I had been looking for a new dentist for years and I'm so glad that I have found Dr. Tong! I started seeing him last year and he and his entire office have always been very efficient, friendly, helpful, and gentle. Dr. Tong is exactly what I was looking for- an experienced, knowledgeable, and honest dentist who I can trust. He explains the situation well and doesn't try to push you into spending for something that is not necessary at the moment. I highly recommend him and his office staff! read more

I have been going to Dr. Tong for approximately 35 years. He is AMAZING! He provides personable service, he is timely; I have never had to wait to be seen. When I arrive for me appointments, he takes me to the exam room right away. His services are financially feasible. Thanks Dr. Tong for EXEMPLARY SERVICE! LaTonya Blair read more

I have been going to Dr. Tong for ~ 15 years, he is the best and such a nice person. The cleanings are thorough, the care is top notch and Dr. Tong is very down to earth. read more

Dr. Tong is has helped me over the years with standard cleanings, fill ins, and random dental emergencies. He has always been very quick to respond and happy to help when there is an urgent matter. I also feel like Dr. Tong does a great job not over diagnosing cavities. In the past, it felt like dentists I worked with were always trying to fill 'cavities' to possibly get more billing. While I can't say that for sure, I can say that I would definitely recommend Dr. Tong! read more

Dr. Tong has been my dentist for many years. He is very personable and makes your visit a pleasant experience. He is thorough and explains what procedure he will perform on your teeth before starting it. His staff out front, Michelle and Charo, are friendly and helpful as well. Great dentist and staff. read more

Dr. Tong is the best dentist. Very professional and honest. I've been going to him for almost 2 decades.

I'm not a big fan of dentists. Honestly it's not the actual exam/cleaning part that bothers me. It's the fact that they never seem to be on time. I don't get why I can never get in and out of my old dentist's office in under 2 hours. I can't imagine there happens to be some dental emergency throwing off the whole schedule EVERY time I have an appointment. Which brings me to Dr. Tong. I managed to lose a filling eating caramel while visiting my sister in Wisconsin. As soon as I got home I started making desperate calls to various dental offices. Dr. Tong fit me in at the last minute. I think he actually stayed late to get me in. I was ushered into an exam room 5 minutes before my appointment, and was in and out of the office in 30 minutes. 30 minutes for paperwork, x-rays, exam and filling repair. Amazing. read more

Even if you already have a dentist, and your dentist claims that you need a new filling or that an old filling needs to be replaced, be sure to get a second opinion from Dr. Tong before proceeding. I am so happy to have found an honest and super-competent dentist in San Francisco. Dr. Tong's office is not in one of those flashy, super-expensive buildings; all of your dental dollar will go directly into top-notch care. read more

I've been visiting Dr. Tong for a few years now and I love him. He's super chill, doesn't over-prescribe things, doesn't tell you you need procedure unless you really need it, and really levels with you. I like it when doctors tell you "Ok, I see X but let's keep an eye on it and see what happens. It might do nothing." Too many times I've had dentists tell me "You need a filling right now" or something like that. His practice staff is also really nice and professional. read more

This five-star review is long overdue. I've been going to Dr. Tong's dental office for several years. His office is friendly, professional, and he's very good at providing dental work that won't leave you in pain. In fact, he may be one of the gentlest dentists I've experienced Prices are reasonable for those without insurance. I recommended Dr. Tong to another Yelper years ago and she gave him five stars as well. Happy to spread the word! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Stanley Tong for the past 5 years. He's been terrific find and I have YELP to thank for that. He was one of many 5-star reviews I researched, but was nearest to where I live. He has a warm and positive personality and all his work on me including x-rays, cleanings, and one crown were pretty much pain free and easy. He's comforting and communicates very well. He can also really talk sports too (if that's your kinda thing). Unfortunately - I'm usually not in the best position to converse with tools in my mouth :-O The office is comfortable with a decent size waiting area with somes mags. I never wait longer than a couple minutes. His staff is very friendly and efficient. The building entrance is located between a Subway and CVS. The elevator in the building is currently down. So I did have to hike up to the 4th floor today using the stairs. Hope that gets fixed by my next visit back. I think Stan is the man if you are looking for a good dentist. read more

Stanley is a great dentist who does his best to get you in if theres an emergency. I've also had him doing my teeth cleaning for a few years and he does it himself which is cool. Helped me out in several emergency situations and had great specialists he refers people to for tough surgeries etc. read more

