He walked us through every step and even got us the lowest interest rate we could get. Hal is an honest and genuine person who I am lucky to have met and I cannot thank him enough for helping us get our first home! We are a single income, self-employed family, and had been trying for several years to get qualified to buy, but were unable to find a program tailored to our unique circumstances. When my wife and I were looking for our new home, I wasn't sure who I'd ask for the loan. In the…read morepast, I haven't been too excited about the loan officers I worked with on a purchase/refi, as they seemed very "salesy" or like they were in a rush and didn't want to make time for me. I was recommended to David at CMG Mortgage by a co-worker who had glowing praise for him, so I decided to give him a call. Right from the start, David was friendly and professional and patient to answer all of my questions, even though I was probably a little demanding or seemed skeptical of the whole deal, based on my past experiences with loan officers. He put me at ease through the stressful process and was very responsive. He would tell us what information/documentation we'd need to make everything go smoothly. Our home buying process was stretched out over about five months, with us putting several offers on houses before finally being accepted. David was always reassuring and had some great ideas for us in a situation with an extended close of escrow so that we could be assured of the best rate possible. When we finally did get our offer accepted, everything went without a hitch. Through the whole home buying process, David was in contact with our realtor to make sure that no ball got dropped. He walked me through all the documents and even was able to be at our signing, which was an added bonus! He was even able to explain a concept to the title company officer that no other loan officer had explained to her before, demonstrating again his level of expertise in his field. I'd definitely use David again for a purchase or refi and I can recommend him without hesitation! If you're looking for a mortgage or refi, give him a call!

Based on his numerous good reviews, I messaged Stephen early last August about the possibility of…read moregetting a United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) 15-year fixed home loan at 1.99%. This was a new program announced by press release, which I read about in a Yahoo! Finance article, through a link on Google News. Having worked previously in real estate and finance, I knew what the key points were to our situation, so I included those in the message to Stephen, asking whether he would be able to do the loan. Stephen responded abruptly by saying that he would have to talk with me by phone, to discuss "details." After I called him, he proceeded to try to browbeat me into accepting a different program at a higher interest rate. His approach was to use old-fashioned psychological pressure tactics, along the lines of: "Are you so naïve that you think you could actually get such a loan? That rate is just a teaser that you would never actually get." He was crude, demeaning and even insulting. I informed him, politely, that I had a background in real estate and finance, so I was not naïve about these things, offering him one last chance to do business with us, if he was so inclined. But he insisted that the loan would not be possible for us, so I thanked him and said goodbye. Shortly thereafter, I found a straightforward loan broker who in fact did the loan for us, on exactly the terms I had in mind: 1.99% 15-year fixed, with a reasonable fee. We closed in less than three weeks and none of the things that Stephen said were obstacles turned out to be an issue. I am pleased to report that my wife and I are now enjoying substantially lower monthly payments. BOTTOM LINE: If you want someone with an "old-school" approach to sales--involving psychological games, pressure tactics and absence of transparency (resulting in your not getting the best deal that you could)--Stephen Wong may be a good fit for you. Anyone interested in connecting with the straightforward broker we ultimately used is welcome to send me a private message, as I'm not allowed to include that information in my review.

My experience has been mediocre with this loan agent and US Bank. I have done at least a dozen of…read morereal estate refinancings with different loan agents over the years, so I am familiar with the process. 1. The refinancing process was a little chaotic, and some departments in the bank were slow to move files despite borrower's multiple warnings of deadlines to the loan agent, so the loan did not close on time, which caused significant complications and expenses due to borrower's upcoming overseas traveling. 2. The loan agent promised a processing fee refund after loan closing, but he refused to honor it later. The borrower had to escalate the issue with his supervisor to get the fee refund. 3. Several months after loan closing, the title company told me they are still missing various signatures and notary acknowledgment pages for loan closing and they had to make an appointment with me to redo these pages. There seem to be many gaps in their refiancing operations.
