I'm a fan. We moved to the area in May and consider ourselves lucky to have Jefe's. Salsa is really good. In fact, we've bought a cup to take home a couple times. White coconut margaritas are amazing! Their queso isn't my favorite in the area, but their food is always good. I typically get the Jefe's platter and my husband gets the fajitas. read more

Just left Jefe's and it was amazing! We are on our way home from a week long vacation in New Mexico and we did not want to mess with the hubbub in Wichita Falls. Rolled into Jefe's at 8:30pm knowing it was closing in 30 mins. Devon (our host and waiter) met us at the door and did a very good job waiting on us! The food is possibly the best Mexican food my family has every had. I had the veggie fajitas and holy cow it was darn good. My wife had the chicken stir fry. The chicken was tender and delicious. I know, because I stole a few pieces. My boys kids meals were large enough to be adult size meals at any lesser Mexican place. Our only negative was we were sat in the bar area where your usual late night bar crowd was. It was uncomfortable with our kids there in the middle of it all. We left with full bellies about 9:20 and the bar flies were still there as loud as ever. No worries we don't blame Jefe's. Jefe's we love you. We live in Gainesville and like the Terminator "will be back"! As a side note I just saw Mr. Larry V.'s review and I think he might of miss clicked or something. With all the great things he said about Jefe's and all the hoops he makes them jump through he surely meant to give them 5 stars. read more

Jefe's has been consistently decent food at reasonable prices. We've been here quite a few times and the staff is always friendly and is usually able to handle our group with ease. Sometimes we drop in unannounced with a group that takes up the entire back room, and their only problem is not being staffed up enough to handle our orders easily. But, they keep us happy with salsa and chips, and attentive detail to bar refills. The margaritas are pretty good, the salsa is spicy, and the chips are served warm. Fajitas sizzle when they come out of the kitchen, and fill the restaurant with that wonderful fragrance! The menu is pretty typical Tex-Mex, and the food is tasty. Fair food for a fair price. As a bonus, the restaurant is clean and roomy. read more

I found this little gem, on my way out to Dallas. Why the 5 stars?? First, the service was EXCELLENT, my "Spicy margarita" was top notch!! If your looking for a "sweet margarita" this is not for you.. I am a regular at "Mastro's steak house" in CA.. and Jefe's margarita was better?? The chips are fresh and warm. The red salsa was good. However, if you like spicy, ask for the "green salsa". As for the food?, I ordered the sample appetizer (left more room for drinks ) also had a little bit of everything I was craving lol.. They make their own "quest cheese" soooo tasty! I must not, if your not a "meat eater" please tell them, because the quesadilla does have MEAT!! Very good meat (I must say.) This appetizer was very good. I can't tell you "which one was my favorite" (as most of the sampler, was very tasty) "MY ONLY COMPLAINT, OR "REQUEST" WOULD BE, MAKE YOUR OWN RANCH this would make it that much better. Food hit the spot but the service was much to desired. Our waiter complained about the fact that he was ready to go home and really didn't want to serve us. He must have said something at least 3 times. You would think he would just be attentive enough so that we could eat and leave but the crowd at the bar kept his attention so we had to wait a bit for our bill. read more

Very disappointing. Chips and salsa were just okay, the queso was pretty awful (which was surprising because how hard is it to mess up queso?). I ordered a combo plate with cheese enchiladas and a beef quesadilla. I received ground beef enchiladas and the 'beef' quesadilla was also just some greasy hamburger meat inside a tortilla. I've never been to any other Mexican restaurant and ordered beef and got hamburger meat instead of beef fajita meat! The beans and rice were the only edible thing on my plate unfortunately. And when the server saw that I was given the wrong food he just showed us on the ticket that he had put in the correct order and still charged us full price for it. Very poor overall. Food was just ok. No A/C and apparently it's been out for 6 mo. Not even a sign on the door letting customers know. Service was slow. Served a bowl of broken chips. Ordered guacamole and they brought it with the meal instead of as an appetizer. Ordered the 5.99 appetizer guacamole and she brought out two tablespoons. We were then told that was the 2.59 order and they didn't have the larger order. Not sure I understand that. Server said she would take that charge off our ticket then manager came out and said that we ate it and she would not remove it. Ordered steak and shrimp and the only steak sauce available was A1 and steak was bland. Another fail for new Henrietta restaurants. read more

Absolutely the worst service i have ever experienced. Had to ask twice for silverware, waitress brought us the wrong drinks and when we asked for the correct drinks she told us "well this is what the bartender made" and walked off. Had to ask again for correct drinks which annoyed the bartender. Finally got the drinks and they tasted like crap. Waitress brought us the wrong food, wouldnt refill chip and salsa until the end of the meal. Not to mention the lady manager is just plain rude. All that for a mediocre meal. read more

Not sure what change has occurred with Jefe's in Henrietta, but it isn't a good change. This has been a regular place for us and our regular food was consistently good, tonight will be the last time we will eat here - third time is a charm and with this visit being our third time in a row to get less than mediocre food, we are removing it from our list of regular "support local" food establishments. Sadly, the excitement of a new restaurant/bar quickly died down. Slow service, inconsistent food & the lack of sufficient air conditioning makes it hard to want to come back. I've ordered the chicken tortilla soup 3 times & received a different recipe all 3 times (the 1st was the best--the 2nd week of business here). We sat at the bar a few nights ago. Several staff walked by us a few times as another staff member ate their meal at the bar. It was 10 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink. Why were the margaritas at Turkey Fest better than the ones served in the restaurant? I'll be back, of course. Not much choice in town. read more

Craving Mexican cuisine and too hung over to make the trek into Wichita Falls I decided to give Jefe's in Henrietta a try. The day was hot and sticky and the alcohol I had consumed the previous night oozed out of my pores and covered my body in a viscous and foul smelling sweat...I relished a cool A/C and a plate of greasy Mexican food. I opened the door and walked out of the blistering 102 degree sun and straight into a 120 degree blast furnace. Turns out the A/C was broken. I felt my legs reel under me and the residual remnants of one too many White Russians curdle in my stomach as that cloying and vile heat bathed my body. The air was dead and stale and beads of sweat dotted my forehead. My brain, hazy and addled, justified staying to eat in that uncomfortably hot sauna. "You can pretend you're eating in an adobe cantina in old Mexico" it whispered, ravenous and desperate for sustenance...pleading with me to put something...anything in my body to soak up that wretched and toxic miasma of booze and bile slowly eating a hole through the lining of my stomach. "Perhaps," my frenzied brain sputtered "perhaps you can even hire a grimy little Mexican boy to accost you and guilt you into buying some candy and chiclets, or maybe you can arrange for a chicken or two to run by your table while you eat to really complete the illusion". In the end I decided that I'd rather eat in a more comfortable climate so I left and ate at Subway. Friends and acquaintances have told me the food is sub par and over priced and the waitstaff is diffident, surly and inattentive...not surprising for Henrietta. read more
