He's the best dentist I've ever been too, hands down, and the biggest proof of this is that I go in for three cleanings a year. Dental hygienist Trina is without peer in her cleanings, using a very gentle touch, a small amount of water, and great care. I now request her for each of my 3 yearly visits. Dr Katz fixed all of my outstanding issues - and I had a lot of them -- and I always felt myself to be in extremely competent hands, with great care, attention, and skill. I know that I'm in superb hands whenever I walk into Dr. Baliwas' office. Dr. Baliwas is currently out of my network (which means that I have to pay up front - but I often get reimbursed accordingly by my insurance later)- but he's worth it. His attention to detail is inspiring. When you go into his office - you get his full attention. And even before going into his office - him and his staff are exceptional at answering any pressing concerns or questions one may have - through E-mail. During this pandemic - Dr. Baliwas and his staff have made sure that their downtown office is as safe as possible. Every one of their staff members is well prepared with a mask and they also make sure that anyone entering the office is wearing one as well. In addition they have efficient air filters in the office and require that patients fill in a brief questionnaire they day before the appointment. The day of the appointment they take your temperature at the door (and additionally before you sit down in the dentist chair), have you wash your hands thoroughly, and have you rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide. I felt exceptionally safe throughout my recent time here. As I said in my previous review - you can't put a price on your oral health. I decided to see Dr. Rabanus for a consultation after seeing his glowing reviews here. Consultation: The consultation was straightforward. He explained my case difficulties in a very straightforward, matter-of-fact manner. He felt confident he could dramatically improve my smile. He also suggested some additional lower veneers, which I agreed with. It was clear he knew what he was talking about, and showed me photos from other cases to give me additional confidence in my decision. I was IN. The Process: The procedures themselves were straightforward. First session was to get molds for temporaries. Second to remove the crowns and prep teeth for veneers. Third was to install the permanent crowns (had to do a minor do-over on one set - see below). Took about a month. Dr Rabanus also works weekends or late evenings too which is great for busy professionals like me. Results: The results? ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. I am so happy with my smile now. As Austin powers said- "I got my mojo back"! Everything from the color to the shape is gorgeous. Just the right shade of white to be eye catching without being obvious (e.g. NOT fake Hollywood blinding white). I've got many - many - compliments on my smile. I have never met someone who is so particular abut the results of his work and so determined to ensure his work is EXACTLY what I want. As an example, he sent the crowns back to the lab because they were not the precise shape he wanted (I couldn't tell the difference, but he could.) Pros: - Extremely meticulous and conscientious - Confident and capable. Stays on top of the latest research and techniques (in addition to his Dental degree, he also has a PhD). - Provides clear options and ideas on type of restorative work to be done. I appreciate him sharing his thinking process and how he arrives at the treatment plan he recommends. - Never "pushes" treatment options. Final decision is always up to the Patient. Cons: - None I can think of. Personality wise, I am very type A, so I am very involved in, and always need to know lots of details about, the care and treatment plans. Dr. Rabanus is unfailingly respectful - I found him to be an excellent partner in my care. Summary: I highly recommend Dr. Rabanus. The quality of his work is beyond superb. A modern day Da Vinci, he couples an artist's eye with a scientist's focus on perfection - it's a rare and unusual combination that produces really extraordinary results. They said they would reach out and they never did. I had just had a baby and some 10 months went by and I realized I needed a cleaning. Service: They told me my crown needed to be replaced even though it wasn't hurting me. Fine. I paid the $800+ and they replaced my crown. I've never had such a painful crown replacement in my life. I couldn't chew for almost a week after. Quality: Ever since I had the crown replacement I've had worsening pain in that area. I reached back out for an appointment. However, because my job only really allows me to go in on Monday or Friday they basically ghosted me. I guess they are booked on Monday and Wednesday in perpetuity.

They'll sell you a mouth guard when you can get one elsewhere for a way more affordable price & despite politely declining, they will push you to sign a paper to try to get you to be responsible to pay for it anyways, I knew to decline that as well. Just walk away. Otherwise, They will have you do unnecessary scans & upsell services to you claiming the benefit for you but it's just to get your dental insurance to pay more. They'll even upsell services not covered under insurance and tell you no insurance covers those services but you'll "need" it. If you want to get upsold and scammed for unnecessary dental services, this is the place for you. My original dentist is in Berkeley & I'd rather pay the toll fee than come back here ever again.

I was not satisfied with the first round of Invisalign - my teeth were not fully straight after over 6.5 months after the initial treatment length was quoted as 5 months. I mentioned that my teeth weren't straight but because the treatment was going over the original timeline I was ok with just getting a retainer. THEN they couldn't get my retainer right. Tell me of one reputable dental office that cannot get a retainer right after 6 times... it's crazy. THEN my teeth shifted while waiting on several different versions of my retainer and they offered to redo my treatment to straighten my teeth again which was nice but bare minimum. THEN I finished round TWO of my treatment that took another few months and my teeth STILL WERE NOT STRAIGHT. When I asked the dentists about it she said "Invisalign is to align the gum line of the teeth it doesn't always provide a straight smile. A lot of my clients say this". But this was after A YEAR OF TREATMENTS. She did not tell me upfront that my teeth wouldn't be completely perfectly straight - so to me that is complete false advertisement. THEN after finishing my SECOND round they still couldn't get any retainer to fit properly and that's when I was completely disgruntled and gave the feedback to the dentist. This dentist did not respond professionally at all. And her response here shows that too with the gaslighting saying "my review is not an accurate depiction of what happened" is completely FALSE. Please don't let yourself get scammed into going to a dentist who doesn't properly disclose important information about treatments ahead of time, gaslights and raises her voice to her patients making them extremely uncomfortable, and who has a history of doing this (check out all the other low star reviews... the stories are all the same). Save your time, money and mental health - don't come here!!