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Tong and I liked him so much I wanted to come back and write a review immediately! This was by far the best dentist experience I have ever had. Dr. Tong was gentle, very thorough, explained everything he was doing to my teeth, and answered all my questions. He was also super friendly and warm. Dr. Tong really made my visit a pleasant experience, which I never thought I would say about a dentist. I'm glad I found him (I might now go to the dentist every 6 months like I'm supposed to!). read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Tong. He's been my dentist for several years now and I have recommended him to many friends. Here's what I like about him- he's a nice, humble guy who remembers you (even when you've neglected your teeth for a few years!), and doesn't try to rip you off. He isn't fancy and gimicky- he's just an old school great dentist. I lost my insurance, and he really worked with me to come up with a cost effective solution. Over the years, he has thanked me for every one of my referrals. He stayed late to help me with a dental emergency. On top of being just a really sweet guy, he has always done an amazing job with my teeth. I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Tong! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Tong for years! Dr. Tong and his staff are very friendly. Also, Dr. Tong is very personal and is actually interested in getting to know you. I've never really feel rushed every time I had an appointment. He is rather old fashion in certain respects, but is an excellent dentist! read more

Dr. Tong is the best dentist in town!!!! Always willing to help out if I have a toothache and need a last-minute appointment. Friendly, professional staff. Wish all of them were like Dr. Tong! read more

My dentist for 3 years. Friendly, professional, and easy to work with. Highly recommend for new and existing patients.

Stan's the man. No need to say more.

I just came back from my first visit with Dr. Tong and I had to write a review, because...who ever expects such a good experience from a dentist?! I got lucky because I randomly chose the office based on location from a list of dentists in my network without checking for reviews...and of course found out afterward that I've been beaten to the punch by 38 other people already. Dr. Tong is friendly, nonjudgmental, honest, and super thorough. I loved that he explained some dental jargon to me and always made sure I knew what he was doing. Felt super comfortable all throughout my visit -- would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. read more

Have been seeing Dr. Tong for the past couple years, and he's been great. He's very personable, caring and concerned with your oral health. it's also nice that he's so close to where I live :) read more

Dr. Tong is a great dentist and always takes good care of me when I visit. No one likes going to the dentist, but he has a genuine way of making you feel conformable and getting your through the visit. I just had my quarterly visit and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to my next visit. I know I have never said that about a dentist appointment before! Kudos to Dr. Tong and his staff! read more

Dr. Tong is the best dentist. I have used about five dentists, three were psychos, one was a complainer, and then there is Dr. Tong, pretty much what the great designer intended a dentist to be. The thing about Dr. Tong is he has a good way of scheduling appointments, and it has been like that for years. He puts in enough of a buffer so if a minor cavity is detected during the exam he can fix it without you having to come back, which is awesome. I work in the Silicon Valley so I don't have time to drive back up to the City all the time (yes, I drive all the way back up to see him, he is that good). If he finishes early I swear he goes into the back room and works on his golf swing, i can't prove it but this is what I think he does. He also runs his office the opposite way of what I call a "dental farm" runs like. He is just one guy - he is booked all day long but I never see a pile of people waiting, so he always looks cool headed. Awesome dentist. read more

Dr. Stanley Tong - he is Awesome (yes, with a capital A). I've been five or six times recently (had some teeth knocked out and needed a root canal, etc.) and he has never once been late. He always makes sure that I am comfortable with what he is doing and always shows me what he has done on the X-ray. And he doesn't do that annoying thing where the dentist lays all of his tools on your chest while he is working. His office is also super helpful with insurance and stuff. Love Dr. Tong :) read more

Before visiting Dr. Tong I had not been to the dentist in...well...longer than I care to admit. After I moved to SF, finding a new dentist was a task that took up permanent residency on the bottom of my to-do list. When the time came I was terrified to get back in that dentist chair and open up. I chose Dr. Tong because of his convenient location and the countless fantastic Yelp reviews from his patients. Dr. Tong was so kind and professional, and showed zero judgement once I shared how neglectful I'd been to my teeth. The cleaning was quick and painless, and he and his fabulous staff stayed late so I could get some X-Rays taken care of. A great team. I never thought I'd say this, but I may actually look forward to my next trip to the dentist! read more

The COOLEST dentist ever. He has been my family's dentist for a long time. I switched to him around 10 years or so ago. My previous dentist was a kid's dentist and although I do miss getting a toy after a dental cleaning (foam airplanes were my favorite or those stretchy sticky hands) I have been very happy with Dr. Tong. Genuinely is interested in how I am doing and is always really nice. read more

