This behavior felt discriminatory and deeply disrespectful. Patients should never be judged or categorized based on their insurance policy. Dental offices are supposed to be safe, welcoming environments where people can trust professionals during what can already be a vulnerable experience. This encounter made me feel unsafe, unseen, and devalued as a patient. It takes very little effort to show kindness and extend the same basic courtesies to everyone -- especially when providing a paid service. No doctor should model or tolerate discriminatory behavior within their practice. Dr Choi has a very friendly demeanor and did a great job explaining the findings in a way that's easy to understand. He was thorough with his cleaning and exam. He also provided tips to improve oral care. I've seen several dentists during that period when I was not seeing him who recommended excessive/unnecessary procedures. Dr Choi was very forthcoming and is more on the conservative side in terms of what is absolutely needed or not. Overall I would highly recommend him. Also it's great that the office is open one Saturday a month for those unable to go during the busy work week.
