica gave me a telephone number to call verify in Jefferson city, they in turn asked me to have her call the HELP DESK. She did so and made the Transfer, after I received the new Title a week later. Veronica apologized to me and told me that she had be taught that couldn't be done. She is a valuable employee and sold be recognized as such. I'm sure she will pass this information on to others in the office. Thank-you Veronica, Mike P.

Sandy Creek Covered Bridge is in excellent condition and while it has been closed to vehicle traffic, you can still walk across it. The bridge is the centerpiece of this park which includes parking, picnic tables, primitive bathrooms and lots of captions with historical information. As one would expect, there's a lot of history of this bridge! This is one of four covered bridges…read morefrom the 19th century still standing in Missouri. However, it has been rebuilt, redone and repaired in various years. But Missouri lawmakers and residents see no reason to tear this one down, as it shows a lot of importance. This bridge was used to connect St. Louis and Hillsboro (MO). Oddly enough, Lemay Ferry Road, which is prominent in South County, once extended all the way to this park. The bridge is in very fine condition. I have visited four old covered bridges (a couple were restored) in Illinois and all of them have graffiti and at least some sort of vandalism on them (no exaggeration, sadly). This one looks untouched, and I hope it stays that way. Anyone can walk through the bridge, and even under it! As for the park, it is a bit tricky to get to, but there is a decent-sized parking lot and park there. Restrooms are available as well as picnic benches. There's even historical markers at the site that talk about the history of Missouri's covered bridges. Plenty of space to walk your dog. There are some nature trails - one that leads past the bridge (to somewhere?). Summer or any day with great weather is a perfect day to come out here. It is part of Missouri's State Park system so check it out! Winter? I'm not so sure...maybe for photographers when it snows.

Me included…read more My DL expired a few months ago, and I dreaded going as I needed to take the Rules of the Road Test... or at least that was what I was told... Went n a Friday morning.... Nit a long wait at all.... I just needed to do the Vision Test!!! Yeah!!! But my rep that helped me, Amy.. could not have been more helpful and pleasant!!! Getting told I don't look my age made my day!!!! Great Experience!!!

Brought mom in to renew her license, when we walked in, the place was clean and somewhat busy. Within about 15 minutes, she and mom were on their way to the vehicle to start the driving test, after about 10 minutes they returned, mom passed a temp card was issued and we were on our way. Great experience all the way around. We all need to go to the DMV, patience and understanding is needed, along with all proper doc's.

To my surprise, I received a call back within an hour from Tara Garrow. Not only was she helpful, but she answered all questions I had! It is often said that you can tell if someone is smiling over the phone when they speak..... well she was smiling and was one of the most helpful and pleasant young ladies I have spoken to in quite some time. When I received a call about scheduling the vaccine, I had the pleasure of speaking wiht Ms. Garrow for a second time. Let me say she was just as pleasant and helpful as she was initially. This is a cute little library tucked into the heart of Pacific. They also have a small outdoor children's area for when weather is nice. The librarians are so nice and always willing to help. The selection of books is pretty good, but you can always ask if they don't have what you're looking for and they'll help you get it!

This past weekend was the 45th annual Rendzevous at the Fort. This is a two day event at the fort…read more The hours are 10-5. They have gun demonstrations, flag raising and lowering ceremonies, people dress in period costumes. It costs $5 per car (what super cheap right) to park and you can walk back in time. We walk up to watch a juggling demonstration, they bring kids and adults from the crowd to get everyone excited. Yes, you get to see men waking around in buckskin and French and British soldiers. You can buy buttons made from bones, a fox hide or a buffalo burger. This is held every year on the first weekend in June. After a fun day at the fort Prairie du Rocher has food stands and you can stop and watch the parade at 6 o'clock. If you are wanting to get out of the city and see learn a little history, this is the place.