Go to him. Dr. Tong is professional, friendly, and very easy to be around. The worst part about going to him is that he's actually interested in my life, so he asks me questions and then I have to try to talk with all that stuff going on in my mouth. The staff are great, they will take care of all the details for you like calling the insurance company. These are old-school medical professionals- they care, they take care, and they do their jobs well. read more

The best dentist I've ever been too. My family and I went to him for years when he was in our network. The office is nice and the staff friendly. Dr. Tong is so friendly, gentle, and most importantly trustworthy. I wish he was in my network. I'd go to him in a heartbeat! read more

Always on time, I've never had to wait. Does not push procedures on you. Doesn't make you feel guilty for having not been to the dentist in a while. Refunds your payment if you've overpaid. read more

This may sound odd, but I actually look forward coming to my dental appointments at Dr. Tong's office and having my teeth worked on. Dr. Tong and his staff are immensely amicable and treat you like a friend. And, in terms of the dental care, Dr. Tong is precise and gentle. I never leave his office in pain and the work he's done on my teeth has been accurate and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone who has teeth. read more

After an extended hiatus from having my teeth cleaned and checked, I chose Dr. Tong based on his background and more importantly his YELP reviews. He and his staff are great and very accommodating. The other reviews are accurate, he's great. read more

I've been going to Dr. Tong for decades now. With my poor diet and brushing habits, he's the only reason I still have my own teeth.

I love Dr. Tong! I'm not one of those people who avoids the dentist but, truth be told, I don't *enjoy* going twice a year. Dr. Tong is very gentle and thorough in his explanations of what he's doing. I work in HR and have even referred new employees to Dr. Tong. He's the best! read more

I've been going to Dr. Tong for 17 years. I originally went to him because my previous dentist kept recommending a lot of costly work, so I got suspicious and decided to get a second opinion. Dr. Tong was very professional about it, saying he didn't see anything, but careful not to badmouth my previous dentist. Needless to say, I never went back to the other guy. All I've needed done since then is a couple of repairs on old fillings and my regular check-ups, which are always efficient and painless. His staff is also very professional, helpful, and courteous. They almost always answer the phone, and when they don't, they return messages promptly; no phone tree here. My husband and brother-in-law also go to Dr. Tong, and we all love him. When my kids get older, they'll go to him too. I trust him completely. read more

Dr. Stanley Tong is just wonderful. My husband and I have been his patients for over 15 years. Well-trained, kind, very personable, you can trust him with your teeth! Once, when I had particularly difficult dental surgery, he called me on a Sunday morning to see how I was getting along and offered to see me if necessary. Becky, his long-time office manager, knows how to handle any insurance and is unflappable. I have gone to Dr. Tong whether or not he was in my covered dental network. Just excellent in the true sense of the word. read more

The other day I chipped a tooth and was at a panic. Since this was soo last minute I called 1-800-Dentist and was referred to Dr. Tong. I was quickly connected to Abby (the receptionist) and she was able to fit me in that day even though they were already busy. I got there as fast as I could and was seen just as fast. Truth be known, I am not a fan of visiting the dentist but after this chipped tooth I knew this was a sign to see a dentist....it's been awhile unfortunately...but I told Dr. Tong my concerns and he reassured me that things were going to be okay. Luckily, it was only I who made it worse then it really was. He is very friendly and great at easing any anxiety. Although prices can be a little steep if you don't have insurance but it's okay...it's worth it if it concerns your health...I highly recommend him after only 1 visit!!!! read more

Stanley and staff are great. They're careful, gentle and do excellent work.

Nice and friendly. Dr. Tong is kind and very thoughtful.

I choose Dr. Tong because he's a UCLA Bruin, fun to chat with, and takes care of his patients.

Dentist Tong is a wonderful dentist. I visited him for a second opinion on a root canal and decided to stick with him as my primary dentist. He reviewed x-rays of my tooth that were taken in his office and decided that I was a strong recipient for just a filling replacement as opposed to a root canal that my other dentist said was inevitable. I'm glad I came to Tong because my other dentist had just recommended to wait until the pain got unbearable and I needed to get the root canal. For a variety of reasons that was bad advice, but Dentist Tong found a better solution at a fraction of the cost! His demeanor is fantastic, and he really really listens to what you have to say. I can't recommend him enough. Edit: I had my filling replaced by Dentist Tong this week. It went quickly, easily, and I just snoozed in the chair while he did the work. I started to fall asleep a couple of times I was so relaxed! Anyway, he removed a large existing filling in one molar, refilled it, shaped it, and had me out in under and hour with zero pain. I can't recommend him enough. read more
