I work as a ramp agent at DAL Love Field. And for anyone that doesn't know, this job requires heavy lifting (20-70 lbs sometimes over your head and team lifts of freight up to 500lbs) , bending, squatting, kneeling, you name it!! Obviously over time this exerts plenty of wear and tear on the body. Lifting incorrectly can cause anything from sprains to dislocations to slipped disks!! I had asked around for any recommendations on chiropractors in the area. Due to shoulder pain that I had started to feel worse overtime. My cousin in Austin told me to check out Dr. Echols, he saw him regularly and had nothing but great things to say about him. So I thought what the heck and scheduled an appointment. I didn't think anything serious was wrong with my shoulder, just thought I had a strain and that it would go away after a while, but no! So I had a visit with Dr. Echols and to my surprise he had found a muscle that was deactivated in my shoulder. Get this, the root of the problem was in my lower back! Something I wouldn't even begin to think was causing pain in my shoulder! After a couple of adjustments the range of motion was back and my pain was gone!! Thanks Dr. Echols!! My daughter had fallen on her back in 2001 during a drill team dance routine. I immediately took her to a back doctor who prescribed physical therapy to strengthen her abdomen muscles. I wasn't sure about this working since I felt her abs were in great shape with all her drill team exercise for 2 years. Sure enough that did not help and after 2 more years had passed with still recurring back pain, I asked my pediatrician for a reference to a chiropractor. Of course, he recommended Dr. Echols and we have been going to him ever since. My daughter had some immediate relief from her back pain on her first visit and it kept improving after subsequent visits. With periodic adjustments, she can remain pain free. I read the reviews of Dr. Echols below, especially Mr. Polecat who sounded a little far fetched. It's interesting that he doesn't give anything in Austin a good review... Well here is what I can tell you...I have been coming to Dr. Echols since I came to this lovely city to live back in 1999. Dr. Echols is the only Chiropractor that could help me and relieve me of pain and discomfort in my upper and lower back. Understand, I was hit by a school bus in my jeep from behind, I have minor scoliosis in my back since birth and sustained injuries from a motorcycle accident. I would say I am a candidate for chiroptactic services. In our last appointment, he did explained the technique of muscular response to "check for imbalances in the body". I know that it works because before the adjustment I only had a limited range of motion in my right arm due to the pain I was in. Afterwards, I had the full range of motion and the pain was gone. Now I'm no brain surgeon but 2+2=4 Dr. Echols is a great person and great Chiropractor, I would take anyone in my family to go see him and would tell anyone in pain to at least get a consultation and see for yourself. There have been several times in the past couple of years that I have had back pain so excruciating that it leaves me unable to walk, sit, or even lay down, without leaving me in tears. I had been to a few local chiropractors who had done adjustments that hadn't helped for more than a day and most of them recommended steroid injections in my spine to alleviate pain. I was recommended by a family member to make a trip to see Dr. Echols, and I can tell you in all honesty that he is now the only Chiropractor that I will schedule with! He checked me out and almost immediately identified that one of my lower vertebrae was out of place and pinching my sciatic nerve. Dr. Echols has been unfailingly kind, compassionate, incredibly knowledgable and intuitive, and has gone out of his way to be as therapeutically helpful as possible. My fitness app tells me every week that I've set another personal record! Dr. Echols is an absolute God send to me. I suffered from bi weekly migraine headaches that took me out of commission. I met him at the Gorilla Run in Austin in 2010 and have been going to regularly ever since. He put me on a treatment plan to get my adjustments done often enough to fix my chronic issues with my migraines and got my diet in line with his nutrition treatment. Started seeing Dr. Echols for a hip flexor that had regularly flaired up every couple weeks for the past 3-4 years. I had visited another chiropractor who actually made things worse by overstretching me. Dr. Echols diagnosed that it was my pelvis that was out of alignment causing the regular hip flexor strains.
